  1. Related to the old Saints RB with the same name?
  2. Now there's rightfully only 1 Assembly Hall.
  3. I did a "what I woulda done" mock too. And a couple picks match yours. 1. Floyd 2. Arthur Brown 4. Kenny Stills 5. Quessenberry 6. Jordan Poyer 7. Michael Ford, rb LSU who the Bears did sign as a udfa
  4. I agree. We've seen the last 2 years what the same offense that Cutler ran looks like when someone else is running it. I'd rather the back up be completely different and the Bears can gimmick their way to a win or 2 if necessary against a team that has no tape to gameplan off of.
  5. They probably don't, so long as Greene can take on TE's, RB's and in some cases Guards. That's my reasoning for saying he may be stuck on the weakside. I never said anything remotely close to that you need slow guys at SLB. But Greene doesn't have a history of taking on blocks. Whereas Bostic does. I think Bostic can play all 3 lb spots but not Greene due to his inability to get thru traffic ss well. Now that may not be that big of a deal since the league is so pass happy, but its still something some teams value and Lovie definitely did.
  6. are you actually explaining the differences between the different types of 4-3 linebackers to me? i'm sorry, but that's not exactly esoteric knowledge one would have to learn by reading your steelers blog. You said you didn't understand in your original post. And it's obvious that you feel that the OLB positions are interchangeable based on your comments. And that's just not true, especially in the scheme the Bears have run for almost the last decade. Derrick Brooks and Lance Briggs wouldn't be/have been great players on the strong side. A slow footed LB like Hillenmeyer would struggle on the weak side. If you don't know that and want to take your typical bitch ass shots at me, have it. But you are wrong.
  7. If he doesn't play at all, he will still have averaged 30 minutes played in games 4 and 5.
  8. The only guy I don't see contributing at all would be Mills. He should show enough to make the roster, may or may not be active on gameday, but that's fine considering the depth the Bears have amassed. I think Washington could contribute quite a bit actually. He's raw, but the one thing he can do is rush the passer. Peppers, Wootton and McClellin will obviously get the majority of the reps, but the 4th DE can get on the field as much as 30-35% of the snaps with the ability to force himself on the field more if he's effective. One of the LBs will start, I'm guessing Bostic easily. He looks to be more versatile and obviously was picked higher. I think he'll start at MLB, with Williams at SLB because of his experience and ability there. I can see James Anderson getting cut, and if the Bears think Greene can do it, he'd be next in line for SLB snaps. Not sure if Long will start. He will get every opportunity to do so, but if his competition is Slauson/Carimi, I wouldn't count out either of those guys. Sounds like he's going to compete at OG exclusively to start. I can see him winning the LG job, with Slauson going to RG, and Carimi as the first man off the bench.
  9. Yeah. Will and Sam are completely different positions. Well, not completely, but the Sam has to take on blockers more, has more keys such as TE, FB, pulling OG, etc. The Will LB in the Bears system is more of a run and chase guy. Typically has to deal with very few blockers in his way and able to just take off toward the ball carrier in the run game. I think that's more Greene's game, weaving thru traffic to make plays instead of taking the traffic head on.
  10. It's hard for me to give it a solid B, because of the reach in the first round. It was a good 20-30 place reach. I'd give the Long pick a C to C- alone, and I give it the most weight since it is the most important. I wouldn't give any picks an A other than the 6th and 7th which get the least weight. Bostic's probably a B+ to B for me. And I really didn't like the double up at LB, so even though I love Greene, I can only give that pick a C. I don't see the issue with doubling on LB. All 3 starting linebackers will be at least 30 during the coming season and two of them will be free agents after the season. Updated my blog. But my issue with the 2nd LB pick (Greene), is that I don't know if he can play SLB effectively. He looks like he may only be a WLB only, which is Briggs position. Which means, if that's the case, he's going to be watching the defense from the sidelines most of the year. I think the 4th was reasonably the last round to select a player that could contribute in 2013 (since the 1st rounder may not). A reserve CB, DT, DE (hadn't picked Washington yet) or even a RB (Franklin was on the board still) would be more likely to contribute than a LB that's not starting.
  11. Good list. That top 5 is as close to being written in stone as it possibly could be this early. I probably would put Boyd in the same place. I think I like ASJ as a top 15 player.
  12. Michael Ford RB from Lsu. Love him. Highly recruited out of HS and average about 6 ypc. Shared the backfield with about 9 other 5 star guys and left school early. I think he's a couple years away from being a legit #2 RB.
  13. Undrafted FA signings are starting to come out in a hurry. Notables: Da'Rick Rogers to Buffalo. Matt Scott and Jordan Rodgers to Jacksonville. Tony Jefferson to Atlanta. Robert Lester- Carolina Kevin Reddick and Chase Thomas to New Orleans Brad Wing to Philly British Shotputter Lawrence Okoye to the Niners Bears got WR Josh Lenz, Iowa St DT Brent Russell, Georgia Southern Guys the Bears had interest in or had visit: Stephen Miller, RB Appalachian St to Detroit Brandon Kaufman, Eastern Washington WR to Buffalo Keith Pough, LB Howard to Buffalo
  14. So did 85% of the internet. I wasn't a huge Swope fan, but acknowledged he would probably be a solid contributor. I don't think he's anywhere near 4.34 (or whatever he ran) fast. I never thought the Bears were looking for a slot WR as much as they were looking for a guy that could really stretch the field. If that guy also could play in the slot, more power to him. Swope ran the 40 in a time of a field stretcher, but that's not his calling as a player.

  16. Is it Iman Shumpert for the Knicks that tore his ACL the same week as Rose? He's been playing since February at least.
  17. Hey, Raisin....what's with your boy Aaron Hester? I really liked him when I saw him play. Big CBs are all the rage, and he's 6-2, and I think he has good enough movement skills to stay at CB, especially in a base Cover 2 scheme. If I was grading, I would have had him in the 4th- 5th round range. Never really got much love all draft season. What's his story? Am I off base in my evaluation of him?
  18. I thought I switched over to the MLB draft. No way he was draftable as a QB, WR, anything
  19. Except that doesn't apply to anyone other than Kyle Long in this draft. Every other pick has started at least 25 games for his college team. Yeah, only the measly first rounder And the guy who was kicked off this season and the guy last year who missed the entire season. Are we starting this again? Did u say "guys who haven't played much college football" or did you say "guys who haven't played much college football or missed time recently".....which FYI, Wilson missed 3 games. Started every other game from the day he stepped on campus, IIRC. This is a [expletive] 7th round pick. If he even makes the team, it's a great pick. If he doesn't it's like 98% of the other final round picks in the history of the NFL draft.
  20. Except that doesn't apply to anyone other than Kyle Long in this draft. Every other pick has started at least 25 games for his college team.
  21. Marquess Wilson is a solid pick. Thought he would run faster than he did, but he's a big guy that can really move. Looked like a 2nd day pick at times. Got kicked off the Washington st. team and claimed abuse by the coaching staff. If his head is on right, could help out. By "big" I mean tall. He's skinny as [expletive].
  22. Nice. A little surprising, but I know he likes Long (buddies with Howie). To me, this looks like a draft that could really pay dividends in 2014. Long may get some spot duty and short yardage TE stuff. Bostic should start. Greene, I can't see starting. Obviously, no chance Mills starts but he's a good looking prospect. Washington is a wildcard though, and could really help out in pass rush as a rookie and eventually help ease the loss of Peppers. There's a lot of potential there, and he should have no problem bulking up to 275 ish. Great frame, super long arms.
  23. Rogers has first round physical talent. You have to wonder just how bad the character concerns are with this dude that nobody will touch him this late. He got kicked out of a school that hired lane kiffin. Character is pretty bad.
