  1. He wouldn't be trading the 6th pick overall for Briggs. He'd be trading that for Briggs and the 31st. He'd be trading one potential all pro player for an all pro player and a guy who is a little less likely to be all pro. My only problem with such a trade from a Bears perspective is, with 31 and 37, we know they already need O line help, secondary help, and offensive playmaker help. Now, trade Briggs with the 31 for that 6th, and all of a sudden you add one more need, without adding anymore draft picks. The guys who are obvious replacements for Briggs aren't worth anywhere near being a 6 pick, so if you take them, then you are essentially removing much of the value of that 6th pick in the first place. Angelo would almost have to trade down, to try and get 2 later 1st round picks. If you are giving up Briggs and your 1st, I think you have to end up with at least 2 picks when all is said and done. Because all of a sudden you have multiple needs and serious depth issues. Exactly. Which was my point in not liking the deal last night. And I think the odds of filling those needs at #6, is unlikely unless you overdraft. I see OL and with Briggs gone OLB as the biggest needs. And I think Willis and Levi Brown would be slight overdrafts at 6.
  2. huh? This is would be worth the 14th overall pick. Huh is right.
  3. BS? Is there a LB out there that we could draft that could even come close to replacing Briggs? Patrick Willis can play the WILL just fine I'm sure. Would you draft him 6 though? It only makes sense if the Bears can trade down and get a couple picks. Wonder if the Pats would be interested.
  4. Do it Jerry and don't think twice! I may actually hold out for more for Briggs. He's NOT a system player. I have no clue who the Bears would take at #6. It most certainly wouldn't be a LB. I would make the Skins at least give up a 3rd or 4th rounder also.
  5. Luis Gonzalez signing is still the one that has me shaking my head. Also forced Ethier to RF, where he's not as good.
  6. Roy Williams is not a good coach. Also, Jeff Green could have scored 40 every game this year.
  7. He states nothing else about it, so I still have my doubts. I'd love to see Bruce or another beat writer give us some info on this in the near future. Hendry has gotten all the deals done when he's had to. I think he will get this done. Unlike ARam, DLee, and Wood, the market is already set for what Zambrano should get. I think it's more about options, incentives, etc. at this point.
  8. If Pagan for Andino is still on the table. I'd take that 100X before this deal.
  9. That is amazing. That guy Atkinson is crazy fast. Excellent. Finish. Gotta feel bad for the losing team.
  10. What happened to Murton hitting 2? Is it me, or has it been a while since he's been up there? Are they just trying out different things? Because I thought Murton was pretty much gonna be in the 2-spot to start the season.
  11. This has always been one of my favorite Farnsworth memories. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/LAN/LAN199908290.shtml man, that lineup was sick, heh. Wow: L Johnson CF J Blauser SS S Sosa RF M Grace 1B G Hill LF T Houston C G Gaetti 3B C Meyers 2B K Farnsworth P Even better, the Dodgers lineup had 5 future Cubs in it. Eric Young Todd Hollandsworth Eric Karros Todd Hundley Mark Grudzielanek.
  12. Ahem. Depending on the bracket I have 6 of the Elite 8 teams. Didn't pick Memphis or Oregon. My entire Final 4 is left in all bracket.
  13. I don't know. I personally don't think he'll be successful, but he does handle the ball extremely well for a big man (I've seen him cross a few guys over this year believe it or not), and if he ever develops that 15 foot jumper, he has a shot at being a solid role player. I think he will develop that jumper. Never really could in Duke's system when he was on the floor with 4 jump shooters. I'm not a huge McRoberts fan, but I think he can be a Troy Murphy type player in the NBA. Not a star, but I think he could be a 12-14 PPG scorer who gets 8 rebounds as a role player.
  14. Best possible move for the Pirates. Of course, it would be even better if Castillo could snap out of it, live up to his potential, and then they get rid of Jack Wilson moving Freddy to SS full-time.
  15. He's probably a better version of Todd Johnson, at this point. I hope he's replacing Johnson and Worrell. Depth, not meant as a key player. And I wonder if he'll see some special teams play, like those two did. That's what I'm hoping too. And I would be interested in Danieal playing a little CB. He has the speed and ability to play a slot WR as the nickel if 1 of Tillman/Vasher is out a month again.
  16. Consider yourself in my thoughts. Best of luck to you and your family.
  17. Barmes is the best option of those 4 names. I wouldn't trade a whole bunch for him though.
  18. Good comparison with Trotter. I think Archuleta could be great against the run in the Bears scheme.
  19. I fully expect the knicks to win the lottery so we won't have to worry about that ;) You do know the Knicks have a better shot to be in the playoffs than win the lottery, right?
  20. IU missed 11 of 21 free throws. If they make 3 of those (would have put them at 61%) they would have been up 3 instead of tied late. Great comeback, sucks to lose because you can't inbound the ball. I was saying all game though, they would lose because of the FT shooting. The comeback was inevitable, because there was no way, we would continue to shoot 18% with the firepower IU has from outside. DJ White was great. If he stays, IU is a potential Final 4 team.
  21. Tennesse's gonna put up 120. And I picked ND out of spite. Everytime I think they will lose, they win. I picked ND because nobody else was really.
  22. Rapier wit, mayhap? He had it right the first time!
