    Week 8

Oswalt vs. Lincecum. Nice pitching matchup, but it's because they are the same person. And to prove my point. Oswalt- 3 IP, 0 hits, 1 K 7-1 GB/FB, 30 pitches Lincecum- 3 IP, 0 hits, 2 K, 6-1 GB/FB, 30 pitches.
  2. I really hate the offensive line situation as is. It was just a slightly above average line last year anyway. They are a year older, and it scares me whenever a NFL line stays nearly completely healthy for the next year. Smiley would go a long way to help, as would one of the young guys being better than expected.
  3. I wouldn't exactly call that major WR talent. It's above average, but hardly elite. Yes, it's better than the 85 WR, but 85's offensive line blows the current line out of the water, and Payton was still a 1500 yard, 4.8 ypa RB that season. Then you have the McMahon vs Grossman comparison. McMahon is overrated due to the hype and the SB victory, but he's still probably better than Grossman. I think the 85 offense, relative to their league, was much more talented than the 07 team will be. Remember, in 07 they were 2nd in points and 6 in yards . What year is this?
  4. Vlad signed when Sosa was still great. Alou is the player that kept the Cubs from going after Vlad. They were paying Moises big money and he was coming off a mediocre year which followed a crap year.
  5. Vlad all the way. Of course, this was the year where I said he would have a down season.
  6. I voted like the actual voters will vote. It basically came down to Reyes or Chipper. But I voted Reyes because of his position and baserunning. 1. Reyes 2. Chipper 3. Hanley 4. Hardy (if season ended now, he'd probably win, but Reyes will win when all is said and done) 5. Bonds

    Week 7

You weren't even on the radar before this week. I guess outscoring me by 100 will get you there.
  8. I'd imagine that the Bears are going to have to readjust the return strategy every few weeks in order to keep up with what the opposing teams are doing, but hopefully Toub is up to the challenge. Eh, I don't like it. If it ain't broke..... I think Hester benefitted from having to go East to west. You get your returner moving (especially one this dangerous) and it causes the other team to possibly leave their lanes to chase the ball. If a team kicks it short, just let AP get a few yards and be happy with the field position. If you have someone else back there, there's no reason to kick the ball to Hester. You can kick it directly to Manning, who is fast, but odds are he won't be close to the returner that Hester is. I do imagine though, that the Bears will stack both returners and keep them there until the ball is kicked, which should at least keep them from kicking at Manning consistently.
  9. I did and you declined. Let's negotiate.
  10. Hope everybody has their credit cards ready. No reason why the Cubs shouldn't sweep tomorrow. All your promises of premium are written (er typed) in stone.
  11. I wonder if Alex had a heads up about this...perhaps why he's seeking a trade. I forget it it was Lawrence Holmes or Zack Zademan that was saying how good Hester looked out there catching passes, but admitted it will be different when there's contact. I still prefer Lovie's style of simply giving the starting job to the high performers, at least in many cases. We've been on the other side of this coin. The Dick Jauron / Dave Waanstedt style of "you're the veteran, you get the job unless you're injured" is B.S. and quite simply does not work very often. If Alex Brown can't handle it, then he should play better. He's a guy who has never really realized his full potential IMHO anyway. Mark Anderson flat out played better than Alex last year. Agreed, but then how do you explain Alex Brown behind Ogunleye. I thought Wale was in for a big year up until the Seattle game. He got hurt and didn't do anything the rest of the year. Alex was better against the run, had more sacks, forced fumbles, had 2 picks.
  12. I have to add Billy Wagner and Felix Hernandez to this list. Wagner (along with Johnson) used to throw the slider to RH hitters and it would finish behind them at about 89-91 mph.
  13. My immediate thought when hearing about this supposed shakeup was Guzman to closer's role. Marmol to the rotation. Soriano to 2B is an intriguing thought, though. DeRosa hasn't hit much in May (surprising is 2-21 vs. LHPs), and I think Lou wants to get Floyd and Murton in the lineup more.
  14. That's a good idea provided the Cubs either a) win more consistently or b) lead more consistently by 3 or less in the 9th.
  15. I want a scoring big man so bad. But I don't want to give up any of the core to get him. Deng, Gordon and Hinrich aren't easily replaced. Would have been so easy had the Bulls just drafted Brandon Roy last year. Was it even possible to get Tyrus and Roy?
  16. If the Bulls are at #9. My top 5 are: 1. Conley-- I think he's too talented to pass on even with big men on the board. 2. Hawes 3. Hibbert 4. Noah 5. Thornton I'd probably even be tempted to overdraft on one of the big guards (Nick Young or Byars).
  17. http://assets.chicagobears.com/UserFiles/Image/story_photos/shirt_inside.jpg McGowan's still a Bear? I thought they lost all the backup safeties this offseason.

    Week 7

My points are going to Santana and Sizemore first and foremost. I have 2 exempt players at the top of their positions in Hamels and Kinsler. After that, I may have to decide on 2 of 3 of Wright, Morneau, Crawford. Owings and Butler will likely lose minor league eligibility by mid-June.

    Week 7

Has him on the bench though. His bench of Pence and Brad Wilkerson are 10-12 this week with 3 HRs. His starters are 14-72, with just 1 HR. His OF and U are 2-32.
  20. Hamels is 2-2 at the plate. Brewers are 0-15
  21. charlie manuel might put him in the bullpen and then beat up a reporter that asks why. That's hilarious. Both lines.
  22. I don't like that the key to this team (the defense) has a bunch of unhappy people. I think you gotta worry about the unit as a whole if Briggs doesn't play, Urlacher is upset over the way Briggs has been treated, Alex wants out, Vasher wants paid, Tank and Dusty are coming off injuries.
  23. I know they were the first team to sign ALL their draft picks last year, but I don't know if they signed the first.
  24. The Rockies are gonna have to eat a crapload of Helton's contract. They won't get nearly enough for him either. I don't think he goes anywhere.
