  1. Kane and Keith are incredibly good.
  2. What's the chances the Cubs put him in LF after the deadline (assuming they don't upgrade there) and then work with him behind the plate all winter and spring and start him behind the plate in 2016?
  3. WTF is this? ONLY 31? On a team with prospects out the ass and a starting lineup that projects to have about 6 guys under 26 next year, you don't take a chance on a 31 year old that has proven he can't play in the MLB.
  4. Guys. Lester vs Scherzer tomorrow. Just make this the NLCS.
  5. Wonder has he ever met Cutler. Guessing not, just like all the other people who write [expletive] based on looking at someone's body language. It's funny because the majority of Cutler's teammates have said he's a great teammate, a leader, etc. but some kicker said something one time and a reporter didn't like the way he looked during a loss and he's permanently a heartless guy who doesn't care if his team wins or loses.
  6. Really would have liked Toews to score before that.
  7. Not a hockey expert by any means, but I was hopeful the adjustment to all the pressure in our defensive zone would lead to long passes ahead for potential breakaways.
  8. He's gotta get a year suspension after Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson. This sounds like it could be a combo of both. 6'4", 300lbs and likes to hit women. I hope he goes to a prison somewhere for the next several years. [expletive] this dude.
  9. I really like Syndergaard. They wouldn't take Baez for him and the Cubs wouldn't give Castro for him. But I'd pretty much trade any 2 non Schwarber prospects for Noah.
  10. No to Latos, but I'd do all those trades.
  11. Agreed. No chance in hell, I'd give Baez in a deal for these 2.
  12. Not even sure I'd even want to extend Cueto. But I'd probably do the trade because I really want Chapman.
  13. Not true. Well kept dreads are great. Patrick Kane is the only one that can pull off the mullet though.
  14. I read that lower sign as "BRAIDS" at first, then I read it as "BRA AIDS" which really cracked me up.
  15. Agreed. There's a fine line between looking like Bob Marley and looking like the Predator. Pretty much any risky hairstyle is not for ugly people. You have to be at least a solid 8 (male or female) to pull of a non-standard hair-do.
  16. Getting to the point where, if Wada falls flat, I want him to be considered for a 5th starter gig. Eh. Probably a little too soon for that. He hasn't been that good for that long. Less than a season's worth of starts above A ball, and about a handful of good ones. Best case (for him), I would think would be a couple Sept starts if the Cubs are out of the playoff hunt.
  17. What defines a feel? I would think they can get a feel without making a call and specifically ask. They should have a log of all communications with each team and be able to theorize their willingness to buy or sell based on those communications as well as the standings and/or financial situation of the other teams. They probably thought the Phillies would suck. 25% of the way into the season and Philly is not good. They are expensive and bad and not about to get better, so they will have a logical reason to be willing to trade veterans. I don't get why you don't think they would have a list of names without specifically asking the other teams if those guys are available. I didn't really think about preseason talks. "Hey, how you think you guys are going to do?" "IDK, Nats are loaded. If we fall behind we'll probably sell off some vets. Gotta build up the farm the way you guys have." That makes sense. And yeah, you can assume certain teams are going to suck, and assume certain players are going to be available from those teams.
  18. Huh? Why wouldn't they? I guess I don't understand the point. "Hey, you know who we should try to trade for? Papelbon." "Agreed. We could use him. Let's call the Phillies in a month to see how they feel about it." Obviously that's oversimplified, but I don't understand why a front office would talk about trading for a guy internally when you don't even know if he's available or what it would take externally. You have scouts checking players out all the time. But there's really nothing gained beyond "do we want him or not?" from the internal talks. And I don't know how anyone would know until it was at the point of calling the Phillies. I would think they keep a "wish list" of specific guys they have interest in talking about around the trade deadline. And they'd talk about who should be on such a list and/or who should come off of that list. Yeah, I get that. I just don't understand why you have that "wish list" without having a feel on if the players on the list will be available and what it might take to get him. And once you get a feel on that.....the talks are no longer internal. I do understand it's mid May and they have 2 1/2 months before making moves, but I would think if they are doing their due diligence to come up with a list, they are at least making preliminary phone calls.
