  1. And he's on my fantasy team. I benched him this week for Michael Barrett. I have Barrett and Victor Martinez. Started VMart at 1B. Had Barrett on the bench last week with 4 HRs. Prince on the bench this week. Probably gonna have 2 losses to show for it too! YAY!
  2. At least they didn't walk in the 2 runs like previous games.
  3. Theriot for starting SS! You actually think Izturis is a better option? No. I think all our options suck. Z for Brandon Wood, please. Trading a top 3 pitcher in the NL for a single prospect, is a bad idea. I never meant that was the full trade idea, just that those were the necessary pieces. Izzy and Ronny aren't going to work out. Theriot is nothing special. At best he's a poor man's Freel. Z's due for a major arm injury in the near future. Well, I don't have 100% faith in your prognostication skills, and I'm not a huge fan of Brandon Wood.

Trading a top 3 pitcher in the NL for a single prospect, is a bad idea. Didn't Wood move over to 3B because he wasn't able to handle SS defensively? I thought it was because of Orlando Cabrera being there for a while.

  6. Sweet! This team at the very least is entertaining. There must be somebody really good in teh 2008 draft.
  7. This is gonna be a very tough matchup for Pie. Any pitcher that can put the ball wherever he wants it with 2 excellent pitches is gonna be tough for him to hit for a while.
  8. Agreed. And you should have kept Gonzalez, dropped Freel, and make a trade for somebody needing a C or 1B, because you need a better 3rd OF than Church.
  9. What kind of league is it. If your league is roto, then definitely get Baldelli. I'd probably get him either way, actually. Pickup Baldelli, drop Frasor. Trade one of your OFs for some IF help. You could actually probably trade 2 of them (and/or Konerko) for a stud IF, possibly at 3B and move Hall to the OF.
  10. You pretty much just summarized the last ninety-five years in four sentences. Fixed.
  11. I'm with you, and they do play baseball the right way. I dream of a day when we play ball like that. Is this a joke? Do you guys know how many HRs the Sox hit last year and in 2005? Do you know their OBP for the 1-2 hitters? Stop it. It's grit and intestinal fortitude that wins games for the Sox. That was my point. How else does a team hit HRs? The Cubs aren't hitting the longball, because they are grit-less, ball-less freaks.

  13. That is interesting. I'd love to see a Bears draft board. Probably completely different from the consensus of the 26 teams using the scouting service. That's how you get players like Briggs, Tillman, Berrian, D. Manning, etc. who seemed not to be on anyone else's radar when they were picked.
  14. I would have much rather traded Gordon than Deng, even back then. Gordon has always been more of the offense, but I think Gordon's scoring is more easily replaced. Hard to find 6'8" forwards with that type of all-around game, especially considering he just turned 21.
  15. Justin Durant could be the 3rd most talented LB in this draft (behind Timmons and Willis). Really would like him on the Bears in the 3rd round....if he makes it that far.
  16. Don't mind Murton NOT starting this game. Jones has killed Suppan, so Pie is basically starting instead of Murton, which I'm fine with.
  17. My desired lineup for tonight. LF Soriano SS Theriot 1B Lee 3B Ramirez C Barrett RF Jones 2B Derosa CF Pie P Hill
  18. Why isn't he a starter anymore? Durability? Don't know, your guess is as good as mine. Hopefully he gets back into the rotation, he's been pitching great. 11.2 IP, 4 ER, 12 H, 10 K/2 BB, 3.08 ERA, 1.20 WHIP _______ Colvin got a double in the 9th but was stranded. Daytona loses 3-0. Hopefully, he can get in there the next time thru. He has thrown at least 2 2/3 three times in his last 4 outings. He should be about stretched out to go 4-5 and maybe piggyback with someone.
  19. New England Patriots select CB David Irons, Auburn. Samuel is on 1-year, as the franchise player. Not much depth, tired of playing Troy Brown at nickel. No LBs worthy right here. Was hoping the other Irons from Auburn would be here at RB to give Maroney a spell or Jonathan Wade, who I like better at CB. Lo. Booker was an option, but he's a lot like Kevin Faulk, who is already on the roster.
  20. That #4 pick could be very, very interesting. Trouble is, Angelo has already alluded to the idea that getting a high 1st rounder might cost more in salary than the team is planning on, given they still will need to sign a few high-profile guys soon. Yeah, but you can then trade down from 4. :D Teams have had a ton of trouble trading out of the top 10. That's why I doubt this goes down. I don't see Angelo going for it. May really be tough in a draft like this too, with only 1 "can't miss" player in the draft. If the Raiders pick Johnson #1, it could get interesting. Does a team trade up when there are 2 QBs on the board?
  21. 73 to 7.5. My boys have a lot of work to do. I need Johan to dominate (again) and get me a big score. My offense has got to wake up. I'm getting no power out of David Wright or Sizemore since the opening series.
  22. Eyre was the worst last year, IMO. Especially if you believe the excuse that Dempster struggled because of lack of regular use. Eyre's BAA, BB rate, and WHIP were horrible last year. He is the worst this year too.
  23. I thought Soriano looked good in CF. As for his value being hurt, I don't see why. He's still above average offensively as a LF. If you take his numbers from last year, he was the 4th best LF and 2nd best CF. If you assume a little better than his career numbers (.850 OPS), he becomes the the 8th most productive CF and 10th in LF. For the record, there are 5 LFs putting up a better OPS than Soriano had last year, and 7 CFs.
  24. The ROCK! So, 4 starters, 7 in the pen. 8 players capable of playing the OF.

    Week 3

Great week of games. Lots of high scores. Lots of close games. Makes for a fun season if this keeps up.
