  1. They could use a #3 WR, though Dallas Clark basically played that role this year and did it well. Steve Smith (USC) would be a reach at 32, but would be a near perfect fit.
  2. 12th? Your league sucks.
  3. For the record....his numbers so far. .778/.846/1.667 OPS = 2.513
  4. 7-9, 2 HRs, 6 RBI, 5 runs to start the season. He may finish the year hitting .700. He's that damn good.
  5. Football is a unique sport. The money isn't guaranteed. Anyone can be cut at any moment and not get a dime from his team (relatively speaking). Football also has the distinction of being the most dangerous team sport. I will agree that the franchise tag is misused by teams and thus the players look at it as a slap in the face. A franchised player is one major knee injury away from never earning another dime as an NFL player.
  6. good choice... I think Bears fans should be happy if this were to actually happen Agreed. Staley is my favorite of the OL likely to be available at 31. That includes Blalock, Ugoh, Grubbs, and Sears.
  7. thabo is their 2 guard with size. he just hasn't been given the minutes this year. i'm sure he'll be phased into the standard rotation eventually. he's good when i've seen him out there, and he'll be able to guard players like kobe and lebron when he gets more minutes. edit- there isn't anyone we could get in the draft who'd be a better option. Disagree. Nick Young will be better than Thabo. http://media.collegepublisher.com/media/paper679/stills/x8i3om5y.jpg I'd definitely go after a big man - Horford, Hawes, Hibbert - any of those would be fantastic. Yeah, if any of those guys are on the board, it's a no-brainer. The Bulls still need a big man. I like Thabo and all, but man I really wish the Bulls would have gotten Brandon Roy in the last draft. He would have allowed them to trade Gordon or Hinrich for that big man. Corey Brewer I think would be a great pickup too. I see him as a 2-guard even though he's 6'9".
  8. Very solid pick in my opinion. I never understood the "best player available" strategy. I mean, even if Adrian Peterson is still on the board at 14, would it really make sense for Carolina to pick him, already having Foster and Williams? You can always spin off the pick to someone who wants AD at that spot - it's not like there would be a shortage of teams to pick from. There has to be a limit to the BPA strategy, and you're right that you cannot pick BPA in football as much as some of the other sports. With so many football picks being busts though, if you have a player who you rate much higher than anybody else on your board, it makes sense to take him-rosters fluctuate so much that you usually can find a spot for them to play. That isn't the case at QB, OT if both your tackles are secure, and S if you have two great safeties, but every other position I think you can work players in somewhere. Now, if two players are similar, you always want to have need be the deciding factor on anything that is anywhere near a close call. Of course-I'm biased because the Colts have taken two offensive guys in the first round in the last 6 years, and have been criticized for it badly because they didn't draft for the obvious need on their defense-those two were Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark, who were not needed at the time but now are integral parts of the team. OT is not a good example. You can move a good OT to guard and it should work out fine. Plus, moreso than any position OL is a high injury risk position(s). Safety could also use depth too.

You can always spin off the pick to someone who wants AD at that spot - it's not like there would be a shortage of teams to pick from. I had my draft board. And the only true needs I saw for the Pats were LB (inside or out) and safety. I had Poz, Timmons, and Beason as the 3 LBs and Griffin and Merriweather at S. I think if the Pats can somehow get Pozlusny and Griffin, they would have the best draft in the league.
  10. With the 27th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select: S Brandon Merriweather- U of Miami Character issues, but may be the 2nd best safety in the draft. Pats need a S with Rodney Harrison aging and injury prone. I went with need over best player available.
  11. Blue jerseys, red pants. Like the Pirates back in the day with the yellow pants. Bring colored pants to the MLB!
  12. Off tonight. I meant tomorrow. It really would be huge to be able to make a road statement against the Pistons. They basically did last time out, just didn't win.
  13. I like the idea of having blue road jerseys, just not the ones they currently wear. They grays are so ugly. If the blue ones were made like the gray ones, they would be better.
  14. This comes down to how desperate the Bears are. Gonna be a lot of pride involved, though, as Briggs is dictating he be traded and the Skins are dictating the terms. If the Bears feel Briggs is serious, they will take this deal. If not, I would go straight to the Giants to see what they would offer.
  15. I have this team in 1 league. C-Martinez 3 RBI 1B- Giambi 3 RBI SS- H Ramirez 4-6, 4 R, 2 SB OF- Baldelli RBI, SB OF- Hawpe- 3-5, 2 RBI U- Dunn 2 HR, 3 RBI SP- Sheets CG, 1 ER Also have Aramis at 3B, Cano at 2B, and BJ Ryan and Wagner at Closer.
  16. New job, new house, new state/city. Lots of new stuff. Man how have you been? Speaking of good, did you even get my invite this year? Yeah. I got it late. It went to my junk mail, which I check once in a blue moon. I got it about a week too late, and I figured it was full. Sorry I didn't respond.
  17. WES! What's good man? Good to see....er hear from you.
  18. Shotgun just means Rex won't catch the snap instead of just fumbling it from the center. :?

    Week 1

I went down a ton too. Negative points are apparantly more too. John Patterson put up a negative 10.25, I don't think I've ever had a player score that low.
  20. The NCAA Tourney pool for Roadkill. Only 5 of us entered, but I won over NCCF thanks to Florida beating Ohio St. last night for the championship. That makes 4 of the last 5 champs I have picked. 3 of the 5, I picked before the entire season actually started.
  21. I don't think the Bears would pick OL that early. I think with OL and CB, they have shown that they will take a chance on value being there later in the draft. At #6, I can see them taking a guy like Amobi Okoye, because of youth and upside. Landry I would love, but can't really see with Archuleta, Brown and Danieal already on the roster. I think despite Johnson's uncertain season, with Dvorcek and Adams at DT coming, I don't see it as much of a need early. I'm expecting Manning to be moved to CB and groomed to be the starting CB next year when Vasher likely leaves via FA. I don't see DT as a need either. But the group of DTs does have 2 guys coming off of major injuries and another guy who will most likely be suspended for 4-8 games. I think a guy like Okoye is young enough and has the athletic ability a team like the Bears would get excited by, moreso than Alan Branch.
  22. I'd like any of those guys.
  23. 28 HR that year. He had 22 the year before in the minors, but has only hit about 40 HRs in his other 5-6 years as a pro.
