  1. Tank Johnson is the obvious answer here.
  2. But Ryan Harris was on MTV's Made!
  3. 1800 is the points limit, right?
  4. In all honesty, I think this is the same philosophy that Baker and his boys had, they just didn't articulate it well. I know we all like to make fun of his quotes about "not walking across the plate" and "clogging bases", but I think those comments stemmed from him not being good with the media and getting flustered into those stupid statements. The key with Perry is that he seems to know how to articulate and coach. The former Cubs staff seemed to focus more on just putting the ball in play and was big on not taking strikes. Perry seems to focus more on finding the pitch to hit. Obviously personnel has a lot to do with it, but Perry has a track record of success that shows he knows how to get hitters to recognize their strengths, which is the key to hitting. Jones and Soriano have the most to gain from Perry, both have had completely unacceptable walk rates for a lot of their career, but both have also shown the ability to take walks at a respectable rate in recent years (Soriano-06, Jones-05). I would have liked to have seen him work with Corey.
  5. You have a nice team, BbB. Pitching may be head and shoulders better than anyone else's. A lot of your team's offensive success will depend on health.
  6. Great weekend for the top players. Peterson, Johnson, and Joe Thomas all cemented their picks in the top 4. None of them will go beyond the #4 pick. I think Meachem's weekend will cause the Vikings to look to trade down and get him in the middle of the first round. There's no way I'd pick Ginn ahead of him, despite the return skills. I think whoever wants Quinn will trade up to #7 and get him before the Dolphins have a shot. Carolina and Houston come to mind. Olsen was amazing. I think he may be gone by the Bears pick, but I wasn't big on them picking a TE in the 1st anyway. I still think Ben Patrick would be a great pick if he lasts to the end of the 3rd round, or possibly if the Bears trade down and get an extra pick early in the 3rd.
  7. Studio 60 is ok. Nothing special. There have been really good episodes and really bad episodes. And I can't decide if Amanda Peet is sexy or not. She reminds me of the chick on Seinfeld.....the 2-face. She's really gorgeous sometimes and not so much at others. She's been consistently cute since she's been pregnant, though, but most women are.....and no I don't have a weird pregnant woman fetish.
  8. I'd trade anyone really. Ideally, I would trade Tejada and Jock Jones for a lesser SS but better OF.
  9. The draft didn't put my team over the top as I was hoping for. Really all the guys I was hoping would fall to my first pick at 25, didn't and that threw off my entire draft. I did get 1 of the minorleaguers I was hoping for (Gallardo).
  10. Voted Thursday for Earl, Office and Smallville. Heroes, though makes Monday a close contender, even though that's the only show I watch on that night.
  11. Haha.. not that these projections really matter, but thanks for calculating it. I thought about it but I was entirely too lazy! :) Agreed. CBS can be a joke at times w/ projections. I think 95% of the MLB will hit .280 with 20 HRs according to them.
  12. For what it's worth Don. Projected starting IF points from CBS. (not including players currently at the U position). Eyes of TX- 2559 RAW- 2525 NSBB- 2520 (with Hall at SS) Quakers- 2484 Lynx- 2474 Urinal Cakes- 2458 You should get the edge over Tooters, though.
  13. You were in the running, but Kent was the 19th best 2B last year, and isn't likely to get better. And as good as Barrett was last year, he was only 12th in C scoring. Granted he was injured, but that's not unusual for a C. Konerko's also on the downside of his career.
  14. Best IF (C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B)- 1. ME (weak at C, but potentially top 5 at the other 4 spots) 2. NSBB (most IF talent, but 3 unproven guys in the mix) 3. Quakers (best C, potential top 5 everywhere else but SS) 4. Eyes of TX (even though 3B and C are weak, his 2B outscored the now Soriano-less field by 100+, and he has Ryan Howard) 5. Lynx/Tooters- (hard to distinguish these 2, Tooters could have the top MIF with the Yank boys, Lynx underrated players all around). Best OF and U 1. GHS (Soriano and Andruw are top 10. Fielder's good. I love Drew in Boston's lineup, if he's in it enough) 2. Tim (assuming he puts Hall here when eligible, potentially 3 top 20 guys, plus solid at U) 3. HBC (Cabrera's not OF eligible, so he doesn't count here, or he'd be #1 4-5. are just 2 close. Me (Sizemore, Crawford), Alamo (C. Lee, Vlad), Lynx (Bay, Hafner), and Quakers (Dunn, Beltran) all have 2 huge bats in the 4 positions, but question marks at the other 2. Voodoo and Buddiga have the depth and could stake claim to the 4-5 spots. For the record, I'd probably rate all these teams above my OF/U. Best SP 1. Fuzzy (all the makings great #1, solid and young 2-5) 2. GHS (can make a case for #1, if Sheets and Hill pitch full years and Hill is as good as advertised) 3. Alamo (no clear #1, but great potential w/ Beckett, CC, Francis, Lackey) 4. Urinal (I don't like Westbrook, but I like the other 4) 5. ME (best SP in the game, some solid arms, if Patterson is a true #1 again, definitley a top 5 staff)
  15. Gordon had a great look.
  16. Sucks if they lose this one.
  17. Even better, they are rumored to be trying to bat Guzman 2nd. Their opening day lineup, will likely be. Felipe Lopez Christian Guzman Ryan Zimmerman Austin Kearns Travis Lee Brian Schneider Ryan Church Nook Logan
  18. Thanks for the warning :D Seriously though, I think the most likely option is that since he's working on his mechanics a little bit, they want to give him some extra time to throw to live batters without the supposed "flaw", and also give them more information against live hitters for them to evaluate. That and usually, you don't want your top guys throwing so many innings. Teams want to give their franchise pitchers more of a chance to get in shape. Marquis isn't as valuable as Zambrano. He's not as fragile as Prior or Miller. And he's not as rich as Lilly. That's the reason he's starting. I believe Shawn Estes started the first spring game a couple years ago.
  19. It's not like pitchers are gonna be around long enough to get multiple ABs, heck they won't even get one early on unless there is a big inning. I don't like them using the DH, simply because it gives a chance to bring in pinch-hitters every time the pitcher's spot comes up, to give a lot of different guys a shot.
  20. Not only does he get an insane contract, but he's the #1 starter? that's a joke people.
  21. Of course, he doesn't throw a gyroball. He's Japanese, Gyro's are greek. DUH!
  22. Prior's gonna havta beat DLee for CPOY. And Kerry Wood, and Wade Miller. . and Ceasar Izturis. . marquis, floyd. is it bad most of the team would be candidates? Yep. It's worse that they make a combined $30 million.
  23. Completely off the subject, but finally the Cubs will go into interleague play (barring injury) without having to play Macias/Neifi/Mabry at DH.
  24. He'll be good this year. I think he's determined to prove doubters wrong. The Cubs have been cautious with him overall. And the biggest factor may be that he's looking very close to a big payday as a free agent. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I think Mark will have a great season. At worst, I think he may fade down the stretch due to lack of innings in recent years.
  25. We should bump every single thread in which someone has posted something that looks like it could be completely wrong, even though the season hasn't started yet.
