  1. Anybody else see the Reds letting Dunn walk so Hamilton could become a full-time OF? Their best lineup is w/ Freel at 2B and Phillips at SS, with Hamilton in CF.
  2. Cincinnati lost their pick. So, Tennessee is on the clock.
  3. The Cubs faced Houston without having to see Oswalt and Jennings. And now they will face SD without seeing Young or Peavy and Atlanta without Smoltz and Hudson. And will likely see St. Louis this weekend without having to face Carpenter. Now is the time to win some damn games!
  4. Yep, he just missed it, opposite field at that.
  5. I think I ranked Petrick #4 in the system at one point in his career. Big fan.
  6. When I saw him in Lansing, my unexpert scouting report on him was about the adjustments he made. He did a great job of taking pitches early and waiting on his pitch. If he didn't get a pitch to hit, he wasn't afraid to lay down a bunt. In one game, I saw him ground out to the pitcher reaching for a slider (I believe) in the 1st. Then next time up he drove one into the RCF gap. 3rd time vs. the same pitcher, he bunted for a single. This was all vs. a LHP too. I think he's ready now. I have faith that Perry can help him make adjustments so he doesn't have the prolonged slump like he did the middle of last season.

BTW, 6 of the 12 top scores in this league are middle IFs. And exactly 0 of them are named Jeter, Tejada, or Utley. Aaron Hill and Ian Kinsler are huge surprises right now.

    Week 3

Big game this week. From the first 2 weeks, it looks like the same 4 teams in the East are going to be competing for the playoffs again. I historically have not done well vs. the top of my division which has led to my demises.
  9. I think you're wrong about that. Gordon has improvements to make before he's a point guard, but he displays excellent passing abilities at the high school level. He improved in that area a ton last season. That said, he'll likely never be a true point guard, maybe a point guard in the Gilbert Arenas mode though. I look no further than his last name to make an Eric Gordon comparison. He reminds me a lot of Ben Gordon, but with better ball handling ability. Arenas is a pretty good comparison too.

No. I think that was explicitly laid out in the rules. He's not injured, so I don't think that would be allowed.
  11. Pie and Colvin watch. Felix Pie- 12/29, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 8 BB, 3 K, 15 runs, 1/2 SB. .414/.526/.552. Interesting stat. 0 Ks vs. RHP in 23 AB, 3 vs. LHPs in 6 ABs. Tyler Colvin- 8/22, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 3 2Bs, 1 3Bs, 1 BB, 3 K, 3/3 SB. .364/.391/.727. 5 of 8 hits for extra bases, 6-12, with all 5 XBH vs. RHP.
  12. I really like Holliman. He's my guy to watch this year as far as pitching prospects go.

    Week 2

My pickup, Kyle Davies, got rained out. So, I'm gonna have to win with a 7-4 start disadvantage. Up about 23 right now.
  14. Abuck won the last 2 championships in this league AND predicted Rich Hill would be a huge success. Wow! Too bad he's modest and doesn't brag about both every single chance he gets.
  15. "1-2-3. Shoot that referee!" My thing is sarcastically pointing out the obvious. Examples: "Hey, when the ball goes over that white thing it's called a strike!" "Where I come from, when a player is on the base before the tag, he's safe!"
  16. The 2 stats at the top confused me at first, because I thought "how could they not be the same?" But then realized that when they won that 1 game after a win, then the next game didn't count in their record when they won their 1 previous game, because they had won 2 the 2 previous games. Confusing? I wanted to quote the other stat to show that Jones and Soriano have sucked in RBI situations.
  17. Throwing LHPs against the Reds is a very good idea. Also, this would be as good a time as any to get Murton and Floyd together in the OF.
  18. This year Conley is the first point guard taken. Next year Mayo, Rose, Gordon, Collison, and possibly Collins make the spot a little crowded. I would go now were I Conley. Good point on Conley. Rose, Mayo and Gordon are all better scorers so there's a good chance they would all go before Conley. As for Cook, he likely would not have been in college under the old rules. I think he's possibly a end of the lottery pick at best, to a beginning of the 2nd round at worst. It depends on need and how he works out.
  19. At Jersey scares me. Kidd and Carter have been playing well of late. Hopefully that Cavs slip up and make that game unimportant. We will lose that game at NJ. I want no part of them in the playoffs. We just don't match up well with them at all. Well, they did just beat NJ a week ago by 30 in Chicago, but lost the previous 2 matchups vs. the Nets. And yeah, I agree with the above that the Bulls would beat the Nets in 5 or 6 at worst. Simply a much better team.
  20. At Jersey scares me. Kidd and Carter have been playing well of late. Hopefully that Cavs slip up and make that game unimportant.
  21. YES! If Oden is truly going pro, and with the news Green and Hibbert have declared, that pushes the chances of Hibbert being there for the Bulls up.
  22. When was that? If Stanton was ever the #1 QB in this class it's news to me and reason enough to stop paying attention to whatever source made that claim. Probably before Weis came to Notre Dame and turned Quinn into a top notch NFL prospect. VY would have been a senior this year but I don't think he was rated all that highly going into Texas' national championship year. He was still thought of as good but I don't think he was projected as the best QB in his class. Yes, it was after his sophomore season.

    Week 2

So, I had Escobar go on the DL yesterday. He had a scheduled start today. Am I allowed to pick up a starter to take his place? For the record, that only puts me at 5 starts this week. For some reason Capuano, who pitched Sunday vs the Cubs, doesn't go again til Monday, thus has 0 starts this week. Hamels pitched Monday and goes today. I already picked up a guy who starts today, so let me know if that's legal or not.
  24. Congrats man! Wonderful news. May he bring you joy eternally. BTW, you gotta change your screename to cbbryansr, so we can know the difference when your son starts to post here.....in oh about, 2-3 weeks.
