  1. Interesting night for Cole Hamels. Gives up all 3 ERs on back-to-back-to-back HRs. Delgado (Stealth), Wright (me), Loduca all hit solo shots. With 0 of those HRs= + 14.25 for my team. Without Delgado HR= -6 for his team, +4.75 for my team. Without Wright HR= -1.25 points for my team My offense is gonna really have to keep it going this weekend. I'm down 5 starts to 3 (or 4 if I want to throw a crappy pitcher vs. the Indians).
  2. Probably not, because if he would have made the play, Stewart never bats and it's a perfect game.
  3. Any chance the Bears would be interested in Culpepper? Apparently, 3 teams have shown interest but don't want to be known because of the sensitive nature it could take with their current QB. That kinda sounds like the Bears. Plus, they saw Daunte twice a year for Minnesota, and know what he is capable of. At this point, if they are interested, the smart thing to do would be to wait until the Dolphins cut him, unless they feel he is worth giving up a 6th round pick.
  4. Wow. Carl Crawford going for the best offensive week of the year. The high for a single week by an offensive player was set last week by Gary Sheffield with 48.25 points. ARod and Prince Fielder had monster weeks in week 3 and 5 respectively, with 47. I thought for sure one of them had the high. But Crawford is at 34.25 points halfway thru 4 games this week. He's vs. the Marlins this weekend in a great triples park.
  5. You're lucky he made it thru 7. He had a good shot at negative points.
  6. I'm thinking it will be Cedeno also. Think we will see a lot of this lineup: Theriot Pie Soriano Lee Floyd Barrett Derosa Izturis Not that bad if Pie keeps hitting and Floyd does what he did last night more consistently.
  7. Some of us have been appreciating Felix for 5 years already.
  8. I'd rather have a guy loaf to first on a sure groundout and be able to play the entire and lead the team in HRs and RBIs than have him get hurt on a play he would have been retired on anyway.
  9. I think Crede is a goner after this year anyway and he's been struggling. Good move by the WSox. Crede went to the DL. But he probably won't get his job back if the Sox have any sense.
  10. Looks like Aramis is at least gonna be day-to-day. And thanks to the brilliant idea to have 12 pitchers, 6 OFs, and 1 backup IF....that leaves no backup IF while Aramis is out. Meaning, another roster move has to be made. If they don't DL Ramirez, there's only 2 logical guys at risk of losing their roster spot: Angel Pagan and Sean Gallagher. If it's Pagan, the Cubs are still a bat short, if Aramis is unavailable. IF it's Gallagher, it's the shortest callup in ML history. I think a big key is who the Cubs bring up. On the 40-man, there's ML experience with Cedeno, Moore and Fontenot. But could this be a chance for Eric Patterson? Would the Cubs make another 40-man move to get Eric in everyday at 2B, and move DeRosa to 3B? Is Eric even in the Cubs plans at 2B anymore?
  11. Pretty swimmingly, since Zito is a Giant. Heh. I'm not a big Milledge fan either. If the Cubs can get Pelfrey, though, that's the start of a good deal. I still think there are teams that could give up more in the way of ML talent.
  12. And a 37 point game from Escobar put me back ahead. I thought for sure I was gonna have a huge deficit after I saw CC pitched a SO. But Escobar came up big as did my offense.
  13. Don't know why they ever moved him back to the rotation. That's like having Mike Wuertz starting games. Fastball/slider combo, much more effective (velocity wise) in short stints.
  14. They play 1 out innings in the FSL. So, that makes that number pretty solid. No, seriously, I hope this is just a temporary move. I do think longterm he's a short reliever, but if you draft a guy as high as the Cubs did, you have to give him the innings over less talented arms.
  15. I like the idea of points for receptions, but I think it causes WRs to become too overvalued and RBs skyrocket. I do think QBs are overvalued now (should not get 6 points for TD pass, more like 4). But I don't think we should do both receptions and decrease QB points. One or the other. I like a window to trade. But I can't see getting anything back of value that I would keep unless we trade draft picks. As it stands, I'm gonna have to drop 3 of Palmer, Portis, Wayne, Ro. Brown. I can't see getting anything in return that will make me drop the one I keep or Bush or Gore, who I am nearly 100% sure I'm keeping.
  16. I don't remember mine completely, but I will edit once I get home and can get on the site. QB- Carson Palmer RB- Clinton Portis Reggie Bush Frank Gore Ronnie Brown WR- Reggie Brown Reggie Wayne
  17. I believe this was the rule in the first year of the league, until we realized the issue with the database. But I believe that has since been changed.
  18. Man, that's a tough matchup to start with. What happened to getting the rookie in vs. the Nationals?
  19. Cubs are so clutch. Imagine how good those numbers would be if Barrett, Jones and Izturis were 2-4-6 in ABs w/ RISP.
  20. While, I'd love to see a guaranteed .350 OBP up there, it's a great spot for Felix to be in. I'm not sure if I believe in protection, but if batting behind a baserunning threat and ahead of a great hitter makes a player see more pitches to hit, then Pie is in the perfect spot. I wouldn't set the lineup in stone, but give Felix 10 days or so there and see what happens.
  21. I think the problem he has is his comparisons were called pointless, which was completely unnecessary. I think Goony could have made his point without the condescending remark.
  22. I think an appropriate metaphor for this draft is the Cubs #9 pick and how his career panned out. it's pretty lame to criticize a draft where 6 of the team's top 7 picks are pitchers that blew out their arms before reaching AA. this certainly isn't a case of busts or improper development. certainly there can be criticism for picking Clanton and Brownlie due to known or knowable injury problems, but even taking that into account, I imagine the odds against so many injuries is astronomical. I don't think it's necessarily abnormal to see all the injuries that group has had. Pitchers get injured all the time. I would say, though, that it is abnormal that all of them suffered so badly, so soon.
  23. I thought 2001 and 2002 would be the best back-to-back drafts in MLB history. So, much talent drafted in those 2 drafts.
  24. Cedeno needs to be promoted to the majors, Pagan sent back to the minors. Main 2 reasons. 1. The Cubs are playing with 1 backup IF. This is the reason we get Izturis batting with RISP in a close/late game. Gives the team more flexibility to PH in situations like last night (which Izzy actually came thru). 2. Moves Pagan to the OF in Iowa, and Patterson back to 2B.
