  1. The Dope Show is over. His season in Lansing is one of the most dominant in minor league history.
  2. Watched the game on DVR last night. While, I have seen a few ST games this spring, I've only seen Fukudome throw like that once. I knew he had a great arm, but did you see that quick release? He looked awkward setting up, but the ball hit his glove then was in Ramirez's glove almost instantly. If someone has time, I'd like to see what Hoffpauir has done against major league quality pitchers this spring. Seems to me he's hit a lot off of fellow minor league players. That being said, who cares, I'd love to see him up this year. Also, I don't know if Theriot could hit a ball as far as the one Ronny hit, if he was standing on the warning track.
  3. I'm leading the league in scoring so far. Some things never change.
  4. I hate you SSR and Keener! :flame:
  5. While Hendry is MLB's worst GM, . hi http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2007/10/01/QuID8a3t.jpg http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/7236/ydzlcwewnq0.jpg Sup dudes? Greetings. http://cache.deadspin.com/images/2006/04/bowdenbowdenyar.jpg http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2006/writers/john_donovan/04/02/whitesox.williams/p1.ken.williams.si.jpg Don't let the ring fool you!
  6. Rockies didn't have the pitching to get to or go far in the playoffs. Imagine if they did.
  7. Maybe they ranked them by most recognizable names. Williams, Calipari, and Huggins are mediocre coaches. The first 2 just get great talent. Huggins is a great motivator. My top 5 would be Howland, Ryan, Miller, Bennett, Izzo.
  8. LH hitters vs. LHPs varies from year to year also. Jacque Jones is typically horrible vs. LHPs, but hit .295 vs. them last year.
  9. FWIW, the Cubs did go with 1 IF backup for a decent portion of 2007. For a while there, the bench was C (believe Blanco was hurt and Hill/Bowen was the backup), Ward, Murton, Pagan, and Fontenot as the lone backup IF.
  10. Its like a bad episode of Seinfeld The big toe is like the captain of the toes.
  11. Not really all that unbelievable. One can still hit .260/.310/.430 and be a 30/30 player. Stolen bases and HRs have never been Corey's problem.
  12. Vote for Pedro.....to be dropped that is.
  13. Give this man a prize. I used to post stuff about a lineup choices in the old days (circa 04' and 05') and get shouted down about how it does not matter where people bat so long as they get on base. Some of you need to take your own advice. It's not about the order. It's about Theriot at #1 in the lineup getting more plate appearances than anyone else over the course of the season and likely being the least productive player. He'd also project to get 60-80 more than Lee and Ramirez at 4-5.
  14. wow, who peed in your cheerios this morning? Sorry, #1 pet peeve is the misuse of there/they're/their Mine is then/than. 98% of this message board uses "then" when comparing 2 things and it completely gets on my nerves. BTW, I was thinking Stevie Wonder, Gap Band and Parliament Funkadelic should be on this list.
  15. Seems to me like you pretty much have to put Dempster in the rotation. The Cubs made up their mind last year that he was gonna get a shot to start. He has been stretched out this spring to do just that. Putting him in long relief does nothing for the team. He's not starting like he was conditioned all spring to do. He not closing where he has had success in recent years. He's also likely to take the longest to get stretched back out if he moves to long relief. My guess is Leiber goes to long relief. He's done it recently. He's said he's ok with doing it. Until Marquis gets traded or struggles, I think that's the way it will/should go.
  16. Except for the fact that, since the Orioles traded for Adam Jones and have Markakis in right, they have virtually no position for Pie. My feeling is that this writer is just using rumors from months ago to fill column space. Pie could be sent to the minors. Markakis could play 1B. Luke Scott could DH or play 1B. Pie/Jones could play LF.
  17. This quote should be used anytime someone (like Sam Smith) writes about how newspaper men are "real journalists" who have journalistic standards that separate them from bloggers. I'm actually starting to believe this may be the case. I could see both of those moves happening. Don't know that I would agree with either, but sadly I see it coming to that if it's gonna happen at all.
  18. That Peoria team looks like it will be loads of fun to watch. Average age might not be even 20. Cabrera's 19; Dolis and Huseby are 20. Pawelek's seemingly been around forever but is just 21. Vitters is just 18-19. Just on the surface, the Cubs look really young for all levels. Got some young kids skipping low A.
  19. -Buster Olney =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> Hopefully if a trade were to happen, Lou would want to appease DeRosa enough to at least give him a chance I'm sure speed would be a reason cited for why Derosa's chance falls short.
  20. That's not normal in a NCAA game. What happened?
  21. Noway thats right, everybody told me the Big 10 was pathetic, horrible, a joke, etc.... The Big 10 isn't that good. Hence the reason only four teams made the tournament. If the Big 10 had its fifth and sixth place teams make the tournament, you can be sure that the record wouldn't look as good. The Big Ten is horrible. Those 4 teams were all favored, 3 won. 1 is losing as an underdog now, 1 more will lose as an underdog tonight. UW will lose next week as an underdog to Georgetown.
  22. It does no good either. :) OMG, I can't believe I did that! Do you no the difference between know and no? Yes or know?
  23. Eh, if you're gonna drive down 5 this late, you gotta get to the rim or kick it out, a 15-footer does you know good.
  24. 3 here makes it interesting.
  25. Stanley Burrell. Young man has the distinction of sharing a name with MC Hammer. Also, Duncan is the best player on the best team in the A-10, yet he wasn't even on the first team all conference. Drew Lavender has mastered the art of the "floater".
