  1. I'm gonna be starting the first year of a keeper league, so everyone is up for grabs. I just got word that I have the #2 pick in the draft. So, great I get my choice of Larry Johnson or Stephen Jackson (leaning toward Jackson). But I don't pick again (12 team league) til 23rd. I have been offered to basically trade draft picks for the entire draft from 2nd to 9th. My question is 2/23 better than 9/16?
  2. Convinced me! Plus, I don't want to face Jon. I don't really want to face you either.
  3. .258 obp 579 ops I should have clarified. I meant just defensively.
  4. pretty much It's the Cub way. I think Hill is a bad player. That being said, he's been ok this year and has worked well with the pitchers. I still think Soto will be up this year to stay. Hopefully the Cubs go with Soto and Bowen with both getting equal time after the break.
  5. two DL stints because of a hamstring issue, and one because of a calf issue. I wouldn't bother with him. The chances that he will remain healthy are low, and when Lou doesn't play him everyday he will be upset. Oakland pays his salary still. The Cubs would have to pay next to nothing. Worst case scenario, he plays a handful of games, and is a 100X better version of Angel Pagan. Best case, he actually gets on the field and platoons with Floyd and/or Pie.
  6. Powerthirst is AWESOME. Rawberry is my favorite. Of course it is!
  7. Tough one. I hate Cowboys fans and Chocolate Milk.
  8. And only 1 of them is performing at a respectable level. DFA Jock. Bring him in. He gets hurt, you're no worse off than you were before.
  9. Those seals had it coming! I wish I could change my vote simply because of your avatar. That's great.
  10. Petrick's last 10 outings... 15.2 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 23 K. I still have some hope for him. I really hope he can find his way back into the rotation. you think he profiles better as a starter? or you just want him to get more innings? I've been really impressed with his work as a reliever; maybe that's the best place for him, especially given his health history. It really depends on how well his slider and change progress - if they have come along well enough and health isn't an issue as we close in on two years since his surgery - he'd be more valuable as a starter. His sinker doesn't seem as strong as it used to be either. He's still about 1.24 GB/FB this year, but he was a guy who could put up a 3 in that category. I think the further he gets removed from surgery, the more value he would have as a starter also. He was a poor man's Brandon Webb before. With a power sinker like he had/has, his secondary pitches don't need to be great, just serviceable. However, if he's gonna be a reliever, he'd be a good fit there too. As a reliever, he could be ML ready very soon.
  11. You should trade Lincecum to me. We do share the same birthday. I have a nice shiny 1st round pick you can have.
  12. Probably too soon. Wouldn't have minded him spending the entire year in Daytona.
  13. yay! Santana. 1 K 92 pitch CG shutout vs. the Mets. My offense is also back this week, with 5 guys in double digits to my opponents 0.
  14. Makes no sense for the Padres to give money, when they are taking on the salary in the deal.
  15. I should vote for Davhern just b/c I get tired of having the same opinion on every subject. group think?
  16. Um yeah.....I voted for me. Everyone else should too.
  17. Why you gotta make it a race issue?! Too many factors involved in a trade to vote 100% yes or no. That being said, I voted yes.
  18. I think I actually like the trade. Barrett has regressed defensively this year and he's not hitting enough, like in the past, to negate his defensive liability. I think Rob Bowen has the potential to be a very good catcher. He's only 26. Has good power, which will increase playing at Wrigley and vs. the NL Central instead of the West. He has a great eye at the plate. He is better at this point in his career than Barrett was as a 26-yo in Montreal. He has similar power, but much more strikezone judgement. He's under Cubs control for about 3 more years, whereas Barrett is done after this year. I don't know that the trade makes much difference in 2007, but for the future, it's a very good trade.
  19. I understand that LA has a "star power" image to uphold, but can they really market a disgruntled Kobe very well? That's why a 3-team deal may have to happen. There are plenty big names available (Jermaine O'Neal, Garnett, Marion, etc.). If the Lakers can get one of those guys plus Gordon, and some young talent they would probably be a better team.
  20. A couple things. The whole stars win titles thing: most teams have had 2 stars. Lakers had Shaq/Kobe, Lakers had Magic and Kareem, Celtics had Bird and McHale, Spurs have(had) Duncan/Robinson and now Parker, Bulls didn't win til Pippen became a great player. So, yeah gutting the team is a legit concern. To me the key is Deng. If the Bulls can get Kobe, while keeping Deng, I really don't care who else they trade. As for Kobe not being the Bulls biggest need, I disagree. Sure everyone would like a Gasol type player, but Kobe can hide the need for a big man. He basically negates a Rip Hamilton, Arenas, LeBron, Vince Carter in the East as he can outscore all of them and D them all up. Kobe and Deng would basically be like Jordan and Pippen. And certainly the Bulls can get at least as much out of Wallace and whoever plays the 4/5 that the 90s Bulls got from Cartwright, Perdue, Wennington, Rodman, and Horace.
  21. Cole Hamels gets blasted in Cleveland, but I was still in good shape until Ned Yost thought it was a good idea to bring his most prized arm out in the 7th inning with 93 pitches in his ML debut. HR, out, walk....inherited run scoring makes a great 22 point start, a mediocre 14.
  22. Period 12: 6/18/07 - 6/24/07 Severe Tooterstorms (5-6) at Raw Dawgs (9-2) Dishman's Dishmans (7-4) at Galesburg Hand Sanitizers (7-4) The Eyes of Texas (5-6) at Voo Doo Bayou Bashers (2-9) Fuzzy Logistics (6-5) at Draconian Empire (2-9) Buddiga (5-6) at Alamo Stealth (8-3) Urinal Cakes (3-8 ) at Northside Baseball (6-5) Harrys Budcrew (8- 3) at Quakers (6-5) Lynx (2-9) at NC Cubs (7-4)
