  1. If I remember correctly, Howard had an amazing arm. I believe he was with Jake Peavy as far as the Padres top prospects back in the day.
  2. Man, Veres could only throw 86 when he last pitched....2 years older...he may not hit 80.
  3. I believe the speculation is that if the Giants win on Sunday, the Bears game will be Sunday. But if they lose, the winner of Seahawks/Cowboys will play the Bears on Saturday. This kinda sucks because the Bears might only have 6 days to prepare for their opponent. I really hope that they play Saturday. I don't want to miss chunks of the game. I can blow off what I'm doing Saturday, but Sunday will be trickier. I'm hoping it's Sunday, because that's when football should be played. Hoping for the 4:00 game too, because my house should be empty then.
  4. It's not just Lovie. :D Yeah, I disagreed with you about this earlier, but I'm coming around. His entrance into the lineup and our awful passing defensive performance are linked. I think the Rams game is dominated if Hester isn't playing Torry Holt all night.
  5. Every single player and coach is at fault for last week. You don't let your QB come into a game laid back like that. You don't let any of your players do that. As a player, you don't take a game this physical that lightly. Every single player and coach risked a major injury by just going thru the motions on Sunday. I don't buy the excuses. Green Bay had nothing to play for. Sure, they had Favre, but his possible retirement has nothing do with the other 53 players.
  6. Wonder why he would go there, with Biggio set in stone at 2B. He's not a very good option at 1B, SS, or 3B if he has to play there.
  7. I don't care who starts. I really don't care who plays more. But if Thomas Jones is dancing thru holes as they close up, I want Benson in there, who hits them hard consistently. If Jones is running like he has in his good games this year, it's a no-lose situation. But yeah, I hope they trade Jones in the offseason and bring in a RB in the middle rounds of the draft.
  8. Just think how good Lilly would look if he was actually paid like a 4th starter. That's why people like me wanted another top notch starter. It slots everyone lower and makes the rotation stronger. If you take last year's numbers, the Cubs still aren't any better compared to the rest of the league, especially when you consider Lilly a below average #3, Prior/Miller you hope can be a 3, but likely a 4 with the injury issues, Marquis was a legit #5 last year, if that. And that still has to include Hill staying around his 2nd half numbers.
  9. He was going against Oden. Cut him some slack. I am very impressed you guys played them that well. I wonder if they are starting to hit the wall abit with all of those frosh. Oden only blocked 1 of his shots. The other big man blocked 3 or 4 more. And it's not just OSU. Same thing happened as a frosh, understandably, in the Big Ten and against Alleyne at Kentucky. I'm not impressed by playing with anybody. IU has the coaching and talent to compete, especially if they shoot well. They gotta be better down the stretch though. Would have been a huge road win against the best team in the conference. Give them 1 of the games they have lost late (Butler, Duke, UK, OSU) and they are a tourney lock. You do realize the impact Oden has is felt at all times? You always are worrying about where he is and as a result will sometimes get your shot blocked by a guy you aren't paying the closest attention too. I also think you might be over estimating your talent level. It is good, but nothing to warrant beating any of those teams you mentioned. I understand Oden's impact. But again, I am talking about the times when Oden was out. DJ had 3 shots blocked with Oden on the bench, and didn't dominate like he should with him out. The other guy (whatever his name was) is a good player also, but shouldn't be a dominant force over a player like White. And I don't know how the talent doesn't warrant beating any of those teams, when they played them all close til the final 2 minutes on the road, and 3 of them while missing a key player.
  10. cbs sportsline is good. ESPN has fantasy, but I have never done that There's tons of sites. Pretty much every sports site has fantasy baseball in some form.

  12. Damnit. That would have been a great win. DJ White has got to get tougher and stronger down low with the ball. He got punked way too many times and continues to have trouble with players that can match up with his height and athleticism. IU's 4 losses have all come to tourney teams on the road. They have been missing one of their starters for 3 of them.
  13. I made you an offer. You should accept it.....or counter.
  14. Yeah, I'm ready to deal too. I got too many points right now.
  15. Now THAT would be a good platoon partner for Jones in RF (with Soriano in CF, which I still believe is the best spot for him). I thought that KC was gonna get rid of either Sanders or Emil Brown as early as trade deadline last year.
  16. Dawson was awesome. This moment and the Eric Show moment made me love him forever.
  17. Is Trot signed yet? Wonder if he would take a bench role?
  18. That's just not true. They played well offensively in the 3 previous games. They played 3 quarters of good-to-great defense in the TB and Detroit games. The only real bad game the Bears played on defense was probably the Rams game. Last night, they gave up yards, but only really gave up the opening drive TD. You want reasons the Bears will win their first playoff game? Vs. Giants- Bears are a better team, worse QB situation than the Bears, tons of injuries, mediocre defense vs. Seattle- Bears are a better team, injuries on defense, offense hasn't played together much, and hasn't run the ball that well this year, one of the worst run defenses, pass defense will be missing 3 starting DBs vs. Dallas- Bears are a better team, can't run the ball in recent weeks, Romo can't perform under pressure, defense has given up 39, 23, 28, and 42 in their last 4 games.
  19. West Virginia and defense should not be in the same sentence.
  20. Kelly Herndon broke his ankle yesterday for Seattle. Thanks. That's what it was.
  21. I'm Rex's biggest supporter, but all the TOs were his fault (although, it looked like the fumbled snap never got to him). Even the tip INT for the 2nd TD was a case of Rex not finding a throwing lane. The first interception TD was about the dumbest thing I've ever seen. The one Woodson picked was a great play, but it was 100% forced by Rex trying to make an impossible throw. I didn't watch the 2nd half, but Griese hasn't impressed me much this year. Granted, it's been in garbage time, but even in the preseason the offense under Griese looked a lot like the offense in 2005 under Orton.
  22. Seattle suffered another injury yesterday to a defensive back (can't remember which one, but one of the corners), so I think they may be in trouble. Philly will win, so the Bears will play the winner of Seattle v. Dallas. If it's Dallas, the key will be getting Tait's ankle better so he has a chance against Demarcus Ware. If the Tait of last night shows up, Rex will get blindside pressure all day. I think former Bear Columbo going against his former practice mates (Brown and Ogunleye) will be a good matchup. As will T.O. and Glenn vs. Tillman and Vasher. If it's Seattle, the key is pounding the ball. Seattle, NO, and Philly are among the bottom 10 teams against the run in all of football. If the Bears do get Seattle, they can make a Superbowl run with little from the QB position, provided the D steps up (they only gave up 13 points, and just 3 when GB had a short field).
  23. Not like Griese was much better.
  24. That's what I'd like also, but unless they bring in a guy like you were talking about in the Aaron Boone thread, Moore becomes a necessity.
