  1. I really think Carolina is a step below Kansas, Memphis, and UCLA. They don't guard anyone. I agree. I think we'd kill them. The only teams that scare me are UCLA and Memphis. That's not to say those are the only teams that can beat us. I think we'll lose 1 or 2 games before the tourney. But UCLA and Memphis are the only 2 I'd love to avoid in the tourney. I don't know if anyone can kill them because they score so damn many points. But as of right now I think you guys beat them. Is there any chance that the four 1 seeds end up anyone besides KU, Memphis, UCLA, and UNC? I really can't remember a year when they were all so clear. Yeah, I think those are the 4. Memphis may be undefeated going into the tourney, with their conference. KU will lose a few times, but unless someone pulls off an upset and wins the conference, they will be a 1. UNC has a pretty easy road in the ACC, as I think they are much better than the 2nd place team, Duke. UCLA has a tough conference, so they may be the only one in jeopardy of not getting a #1 seed. Of course, if they don't win the Pac10, WSU will probably win it and be the #1. Only other shots are MSU or IU (if one romps thru the Big Ten), Georgetown (who has already lost at Pitt in a tough conf.), and Duke or Texas (if one dominates the non-UNC/KU part of their conf.). Memphis could still lose, they still play both Gonzaga and Tennessee. Kansas, imo, could run their schedule. The Big 12 isn't all that good. UCLA would be undefeated, were it not for Collison being hurt. UNC, while better than Duke, shouldn't be penciled in to win those games. It is hard to beat a team 5 vs 8. Where's the Tenn/Memphis game? Not that it matters since it won't be a long trip either way, but if it's on the UT campus, they might lose that one. I think they destory the Zags. Big 12 isn't good, but Texas could give them a game. Also, KSU may be able to match up with them athletically.

  3. Top 25 struggling tonight. Dayton loses solidly at home to a pretty good UMass team. Xavier gets pounded on the road at mediocre Temple. Duke pulls out one vs. FSU. UNC in a battle vs. GT.
  4. I actually think Zbikowski can be a sleeper. Granted, he is almost an exact clone of today's Adam Archuleta scouting report wise. Strong against the run, big hitter, weak 1-on-1 cover skills, bad over the top as a FS. However, he can run a bit and seems like a smart guy and has had some college success. At worst, you have a pretty good special teams player with his solid straight line speed. But he also seemed to have some great ballhawking skills as a Sophomore. So maybe he could get some of that back. He would require a lot of coaching, though.
  5. Wouldn't it be great to have a rotation of Zambrano, Lilly, Marquis, Lieber and Dempster? Seasoned vets, man. Seasoned vets.
  6. Lieber's not good anymore. He never was that good in the first place. The worst part of this deal is it likely takes the Cubs out of any rumored deal for Blanton, Bedard, or Burnett (no matter how far fetched some may seem), as they would obviously feel they can get a 5th starter out of Lieber or Dempster....not to mention still having Marshall, Gallagher, and Hart.
  7. He won't be the best on his team.
  8. Haren's not gonna like pitching in Arizona much. The rotations for Arizona and San Diego are really dependant on Owings taking the next step and Chris Young bouncing back, respectively.
  9. can't blame you. plus this is a weak year for wide receivers, you should be gone by mid-second round at the latest I'll be gone by the mid-20s. I think even though they have a bunch of smaller WRs like myself, the Eagles could use a 3rd option and a great return man. TB could use me. And I could be the playmaker that Vince Young needs in Tennessee. No top notch WRs in this draft, but a lot of upside on the board. Kelly, Jackson, Bowman, Hardy, Doucet, Sweed, D. Thomas, Manningham, Caldwell, Bennett and Douglas could all be gone by the end of the 2nd. And I'm really intrigued by the 3rd-4th round group. Between Donnie Avery, DJ Hall, Lavelle Hawkins, Jordy Nelson, Arrington, Dexter Jackson, and Marcus Monk; I think there are a couple guys that are gonna be stars that are steals late 1st to early 2nd day picks.
  10. Gotta do what's best for my family.
  11. I'd be perfectly fine with Claxton missing a week with injury!
  12. Why can't I use HS ratings? I wasn't using it to state who is currently better. I simply used it to state that both are great, but one (Peterson) has historically been at the top of his peers. All else is pretty even. Both had great college careers. Size and speed are similar. FYI, McFadden was ranked 23rd by Rivals in 2005. Of the players ahead of him, at least 11 will easily be NFL players (1st day picks that will make rosters). Of that group, 3 will be top 20 picks this year, and 6 more will be first rounders in the 09 draft.
  13. I might like Closser before Hill as the first called up catcher.
  14. Bears/Colts was pretty regional too last year. Did anyone outside of Illiana and Tennessee (Manning) care?
  15. Penn State can rebound, but they can't shoot foul shots, so Wiscy just needs to "hack-a-shaq" them and they'll win Unless the Badgers are down towards the end of the game, they just don't foul. They are very sound fundamentally, don't reach, and move their feet. They play great man to man, position defense. I hate them. Wisconsin has always been fundamentally sound. I think Bo Ryan could coach a team of walk-ons to 20 wins. Always a tough matchup for IU because they don't make mistakes. Bo Ryan is the best coach in the conference. Wisconsin is superbly coached. Interesting games for both 3-0 Big Ten teams this week. Wisconsin at Penn State tonight, and Indiana at Minnesota Thursday night. The Barn has been a veritable house of horrors for IU historically, and Tubby has had great success against the Hoosiers (though mostly against the incompetent Davis). This will be IU's toughest, most likely loss since playing Xavier. If either team moves to 4-0, they'll be ahead of the curve. Ohio State at Michigan State tonight is also a big game. Minnesota really hasn't beaten anybody to date, unless you count Penn State, which didn't play very well. I think IU wins that game easy, D.J. White and Gordon will have big games. I think IU fans would be worried about a game at Minnesota if they were playing a Minnesota middle school team. IU has been better than Minnesota most of the last 10-15 years, and yet they've been absolutely terrible up there. It's a really cool court, but it's just turned into a house of horrors for the Hoosiers, including a long pass that probably would have tied the game in OT smacking off of the scoreboard and going straight out of bounds a few years ago. I'm convinced the lighting in that arena is horrible. IU can't seem to make shots there.
  16. Buchholz isn't that good. Certainly not good enough to consider for Zambrano.
  17. The thread would take longer, but it wouldn't give up 6 in the 1st. trick question....Trachsel would never make it out of the inning.

I've pretty much conceeded this game as a loss for IU for the reasons you stated. Looking at the schedule before the season, I would have said hope for 3 conference losses. Losing at MSU, Wisconsin and 1 of Minnesota, Purdue, Ohio St. would have been my best case scenario.

  20. I don't agree. Peterson is easily a notch better than McFadden. AD was the #1 recruit in his class out of HS, and it wasn't really even close. McFadden was in the 20s, in a lesser class of players. McFadden probably had the slightly better college career, but AD's college system translates(d) more to the NFL game. So, basically you have 2 guys with similar speed and similar stats, but one is bigger and has a better pedigree. I'll go with the guy who has been the best of his peers at his position since he was 16.
  21. Rematch of Texas in the Sweet 16 would be fantastic. Definitely got to get the 1 seed in the West and play the first two games 20 miles away in Anaheim. The West is still stacked. IU/Clemson, Texas/Pitt 2nd round games? I'd rather get that 3-seed in the Midwest instead of Wisconsin.
  22. I think if Houston goes RB (not a given considering coaching staff from Broncos offense), Mendenhall would likely be their choice. I think they would like his breakaway ability more than Stewart's and he would be a better fit to share time with whichever big back they keep (Green, Dayne).
  23. Gotta keep either Pie or Colvin. And I don't think you'll ever see a 7-for-2 deal. First off, nobody has that much 40-man space. Second, nobody wants to give up that much quantity, especially guys that close to the majors. Make it Bedard and Roberts for Pie, Gallagher, Marshall, Cedeno and Murton...and I'd do it. If Marmol is included take out one of the other pitchers.
