  1. Looking at that chart, I wonder how we could have possibly done so bad against LHP last year. Guessing because they didn't have Soriano, or Derosa, or Lee for 80% of the year, or Theriot for 70% of the year, or Barrett for 25%. And instead they had Neifi, Cedeno, Blanco, Nevin, and Jones vs. LHPs.
  2. I was at Michaels (craft store) today and came across some string. It was called RexFlex. And I looked down on the second row, sitting right there together were the navy blue and orange spools of 10 yards of the string. I don't know what this means, but I thought it was a solid omen.
  3. Actually, UConn got beat by Marquette in their last game at home, ending a 31-game win streak at home. Still, that's a program defining win. Kelvin Sampson will be in Bloomington for as long as he wants the job. Amazing effort by the boys in red. They got manhandled on the UConn end of the boards, but they hit their free throws. 20-21 from the line, including 6 for 6 down the stretch. UConn was just 17 of 28 from the line, which was the difference. IU did a great job sharing the ball, with 18 assists on 24 baskets. The experienced stars stepped up with White having a monster 1st half and Wilmont doing it in the 2nd. I worry about going back on the road again on Tuesday to face the Illini. U of I hasn't been very good this year, but DJ is gonna be spent having played 38 minutes today and again having to face an athletic front line.
  4. 3.7 YPC is not decent. It's well below average. It's crap when talking about team's in the playoffs. On grass: Jones: 76 yds, 3.8ypc Benson: 41 yds, 4.2ypc I guess Jones is well below average too? Yeah he is actually. 4.0 is a decent average. Anything less isn't really an asset or is borderline so.
  5. I agree with everything you said, but one thing. The Saints LBs aren't good against the run. They gave up 4.9 yards per carry this year, 2nd worse in the league. Passes to the TE, Crossing patterns, and screen passes (if the Bears have any in the playbook) would all be successful along with running the ball straight at them. Also, Moose should have a big game. I'm guessing Thomas will be on him a lot, and Moose should eat him alive. Going thru their gamelogs...... When the Bears played NO last year, Moose had 3 catches for 98 yards, and had his biggest play of the season (33 yards). Moose also had some big games against NO while with Carolina, presumably with a lot of that coming on Thomas. I love the matchups in the pass game for the Bears, if Grossman is on.
  6. DJ was a beast! Very interesting team in Bloomington this year. This is a team that would have 7 losses if Davis was there. Very important to hold up your homecourt in conference. This was the one I was worried about as IU has had a game every 3 days for the last 2 weeks, after coming off the holiday break and going into UConn this weekend.
  7. Colts may very well blow out the Pats. I saw the Pats beating the Jets, Chargers, Ravens, and Chiefs, but not the Colts. As much as they have owned the Colts, I think this is the last team NE wanted to see. First of all, it's inside. Secondly, the Colts were constructed to beat the Patriots in the playoffs. I don't think there has ever been a more motivated team in playoff history than the Colts will be this week. I think it's almost personal for them.
  8. Drew Stanton is gonna be a steal for somebody. He's gonna be a good QB.
  9. Man, anybody with time on their hands want to calculate the average salary of players who had an OPS over .875 last year? Overbay is a steal at that money and 30 years old.
  10. Yeah, Berrian's drop was disappointing, but it was behind him. Still no excuse for not making that one. He coulda walked in, but Rex gets some of the blame. The Bears didn't do a good job with field position. That has gotta change next week. Kick coverage was lacking. Punting was mediocre. When they had good field position, they didn't take advantage. When they had the Seahawks backed up, they didn't take advantage. The one time they did, they made Seattle punt from inside the 10 and had the Hester TD called back and started inside the 30.
  11. I really have no idea how this game is gonna go. If the defense has 1 great game left in them....this is the time to have it. I don't have faith in either defense to stop the other team consistently. NO gave up 6.2 ypc vs. Philly. If they do that against the Bears, I don't care how good Grossman is playing...there's no reason to throw the ball. NO gives up big plays. The Bears don't, but they haven't played a team as capable of the big play as the Saints.
  12. Well, I disagree with a couple things. I think the block in the back did make the difference. Hester could have possibly made a move and beat the guy, but the block put him completely out of position. And the offensive line wasn't bad, blocking wise. Did have a few missed reads with blitzers running free on many occassions. They run blocked well and gave Rex time when Seattle brought less than 6. But I could be just jealous because you were there and I wasn't!
  13. Chargers have to be kicking themselves giving up that late TD. Huge difference between 14-10 and 14-6. Of course, they haven't been really stopped offensively yet, except by not catching the ball.
  14. Best boyfriend ever...haha hahahah no, i mean i knew it was cancelled and she got on a later flight last night, but i didnt even realize that if it wasnt crappy out i would've been sitting in a car when gould drained that FG. Believe me, it would have been just as exciting. Maybe even more so. When IU beat Duke to go to the Elite 8 a few years ago, I was in the car, and proceeded to get out and run down the street screaming.
  15. The problem with the pass D is the pass rush. Bears CBs played excellently today. Safeties were lackluster, but the LBs make up for some of that.
  16. Gotta have less D. Manning. The first TD drive was 80% on him (20% on the D-line). Defensive line play has been absolutely horrible for about 6 weeks. D. Manning is extremely gifted as far as his tools (probably faster than Tillman and Vasher), but his instincts and knowledge of where he should be has to improve. Agreed. And it's not gonna happen in a week.
  17. Worse defense? The Saints defense is ranked 4th in the NFC, with Seattle at 9th. Saints gave up 4.9 ypc this year, only team worse was the Colts. They did do well in ypc passing, but they gave up a 2nd worse 26 TD passes. I will give you that they are better statistically than Seattle. But I'm more confident with the Bears O against the Saints D than the Seahawks....especially outdoors.
  18. Gotta have less D. Manning. The first TD drive was 80% on him (20% on the D-line). Defensive line play has been absolutely horrible for about 6 weeks. Not just Manning, but Chris Harris was pretty bad too. They really miss Mike Brown. Dan Hampton was speculating on WGN radio that Cameron Worrell would start over Chris Harris if he was healthy. Somehow I doubt that. Yeah, Harris was bad too. But I think he's a better FS than Manning and Johnson is better vs. the run. Harris missed a ton of tackles that led to big Alexander gains. I still don't think Mike Brown is that big of a loss. Losing Tommie Harris has made this team an average defense. I thought it was lack of motivation in recent weeks, but they just aren't a great defensive team without Tommie.
  19. Gotta have less D. Manning. The first TD drive was 80% on him (20% on the D-line). Defensive line play has been absolutely horrible for about 6 weeks.
  20. I think next week's game is gonna be pretty comparable to this game. Throw in a better QB, the Reggie Bush factor, but also a worse defense, and I think we will have a similar score next week. Hopefully with the Bears on top still.
  21. Good lord, get off of grossmans jock. They weren't trashing him. I dont think they said anything that wasnt true. He threw the ball well overall, threw a good deep ball, but when pressured he reacted poorly. That's not true. I don't have a problem with anything he did, even the fumble. There were several guys running free at him today. He made no mistakes due to pressure.
  22. I was in highschool the last time the Bears won a playoff game. My eyes honestly welled up.
  23. Hell [expletive] yeah! What a game! Robbie Gould is my hero!
  24. Odd first half in State College. Got an IU team that doesn't allow many teams over 60, giving up 41 to Penn St. in the first half. 12-3 fouls called against IU. 14-4 PSU FT advantage. IU has hit 8-20 3s though to keep them in it.
  25. Jose Macias, Neifi Perez, Damian Jackson, Enrique Wilson, Rey Ordonez, Tony Womack, Jerry Hairston Jr., Cesar Izturis, Freddie Bynum, Ramon Martinez, Alex Gonzalez, Lenny Harris, Jose Hernandez and Augie Ojeda is a quick list of guys who got major league at bats during the Hendry/Dusty era and should never have been anything more than spring training invites. Shall I list the outfielders next or has a point been made that the alarmist responses are justified? All of those guys had major league AB's with other clubs too. It's not like Hendry is the only GM who signs these types of players. Every organization has players that are not valued by fans. That doesn't make it right.
