  1. It was determined earlier this week that Pie would sit "for a few days" while the team worked with him on some things offensively. With 2 lefties to finish this weekend, Felix should be in the lineup again on Monday vs. Maine. Also, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this ever in the history of this board, but don't base your opinions on Felix's 3 starts in the last 2 weeks, especially when he was pulled in the 3rd inning of one and the other came against one of the best RHs in the NL (Harang) and the other came against Myers (who dominated the entire Cubs lineup. Maine and Figeroa next week should be much better matchups for Lix.
  2. Agree on both. This is great news. And this is a fun team.
  3. Grow up people. It was a shot at us for all the shots we have taken at him about Dusty. Get over it. Let the jabs end both ways.
  4. Well, the lefties are facing different opponents, remember. Eventually, they won't be. Both should face the Cards to start the month of May.
  5. I can understand the other things (agreeing with them to varying degrees), but why Henry Blanco? Lou has only started him 3 times out of 15 games. That's normal for a backup catcher, and if you take Blanco away from Lou that only means that Lou will have Koyie Hill for those 3 games. I think keeping Blanco was a mistake. He's not a very good backup catcher in terms of what he provides from an offensive and defensive standpoint. Soto needs his rest, but, at the same time, I'd like to see a guy back him up who can either get on base or who is a plus defender behind the dish. I don't think Blanco is either. Blanco is typically a pretty good defensive catcher. Not so far this year, though.
  6. I would have though Lou would have taken this opportunity to throw Marquis on regular rest and not pitch the lefties back to back.
  7. I wasn't advocating trading up for McFadden. I wouldn't do that either. I just really don't want to give up anything of substance for Ocho Cinco. However, if he came for a 4th or 5th rounder only ala Moss, I'd gladly give that up. But I'm not giving up a first 3 rounds pick for a headcase when you still need someone to throw the ball to him and block for long enough to allow said person to throw.
  8. So, the Lakers lineup is not good enough to beat Denver, but they were good enough to finish 7 games ahead of Denver in the regular season with Bynum and Gasol not in the lineup for most of that season. Brilliant!
  9. Soriano 6 for 12 with 3 HRs vs. Snell. Hopefully, this is Eric Patterson's 2008 debut. Fontenot should be sitting. I'd like to see Cedeno start, but he's probably going to play Sat and Sun. Soto should have a good game against Snell.
  10. Good draft for the ATL. IMO, get the best defensive player, the best CB, and a potential franchise QB in their 1st 3 picks. Pretty realistic too, if you ask me.
  11. I'd rather trade up to draft McFadden over trading for Chad Johnson. Getting a star RB with a crap OL is better than getting a star WR with a crap QB. Barry Sanders made a crappy line look good in Detroit, Payton made a crap line look good for most of his career. There's not been a WR that has made a below average QB look good. I put more weight on this opinion when you consider the type of person Chad is and the fact that a guy like McFadden would be around still when the Bears are able to get/develop a good OL and QB.
  12. Love isn't the most physical guy, but he's got a decent frame. Could he add more muscle? Of course. But I don't think he's as fat as his detractors say he is. The Brad Miller comparison is a decent one. If I remember right, Miller really didn't start to develop a mid-range jumper until later in his career. Love already has a very effective mid-range jumper to compliment his game. He'll need some shoring up on defense, but I love his offensive game. Yeah, he's like Miller in his prime. Miller didn't really come into his own until his time with the Bulls. He was one of the hardest working players around, to become a 2-time all star based on the skill set he showed at Purdue. Love is miles ahead of what Miller was at age 19, is more athletic, and like you said, already has a mid-range game. Plus, he won't have to face the big C's as Miller did. Love will face fellow 4's which has become a finesse position in a lot of senses (Gasol, Sheed, Dirk, etc)...will be a nice change of pace.
  13. Love will have a difficult time defensively in the NBA. But he has all the tools (except hops) to score the ball offensively. Brad Miller has had a solid NBA career with 0 hops. Love is shorter, but much more athletic and has a much better offensive game. Zach Randolph is a lesser athlete than Love and has had a successful NBA career thus far. All in all, Love will be a good NBA player. Not a franchise player by any means, but he will have a 10-year career as a complementary player with a couple of AS game appearances.
  14. You should trade him to me.
  15. LA over Denver in 4 Dallas over N.O. in 7 PHX over S.A in 6 Houston over Utah in 7 Boston over ATL in 4 Detroit over Philly in 5 Orlando over Toronto in 6 Wash over Cleveland in 6 LA over Houston in 6 Dallas over PHX in 6 Boston over Wash in 5 Detroit over Orlando in 5 LA over Dallas in 6 Boston over Detroit in 7 Lakers over Celtics in 6 for NBA title.
  16. This trade sucked because I wanted Eric Weddle. He'd look pretty good as a Bear right now.
  17. Quietly, Zambrano has really kept the pitch count in check this year.
  18. Was hoping he walked to set up a Z grand slam.
  19. If Mrs. Lee wants sex with Derrek, does that mean that she's in the BEASTiality.
  20. Falling behind/ walking hitters is not a good idea tonight.
  21. How hurt is Hoffpauir? I wonder what would have happened if he had been healthy and playing in AAA. I could handle Hoffpauir over Murton. I can handle Patterson over Murton provided he is used properly (i.e. playing everyday).
  22. Beltran Jr. is hitting .381/.462/.500 with 8 walks and 4 strikeouts in 42ABs. If you project that to his 142 ABs of 2007, that's 28 walks (more than he had in his first 340 PAs in his career) and just 14Ks.
