  1. I really wonder what they would do with that pick. Quinn won't be there...he's gonna go to Cleveland. It's probably too high to get Landry. I don't see us taking another running back in Petersen... Trade back with Dolphins if Quinn drops? That would make the most sense. I don't think the Bears want to stay at #6. Nine isn't much better (as far as having to pay out a cheaper contract), but the extra pick I'm assuming they'd pick up would make it worth it. I think we could see a case of the Bears picking BPA at 9, and then overdrafting a couple players at 31 and 37 so they can get some relief with their salaries. Maybe reaching on a LB like Durant at 31, though there are rumors he could go to the Colts at 32. And maybe reaching for a safety at 37.
  2. That's a lot of pitches for 0 walks and without having an abnormally high K number.
  3. Pirates are 6-0 vs. the Astros. Won 2 of 3 last week at St. Louis. Other than that, 2-9 (includes being swept by Cards at home).
  4. Would the Denver deal be straight up? AND HOORAY ABOUT LANDRY! Not sure, but my guess is yes. And I would probably take it. Over the Washington deal if it's actually available? It depends. I would actually prefer the Bears lose Briggs and get an extra pick instead of lose him and just get a higher pick. If the Bears had a trade down in place where they picked up 2 picks, I'd prefer the Skins deal.

  6. Anybody heard Briggs to Denver for their 1st rounder (I believe pick #21)? Also, apparantly if the Washington trade happens somehow, the Bears are not only interested in Quinn, but also Adrian Peterson and Laron Landry.
  7. Angels up 11-2 in the 4th. Wood is 0-2, with a K and a GO to 1B. Only Angel without a hit so far.
  8. For the record, if the Bears stay at 31 and 37, I hope they can get Grubbs and Steve Smith. If they can find a way to get an extra pick between 50-75, I hope they go after Justin Durant. Despite what many experts think, I don't think the Bears are going to go after a DT early. I'm about 60/40 that they WON'T even address the OL early in the draft. I'm 110% sure they won't go after a TE earlier than the 4th round, if at all. I think they will draft the best player available whenever they pick, but I look for them to choose between a WR, OL, S, LB with the first 2 picks.
  9. Jarrett's not really a "playmaker", though. I think of him like Moose was for Carolina. Very steady WR. Not necessarily a pure possession WR, but not a guy that is gonna get a lot of yards after the catch. Steve Smith on the other hand is one of the truest RAC WRs to come out of the draft in a while. I don't think the Bears could go wrong with either. But I think the best fit for a supposed west coast offense that wants to get rid of the ball quickly and get some RAC yards, is clearly Smith. Not sold on Gonzalez.
  10. Yes, that's always nice too. He had been batting 2nd recently too, which I think is a great spot for him. What the heck is wrong with Tex? off the roids, i guess. i dunno, he hit homers like a maniac last year in the second half...guess i have to hope for that again. You could make a nice team of guys whose power production is way down. Lee, Teixeira, David Wright, Soriano

  12. And next time up....exact same situation. Kinsler actually gets to hit and hits a RBI double.
  13. Uh, Wow. What do you guys think of this call? Down 3-0. Leadoff double by Blalock, Ian Kinsler (.333, 8 HRs, 19 RBI, 2-4 career vs. Paul Byrd) up to bat.....AND HE SACRIFICES, with Brad Wilkerson on deck! I don't know if Kinsler missed a sign, but why would you give up an out with what has been your best hitter (only regular with a SLG over .450), when you are losing?
  14. Go ahead and pick. Looks like texascub picked Jacoby Jones already.
  15. This is the line up I want to see, everyday! ditto I prefer to have Ramirez 4th, as he's more of a threat to get on base than Soriano. yep, makes a lot more sense to have Ramirez 4th. Soriano can run more too out of the 5-hole, theoretically.
  16. That's interesting. Definitely hope all goes well.
  17. I'm down 23 with a 2-start advantage for the week. I like my chances if I can keep pace offensively.
  18. Agreed. A long-term deal doesn't make much sense at this point. The Cubs control him for 2 more cheap years anyway.
  19. I don't believe that's possible. Maybe Furcal.
  20. I hope this doesn't catch on as a K catch phrase. Fixed.

  22. Felix with a 4-game hit streak and 4 for his last 10!
