  1. Rubi Silva walked. Including today's game, he has walked a total of 1 time this year. Most Milb ABs before his first walk.
  2. That might cost him an NBA career. Yay! They got a guy! Fred Hoiberg helps my team again.
  3. Baez is going to be a really good defensive 3B. I think it plays into his skillset (and build) better than 2b and even SS. He has really quick hands and good, but nowhere near great, range. And I think it will help him not having to think as much on defense. Not that he's stupid or anything, but there's not going to be a lot of "should I charge or wait for the hop?" type decisions to make. If his bat makes it, I have a hard time seeing him being less than say, Aramis Ramirez defensively in his prime, which was very good.
  4. You thought a team starting the season with Montero (who struggled last 2 years), Coghlan (who struggled the 2 years before last year), and a combo of Olt, LaStella, Coghlan, and Herrera at 2b and 3b would be pretty good?
  5. I never thought I'd be saying this sans green font, but thank God Chris Denorfia's coming back soon. so if Denorfia is coming back and Baez seems to be on the way the team will what end up cutting herrera and baxter? Baez, Alcantara and Denorfia take the spots of Herrera, Baxter and Szczur.
  6. Stole? Nah I think we outplayed them the last 45 mins. Not by a ton but enough. Yeah but I don't think the Hawks were better enough to win in regulation after being down 1-0 with 12 minutes left. Even the goals weren't huge rallies with dominant offensive zone play. Never saw that ending coming, but maybe it's just me. I felt oddly confident toward the end of the game despite the 1-0 score. Seeing Tampa all but shut down made me think they were destined to at least tie it. Yeah, I was expecting them to get A goal. 2 in regulation? Never saw that coming. But my point is/was that it's not like the Hawks were peppering the goal with shots and TB was making a ton of saves. Didn't really seem to have a ton of great scoring chances (not that Tampa had very many or even as many as the Hawks). I guess part of it is that both goals were shots that I thought would get stopped.

  8. Stole that game. I'll take it.
  9. Despite not being anywhere near a top 100 prospect?
  10. WTF is Bryant doing today? It seems like he hasn't hit LHP very well.
  11. BTW, this game may feature a dong against Hand.
  12. Black's gonna hit 98 out of the pen.
  13. But the Cubs are better than all those teams despite all your concerns. What can those other teams do that the Cubs can't to take them ahead of the Cubs?
  14. Stop doing that. This is like a full season version of the game thread stuff. I don't think they're terrible or going to disastrously implode or tanking or any of that nonsense; I just think the team is too flawed to make a real run at anything. That makes no sense to me. They are 1/2 game out of the wildcard against a team they swept in a 4 game series. They are only 2 out of the first wildcard spot. And the Cubs have more prospects to deal and money to add than most of the teams they are competing with. Not to mention some struggling bats (OF and Castro) that could/should turn it around and heat up at some point.
  15. Yeah, I agree with that. But if there's a chance he can help this year, you let him try. And you can always move him back to C. Basically, he's catching from April to July, called up in July to play OF. Then catches October to December and again in April.
  16. I feel like in every picture with teammates that Addison Russell is the teenager from the Little Brothers & Sisters program that Rizzo hangs out with to "give back". But that works for me.
  17. Not the first time I've tried to jump on the bandwagon in the playoffs (in like a "maybe if I get sucked in at its best, I can actually learn to like this" type of way). Last year I watched most of the Kings series. Then they lost game 7 and I forgot about hockey again. It's not the Hawks awesomeness I have to learn to like. It's hockey. I find it hard to watch because of the frenetic pace coupled with the low scoring. I can handle low scoring low pace games and high scoring high pace (ala basketball). With hockey I have no idea when something good is going to happen (a goal) until it happens, which means you have to have your focus on the game at all times if you want to see the scoring. That's how it is for me, at least. I don't know hockey like I know baseball and football because I never played it competitively. It has taken time but eventually you get to the point where you see when a good thing is about to happen before it does. It's pretty amazing how fast it has to happen and you will appreciate that speed and pace. It's when Patrick Kane has the puck in the offensive zone.
  18. Game 7 OT goal away from 4 Cups in 6 years.
  19. Best 2 games of the year!
  20. Feel like for years the strategy to beat the Hawks has been to try to wear them down with hits. But teams get more concerned about that than actually playing smart hockey.
  21. That was sick. So glad he's on my team.
