  1. Drew Rundle goes deep to end the Peoria 14 inning scoreless streak to start the season.
  2. Don't worry, though. Kroeger and McGehee both flied out on the first pitch to restore the universe to normalcy.
  3. Rhee thru 5 scoreless. 5 Ks.
  4. Hmm. Marshall bats for himself, but is taken out after 3 innings. How much did he start in the spring? Is this a case of needing him to get stretched out?
  5. Ceda: 2+ IP, 2 Hits, 4 ER, 4 BBs, 3 Ks.
  6. Matt Holliday. 1 for 14 with 6 Ks. Went 0-4 with the golden sombrero today. Add on.
  7. If Felix rarely puts the ball in play, then Fukudome and Soto are in the same boat. Pie has struck out 4 times in 13 ABs. Both Soto and Kosuke have 3 Ks in 10 ABs. Pie's K'ing once every 3.25 ABs. The other 2 are once every 3.33 ABs.
  8. They will get Mike Gonzalez back next month, I believe. I think they will have a solid pen once they get Gonzalez to go with Soriano at the back end of the pen. Moylan and Acosta are solid. Ohman has a chance to be solid if used properly, which isn't an issue w/ Cox.
  9. Ugh, why? This starter is a righty, as far as I can tell. Either Lou is already going away from him or Pie is hurting more than we thought from the HBP. Either way, I don't likey. N0, no, no guys - you've got it all wrong. Didn't you see Truffle's forecast? Lou's just playin' the odds and hoping to get as many righties in there to hit 'dem balls up into the jet stream . . . (wishful thinking, grasping at straws - hoping Pie's OK!) My guess is its a combo of a couple things. The HBP on the wrist, wanting to not have Reed get cold, having a pre-determinantion that Pie will play a couple games then get a day off. Pie has the second best batting average on the team among starters (.273) so it can't be because he hasn't been playing well. Pie's approach has completely abandoned him with runners in scoring position.
  10. Good day on the mound today.
  11. Looks like it was Ryan Meyers (came over in the Angel Pagan trade) and Jeremy Papelbon who blew it. Peoria lost 2-0. Jordan Latham gave up both runs (1 earned). Marwin Gonzalez and Jovan Rosa had the only 2 Chief hits. And those hits were the first AB of the entire game for Gonzalez, and a leadoff single in the 2nd for Rosa. That's an 0-24 after the 2 hits.
  12. Pirates, so I can get playoff tickets.
  13. Colvin w/ the lone Smokies hit.
  14. Interesting 5th for Daytona. A few rarities. - 2 base sac bunt - infield double -double w/ a runner at 3B and no score -fielder's choice fielded by the 3rd baseman, but a runner gets safely to 3rd base (I'm assuming he threw home and didn't get the guy).
  15. Ryno with the 1st inning sac bunt, after Gonzalez leads off with a hit for Peoria. May have never manage the major league Cubs.
  16. Daytona down 1-0 thru 1 1/2. Thomas and Wyatt led off with singles. Deep fly ball sends Thomas to 3rd. But Wyatt gets doubled up on a line drive hit by Clevenger.
  17. He may be my favorite low level minor league arm. This really sucks.
  18. "Is that it?!?" "Chad - this is your forum, what do you want to add?" "I don't know." "Chad, thanks for calling in and sharing with us." "Is that it?!?" "Chad, the floor is open, what would you like to say?" "I don't know" ... It was great! "What are you gonna do if the Bengals don't approve" "i'm, just gonna go out and embarrass DBs as usual" "But are you gonna keep quiet" "huh, yeah" "So, you're gonna keep quiet if they don't improve the team" "No. I'm not gonna change." Excellent.
  19. I understand the thinking behind taking Hester off some returns if he's gonna play WR. Dallas, Atlanta, and SF took Deion off 100% of the returns when he was playing both ways. Steve Smith and Reggie Bush are pretty good returners who don't return 100% of the time. Of course, Hester doesn't play everydown at DB anymore and is not ever gonna be the offensive player that Bush/Smith are. If he never touches another kickoff, he's an asset as a decoy making teams kick short and giving up field position to an offense that will need it. He should definitely be out there on most punts, because there clearly is nobody that has ever been as good at returning punts than he is.
  20. My team is weird too. They apparently like kicking the rest of the league's asses. Strange. .370 BA so far with a .452 OBP.
  21. I think Ellis and Bassett will be allowed back. The drug thing may be an issue, but I think it's pretty clear that wasn't the reason they were kicked off the team. If so, there would be other players gone also, from what I hear. I'd imagine both players will be on a zero tolerance type of deal. I'd guess they'd be suspended for a decent amount of time. It's still gonna be hard to completely discipline any player for any single thing or group of things that has happened since the Sampson firing. If there are deeper issues from when Sampson was in charge, well that's a different issue. And I believe if that was the case, that discipline would have been brought down a lot earlier than the day before a new coach was hired.
  22. Does that mean an incidental facemask will be no penalty or will be a 15-yarder also?
  23. I agree to some extent. I think in the past the Cubs were too aggressive, but now they are probably a touch too conservative for my liking on some players. I tend to agree on Reynolds and Hernandez. Disagree on Vitters.
  24. Wow, former UK and Louisville player, Marvin Stone collapsed and died in a game in Africa today. 26 years old and had a heart attack.
