  1. Warren's problem right now is that he's giving up too many long fly balls and walking too many. Hitters really aren't hitting him often, none of his pitches are especially bad, just having trouble locating right now, which is fixable.
  2. Cahill has been good, Strop has been great, Warren has been really good, Grimm has great stuff and lousy results, Rondon has been about the best in the league, and Wood has been great. Great does not mean "never allows a run", so you get days where the pen allows runs. Cahill has been good I agree, Strop obviously. But Adam Warren? He's given up 8 earned runs in his last 7.2 IP Yes, if you ignore the amazing start to the season and pick out his worst stretch then it can be made to look less than great.
  3. I wouldn't say it's a major problem. The bullpen is average. Unfortunately we doubled down on great performances from the scrap heap from Cahill and Richard and it hasn't worked out for the most part. Warren has been unreliable and that was quite unexpected. I love Strop and he's electric but every so often just completely implodes. Not going to fault Rondon for either of the last 2 nights. He allowed exactly 2 legit base runners and as a result blew 2 saves. Today he should have gone 1-2-3 but was screwed. He's been dominant. In an ideal world you have 9th - Rondon 8th - Lockdown lefty 7th - Strop 6th - Grimm/Loogy LR - Cahill Cahill has been good, Strop has been great, Warren has been really good, Grimm has great stuff and lousy results, Rondon has been about the best in the league, and Wood has been great. Great does not mean "never allows a run", so you get days where the pen allows runs.
  4. It hasn't been a problem at all, despite your assurance.
  5. Sequencing, babip and umpires, oh my.
  6. Because the Cubs aren't one of the highest scoring teams in the league. The fact that you think every Cub loss satisfies your complete ignorance toward actual statistics to the point you gloat in game threads just proves how worthless your thoughts are.
  7. In fairness, he's amazing at swinging a bat.
  8. Copa nuclear option of USA-Mexico final still in play.
  9. haha, and now they have to play an ecuador team that is much better than Peru. Not having Yedlin is going to be a big problem. The move is probably Fab in at RB and Castillo out left, but I bet JK goes with Orozco at RB. Or put Cameron at RB and slot Besler/Bimbaum in the center with Brooks.
  10. So in less than 24 hours, the US went from likely playing Brazil in the quarters to Brazil not making the quarters.
  11. As of today, the Cubs have 22 home wins and 20 road wins. The Twins and Braves have 18 wins total.
  12. Turner Field will have been part of the Braves history about the same amount of time as Chipper Jones.
  13. [tweet] [/tweet]
  14. Now there's a twitter account @CrazyCubsStats that is posting the insanity that is the 2016 Cubs. Like... The #Cubs have a winning record (4-3) when they allow 6 runs or more.
  15. Oh, they'll get Brazil for sure now.
  16. Damn it Richard.
  17. The Royals have lost their last 5 games by at least 5 runs each. The Cubs have lost 4 games this season by 5 runs or more.
  18. 3 worst losses of the year without thinking too hard: 1. Schwarber 2. Soler 3. Montero
  19. It blows my mind that he never pitched an inning after the age of 24. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/q/queveru01.shtml really? Yes his career was over after 24. I just remembered his career too well for it to be over that early.
  20. It blows my mind that he never pitched an inning after the age of 24.
  21. The Cubs will definitely score under 18 runs in one game this year.
  22. Let's see...there's no way it's Zobrist, Fowler, Rizzo, or Heyward. Soler has a good walk rate. Ross, Montero, or La Stella wouldn't be surprising. That leaves Bryant and Russell. I'll say Bryant since Russell walked a ton in the 8 spot.
  23. If the Cubs finish the year 52-52, they will end up 93-69. And probably still make the playoffs.
