  1. Holy [expletive]! What balls to make this move!
  2. More games with Soler, Baez, Ramirez, Edwards, Soriano, Hamels, and Reddick.
  3. Word is that Marty really blew up when the team fired Trestman. The phrase, "going postal" was used in something I read today. I guess it makes sense he would be upset that he lost the guy that got him 90+ catches. But it sounds like this regime (Pace mostly, because I don't know that Fox and Co. have dealt with him much) isn't a big fan of his and he won't be back after this year.....if he makes it that far.
  4. Barney was outrighted to make roster space for Torreyes? That's hilarious. Made more hilarious by the fact that Torreyes had an OPS of .408 between AA and AAA this season. Heh. What's their complaint? He doesn't walk enough? Not enough power? Defense isn't very good? Torreyes is a younger version of all that.
  5. Was just looking at that yesterday, Then I saw that he's making 20 million four seasons from now, and I was happy we just traded for Montero. But, yeah, he's going off so far. Yeah, never a question he was going to be good this year. He's probably going to be good next year. But after that is what I was worried about. I'd take good-good-mediocre-below avg for 4 years at his AAV. But good-good-mediocre-below avg- bad at his AAV was scary, especially since the "good" years weren't guaranteed to be even this good. And the bad have really bad potential from an everyday catcher.
  6. Challenge everything. This game is kinda nuts
  7. Yeah, Keith is an easy choice, IMO. He's playing basically 2/3 of the minutes every night, he's 1 point behind Toews and Kane for the playoff points lead. He's also +15. There's nobody who deserves it more, hat trick be damned.
  8. That was my immediate thought as well. He was good, not great at AA(.840OPS). That's not the time of dominating I'd need to see in order to completely skip AAA. Eh, he's top 12 in the Southern League in OPS. I'd imagine he's at least one of the 5 youngest in the league. His numbers are very competitive with everyone not named Kyle Schwarber in AA. His numbers since the start of May would put him above Dan Vogelbach in the top 4 in the league. He's not completely dominating, but he's doing everything anyone could expect from him. May still be being rushed, but I don't think he'll be embarassed in the majors.
  9. Cubs get to face Buxton and Lindor next week.
  10. Twins calling up Buxton.
  11. Hanneman fails to hit for the cycle. Has to settle for 2 doubles, a triple, a grandslam, 2 runs and 6 RBIs.
  12. Yet he still hasn't caught on that all the Kardashians have "K"names.
  13. Olt wouldn't be on the ML team to give Bryant and Rizzo days off. He'd be here to provide RH power to replace the lost power from Soler, and playing at 3B, while moving Bryant to the OF on a more full-time basis. Basically, what Baez would be doing now if he wasn't injured. Of course, by the time Olt is ready to help, Soler will be back. Baez might even make it back before Olt. Even if he doesn't, it'll be a close enough timeline that I don't think Olt makes it out of Iowa as TT said.
  14. Yay, to road team not using closer in a close/late situation!
  15. Don't remember it taking that long for everyone to figure it out. I remember Kane being the only one who knew right away, but I would have guessed within 15 seconds that everyone knew it was over. That was 2 minutes before the official announcement and about 1.5 minutes before the Flyers realized what happened.
  16. Just catching up on highlights. Wow, I think that was a horrible send with Hammel running. Anything less than a 22 hopper from 2B and he would have been out easily.
  17. well, they were pretty clear it was temporary and due to injuries to other guys, but... If he can play RT.....he should be moved to LT. Long being able to play LT at 90% of the way he played RG would make an immense difference in this team's future. If Long stays at RG (which I'd be fine with), then next spring you'd be looking at needing to spend the 1st round pick on either a LT, QB, or an edge rusher. All while possibly losing your RB, top WR, a starting CB (Jennings big cap number), and stud TE (who was on the trade block and hasn't been to OTAs).
  18. Yet they are still the 2nd best team on the ice.
  19. This is either going to be a nail biter where we regret several missed opportunities or a complete laugher by the end of the next period.
  20. HOO HOO HOO HOOSIERS! Good pick up if he can stay healthy and still can play. He missed 13 games last year and 10 in 2012. But played in all 16 in 2013, though he didn't play very well IIRC. Of course, he played for the Raiders, so..... I think he's insurance in the nickel spot. Apparently, he was 105th out of 110 CBs according to PFF in 2013.
