  1. Um...did someone suggest moving Alex Brown? http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl#388453 Eh. Alex is a better player than Ogunleye, and IIRC, he has a friendlier contract. It doesn't make sense to draft a player in order to trade someone else. Should have worked out something in order to get an extra pick. Beat me to it.
  2. What happened to Mitch Atkins?
  3. No real reason to ever go with 12 pitchers. If you have guys with options, you can bring a couple guys up and send a couple down when guys are overworked.
  4. If you send Cedeno down, there is just 1 person on the bench capable of playing the 3 IF positions (1B doesn't count as anyone could play that). ARam and Derosa have missed time this year already. One injury away from having Michael Barrett at SS. It has to be Murton or Pie.
  5. 14 TBA for Dontrelle. Should have a 30 point lead going into the final day with 2 starts to 1. A big offensive day and 2 good starts and I could not only get a huge win, but become the league's highest scoring team.
  6. Manuel Ramirez and Doug Free are still out there too. I do like both of those guys. If they are on the board, still decent pick ups. I wonder where they would have gone if Grubbs was on the board at 31.
  7. I don't find that suprising at all. Pittman would be a worse version of Benson, and APete has some bulk too. Why draft duplicate players? Pittman is a very different back vs Benson. More of a slasher. He was held back at OSU because T. Smith ran alot with the ball. I think he is gonna be a stud in the NFL. Yeah, completely different. Benson's what 225-230? Pittman's 207, runs a 4.4-4.5. He's a completely different type of back.
  8. Beekman has got to be one of those picks, IMO.
  9. LB I've never heard of.
  10. Garrett Wolfe. He's good. Rather have Pittman, though.
  11. Antonio Pittman and Tanard Jackson?
  12. Monumental win. This is why I said I wanted this win. Heat down 3-0. White out. They had everything going in their favor and the Bulls came from behind on the road to beat them. Huck the Feat. It's OVER!

I guess an argument could be made. Pie is a future Gold Glove winner, Butler a future DH. Butler's probably the best pure hitter in the minors today. Pie obviously has the speed advantage. Power-wise, short-term definitely an edge to Butler, but long-term, I think Pie could easily hit as many HRs.
  14. I would love for the Bulls to win this game. Moreso than any other game in this series. The Heat talked that "just taking it easy until the playoffs" crap all in the first half. Then they said, "when Shaq gets back...." Then it was "when Wade comes back". Then it was "nobody wants to play us, blah, blah, blah". Now they are at home, and I think everyone is still giving them a pass believing they can come back from 2-0 like they did in the Finals last year and they can turn up the intensity when they want to. Well, nothing would be better than to beat the crap out of them in Miami and put them down 3-0.
  15. If healthy, with Landry and if Briggs is replaced adequately.....the Bears could have the best defense they've had since 1985.
  16. Doesn't make sense. If the Raiders aren't getting Quinn, then he'll be there for the 3rd pick. No need for Cleveland to trade Braylon. That sounds like a ploy by the Raiders. "Give us Braylon, or we'll draft Quinn". I think Cleveland like Russell better anyway.
  17. If Eric Patterson has a better career than Delmon Young, the Cubs will be in great shape for the future.
  18. I understand what you are saying but the risk that he sits out the season is a real one and something that should be considered. I doubt they would be considering trading him right now if he had generally agreed to play as a franchise player this year. I think the Bears preference is that he plays for them this year. They are seeking to trade him because of his threat to never play for them again. Agreed. That is why they are trying to trade him, but that shouldn't mean they take a less than desirable deal for him. I know full well they won't get 2 1st rounders. They probably won't even get what he is fully worth. But they aren't gonna draft a player as good as Briggs so, the Redskins deal (which is essentially a 2-for-1 deal for the Skins) isn't good enough.
  19. That's how I am for the most part. I wouldn't mind them drafting every position except DE and possibly CB, if they move Danieal.
  20. I don't think it's about whether or not you think Briggs is bluffing. It's about making the best move for your team. A deal should only be made if you think it makes you a better team. If some team makes an offer for Urlacher that improves the Bears, they should make that trade too. The possibility that Briggs may never suit up for the Bears again is just icing on the cake.
  21. Yeah, I still feel that way too. But as was pointed out there are a ton of rumors floating that Miami would be interested in trading up to get Quinn at #6, so Minnesota doesn't get him at 7. Even if Cleveland takes Quinn, there's a good chance Minnesota could take Peterson, so there will be plenty of teams wanting to move up to take him also (GB, Buffalo, Houston). I'm pretty sure it's contingent on who's on the board at #6, because I don't think the Bears want to be stuck at #6, and like said, have to pay a rookie just as much as they would have had to pay the proven Briggs. Bottom line, getting an extra pick is more valuable than moving up in the draft and losing a pick of their own. If they can get that from another team via Washington, it's still a good deal.
  22. So, I think it's reasonable for the Dolphins to also at least throw in the 7th pick of the 3rd round. So, that would be: 9, 37, 71. I'm thinking: Okoye/Willis at 9. Smith/Jarrett at 37 (Grubbs will be gone by this pick, IMO). And I think they might be looking at RB for the 71st pick, unless a LB they like is on the board (and they don't take Willis in the 1st).
  23. I really wonder what they would do with that pick. Quinn won't be there...he's gonna go to Cleveland. It's probably too high to get Landry. I don't see us taking another running back in Petersen... Trade back with Dolphins if Quinn drops? That would make the most sense. I don't think the Bears want to stay at #6. Nine isn't much better (as far as having to pay out a cheaper contract), but the extra pick I'm assuming they'd pick up would make it worth it. I think we could see a case of the Bears picking BPA at 9, and then overdrafting a couple players at 31 and 37 so they can get some relief with their salaries. Maybe reaching on a LB like Durant at 31, though there are rumors he could go to the Colts at 32. And maybe reaching for a safety at 37. But in order to get to 9, they presumably have to get the 6, and in order to get the 6, they have to give up 31. Right? In theory, they would do this: Briggs and 31 for 6, then 6 for 9 and a mid round pick. That leaves them with 9, 37 and then a bunch of mid rounders. Oh yeah, forgot about that. Mid-rounders can be nice, though. I figure they would at least get a 3rd.
  24. Maybe reaching on a LB like Durant at 31, though there are rumors he could go to the Colts at 32. And maybe reaching for a safety at 37. I just keep hearing about how trade downs are going to be so difficult in this draft. I don't think there will be any trade downs out of the top 10. I think you can possibly see the 2-4 picks traded (TB moves up to take Johnson) and the 3-5 (Arizona moves up for Thomas) and 6-9 (Miami up to take Quinn). I don't think anyone is going to be willing to give up what they would need to in order to get into the top 10 and the teams in the top 10 will ask for the world to leave their positions.
