  1. Nice call. Won by 15 despite an insane difference in FTs. What was it like 34-18, with 10 of those coming in game lengthening time for IU? I would have been disappointed with anything other than a double digit win at home, against a weak UM team. That's now 11 in a row for the RED over the Blue. The Wisconsin game will be interesting. UW hasn't dominated recently, and they haven't dominated at all on the road this year. The game is actually on Wednesday, which is great for IU. UW plays tomorrow on the road at Iowa, has to travel back, before travelling again to Bloomington, and IU has an extra day of rest. Indiana is 11-0 at home, scoring almost 20 more points per game in Bloomington. The key is who dictates the matchups. UW is much bigger than IU. If IU gets beat up inside by the bigger Badgers, UW will win. IF IU can shoot and drive around the slower Badgers, Hoosiers will win. Not a good matchup for Lance Stemler defensively. But I think IU can take advantage and make Tucker work on D against a quick guard that will take it off the dribble like Shaw or Ratliff.
  2. The Bulls still have the resources to get whatever they need, without trading Deng, Gordon or Hinrich. Nocioni, PJ, Thomas, Thabo, and a lottery draft pick is a good package, and more than any other team can conceivably offer. If a package of 3 or 4 of those players doesn't net Gasol, O'Neal, or Garnett....the Bulls get to keep all except PJ, and like 1908 mentioned, add an extremely talented big man next year. I don't know how everything would work cap wise, though, keeping Deng, Gordon and Hinrich.
  3. The network allows one to call its nationally televised games. True enough. But as bad as that is, Buck's allegiance is less obvious than Perry's, IMO. It's poor form in both cases, especially teaming Buck with McCarver. It would've been like having Harry and Santo call a nationally televised Cubs game. My life has less joy because that never actually happened.
  4. The network allows one to call its nationally televised games.
  5. I don't understand his OBP Pecota projection. Derrek was at .368 in 2006 in a lost year. Granted he was .358 in 2004, but in 02-03 he was pushing .380 and we all know about 2005. I think a .369 OBP for Derrek is a down season. I think there's a 5-10% chance he could actually repeat 2005, given his age. But worst case scenario is about .285/.380/.525.
  6. I was in last year. I'd do it again, even though my team sucked last year.
  7. You wouldn't want to experiment with him playing QB, but the Super Bowl is as good a game as any to throw a player like Hester into an offensive play or two. William Perry endorses this message That's not the same. Perry had already been used on offense several times during the regular season, so it's not like they were experimenting in the Super Bowl. Hester has been used on offense this season too. When?
  8. I said in my last post that I worried about this game at Illinois. In Bloomington, I think IU would have had enough to come away with the W. But on the road, a very hostile environment, and after an emotional road game in Connecticut in which the starters played a ton of minutes....this was obviously the let down game. I would have rather them scrapped the UConn game and beat Illinois in conference. But whatever. Tough part of the schedule continues. Michigan and Wisconsin at home. Then to Iowa before hosting U of I. 3-1 would be a great accomplishment. 2-2 is probably more likely.
  9. Yep, he said it. The safety, IMO, was a direct result of the Saints completely disregarding the need to run the ball. They ran 4 times in the 2nd half, and 3 times in the 2nd quarter (not including the Brees scramble). And this was when the game was 6-0 and 16-14. Still very manageable for the Saints. Really no reason for everybody on the Dline to be able to pin back when you are at your 5 yard line, because they know you aren't gonna run the ball.
  10. Well, Bears played a good game and they deserved the victory. The Saints offense played pretty well though, in spite of the turnovers. Saints only had 3 less 1st downs than the Bears despite the fact that the Bears had the ball over 10:30 minutes longer than the Saints. The Saints are an offensive team, you keep us off the field and you'll win. Well, I wouldn't necessarily agree that they played well. Again, they had the big play and a big 2-minute drive. They had no shot to beat the Bears with the one-dimensional offense they showed. Any team that will throw 52 passes to 12 runs will move the ball. They only had 6.1 yards per pass, and that was with an 85 and 40 yarder. The Bears had 5.5 per in 26 passes, and 15 of them were incomplete. Brees had 8.0 ypa all season.
  11. huh, last I checked the Bears had Urlacher and Briggs Was comparing the Colts and Saints. Hillenmeyer would be the best LB on either of those teams.
  12. At first glimpse, the Colts look a lot like the Saints. Both teams can light it up on offense. Both teams stink against the run. Weak LB corps on both sides. Front 4's are pretty similar.
  13. Never thought I'd see this! Bears and Colts playing each other in a Superbowl. Wow. The 2 cities I have spent the most time hanging out in, in my lifetime. All but one of my close friends are either Bears or Colts fans. Most like both teams. This is gonna be fun.
  14. Give it a rest man Nope. I kept my mouth shut during the week. I just sat back and listed to how the Saints were going to come into Chicago and light up the BEars, and I just kept it quiet. To think the Aints could actually come into Chicago and get a victory, whatta joke. If the Saints hadn't shot themselves in the foot and fumbled so many times, they might would have beaten you in Chicago. So why don't you be a humble victor and be thankful that you are going to witness your team in the Super Bowl. There are 30 teams with all their millions of fans who won't get that opportunity. Shot themselves in the foot? You do realize the Bears caused those turnovers. That is what the Bears do, force teams into mistakes. The Bears only had 2 FGs and a late TD off the turnovers. I don't think it was close to a given that the Saints would have won w/o the fumbles. The Saints barely had 200 yards on offense outside of the 2 minute drive and the Reggie Bush TD. They had 4 drives with negative yardage while the game was still in doubt.
  15. Everybody stepped up on the D. Mark Anderson was the defensive MVP. He played like a star. But Alex Brown and Wale both played very well. I thought Scott did a good job in the middle. Tank and Idonje had flashes along side him. Much different team when getting pressure from the front 4. Chris Harris had a very underrated game. He got picked on the Bush TD, not much he could do about that. Even if he goes over the pick instead of underneath, he still probably gets beat along the sidelines. Urlacher was Urlacher. Briggs and Hunter made plays here and there. The CBs were solid. The biggest pass plays were not on the corners. The Saints did get the 40-yarder early, but Tillman was in the right position, just didn't have the footing to make a better play on the ball.
  16. AFC has been far superior to the NFC over the course of the year. Doesn't mean the Bears can't beat either of these teams, but as a whole the AFC has been better. Agreed. But that's not the Bears fault. I've heard all year that the NFC had no chance vs. SD, NE, Baltimore, or Indy.....including the Bears. That has never been true.
  17. Grossman's strength is deep slants with both Clark and the WRs, which wasn't used enough, the passing game was designed poorly today, IMO. Definitely a bad gameplan, but I wanted Fred Thomas picked on all day. Didn't try it enough, other than deep until the "Berrian drive". I don't know why they don't call more seams and slants. 3 times in the 2 playoff games, Rex got 30 yard completions to the slot/TE.
  18. I don't see the AFC having as huge an advantage as the media will allow us to believe. Neither of the teams playing are better than the Bears. Yeah, I'm in scout mode now!
  19. I thought Turner called a crappy game, until it mattered. I guess you can say clutch coaching. With the Bears only up 9-0, and unable to take advantage of 3 short fields, he pounded the ball over and over against a Saints D that had been on the field alot. After the safety, he opened up the passing game when his defense had been on the field alot. Thomas Jones is a monster. I think the Bears should bench him and start Benson in the Superbowl.....then bring him in and watch him take his frustration out on their opponent. Something about Ced getting increased carries brings out the best in TJ.
  20. You now have one less offer out. :D It would really help if Sportsline notifies you by e-mail when you get an offer the same as Yahoo does. It just doesn't occur to me that often during the offseason to check to see if anybody's offered me a trade. Man, I traded a lot. But I had to. Couldn't keep all those guys.
  21. You need to offer me a trade. I'll let you know right away! :D Can you take on points? I need to give them away.
  22. I have several offers out, that haven't even gotten a response. I know it's the offseason and nobody is checking the league everyday for trades, but some people don't even bother to respond to trade offers during the season. All I ask for is a simple "Accept" or "Decline" and I can go on my way. I have a few trades offered from December.
  23. Does make the Cubs a lot better team if Soriano is in CF. Floyd seems kinda redundant with Ward already here, but it gives the Cubs an extra bat. If Floyd is healthy, which he should be in a bench role, when he plays for Murton, the Cubs don't lose anything in OBP. When he plays for Jones, the Cubs can make up some of the LH power.
  24. Maybe it's not best for Soriano or the team's defense, but it would almost certainly be best for the team. Even if Soriano is a subpar defensive CF, his value is maximized with his offense coming from that position. He's hardly guaranteed to be an above-average right fielder... offensively or defensively. At least this way we'd be sure to be getting at least one positive from him. Then maybe we can find a platoon partner for Jones in right and be set. Ward? Might make for a brutal defensive OF though. The only one who shouldnt want Soriano in CF is Pie. Ohh duh. I forgot about Ward. He'd be a much better platoon option with Jones than Theriot if he is going to be playing RF. Ward's a LH hitter, like Jones.
