  1. Warford, Moore and Logan are 3 of my favorite picks in succession. Sio can do a little everything. Dion Jordan without freakish size.
  2. I still like Poyer and Wreh-Wilson quite a bit at CB. Big fan of Poyer. Not so much for Wreh-Wilson. A guy I really like is Steve Williams out of CAL. 5-9, but one of the fastest guys at the combine. Better pro than college player, IMO. Maybe more of a 5th rounder. Brandon McGee and Hawthorne are guys I like too. I like Gratz more than Wreh-Wilson also, FWIW.
  3. Wanted Brown but he's definitely an OLB who should be able to play inside. Bostic is the opposite.
  4. They think he's Harvin. Profile is similar. Different body types, but yeah. Again, even though Harvin was a college RB, he was still more prepared to be an NFL WR than Patterson is. I think perfect world, Patterson runs some deep routes, WR screens, reverses, quick slants, returns kicks, to get the ball in his hands, as he gives the defense another thing to worry about in addition to what is hopefully a good 1 and 2 WR, a good receiving TE and RB. Versatile 5th option to start, and hopefully develop into a #2 would be ideal for Patterson. Thrown into the fire as one of your team's 2-3 best receiving options by far.....not ideal for his development.
  5. Eh, I like Patterson. Go back and forth on him. He's the most talented WR in this class, probably, but he's also so far away from hitting his ceiling, or even being more than a gimmick WR for that matter. If I was drafting a WR, I'd rather pick him to a team with 2 good WRs. He can be a versatile #3, play inside, outside, slot, backfield maybe. But for the Vikings he's going to be the #2. He is working with a good one in Jennings, but he's nowhere near as polished as Julio Jones who he is getting compared to. Without a decent QB to throw to him, I can't see this going particularly well for the Vikings. Just think it's the wrong situation.
  6. Maybe the 3rd rounder comment was stupid, but I don't disagree that saying the Bears should be applauded for making a [expletive] pick is silly. Sorry that was taken the wrong way. I thought I was being clear that I meant at least it was a reach on OL. That is what I meant. If you re-read my post, it's pretty clear I didn't like the pick at that point. Yeah, I got the gist of it. I'm just pissed and don't want to hear any positivity toward emery/the bears right now. That's fine. I actually changed it from a paraphrase of, "you guys wanted OL, you got that [expletive] now!"

  8. The only BPA picks so far (IMO) have been Carolina, both Minnesota picks, and Green Bay.
  9. Bears trade Kyle Long to the Cubs for Jeff Samardzija.
  10. Define continually. So you can start another argument you're going to change or add a caveat to? He's a 3rd rounder!- Well even the guy that likes him says he's a 2nd- Well he's only that high because of the run on OL. You're applauding the pick!- Well u can't define continually.
  11. that doesn't make the pick any less of a reach. value now is value now, regardless of what happens later on. by reaching like that, you squander value. hell, they could've done the [expletive] atlanta trade and probably would've been able to draft long at 30 If Kyle Long turns out to be the best player in this draft, it still will be a case of... "coulda had Kyle Long AND another good player. Of course, we don't know that a trade down was even an option. Maybe nobody offered. But for all my arguing in this thread. I 100% agree with the sentiment that for a team that supposedly positioned themselves to take BPA.....they didn't come close to taking the best player on the board.
  12. Dude, the point is it's time to call a spade a spade on this kind of [expletive] pick. That's a terrible pick at that point in the draft, and yes you can talk about good things the kid might do, or talk about how he might actually pan out. It's still a bad pick, and I guess I'm expecting you of all people to understand that and not try to rationalize it. And I said that. This whole conversation stems from me saying, "gotta applaud him at least addressing the worst area on the team for the last 4 years". At least he didn't reach for a safety. I guess that's rationalizing it, but I have continually said it's a bad pick and a reach. What more do you want?
  13. SECOND ROUND For the guy hyping him. "I was wrong" is shorter to type. How is he wrong? A guy who is high on him says he wants him in the second. That doesn't exactly necessarily represent the consensus or reality. But there is close to a consensus out there on the web. Nobody had him as a 3rd round pick, which is what Goony was wrong about. He can add his caveats like, "it's only because the run on OL" but he's still not right calling him a 3rd round pick.
  14. SECOND ROUND For the guy hyping him. "I was wrong" is shorter to type. The guy who applauds this pick has no business talking about being wrong. If you don't understand the concept of value that's on you, not me. And the guy that can't read has no business talking about the concept of anything. I said.....it was a reach. It was a bad pick. Yes, I'm applauding the pick as we speak.
  15. [expletive]. Nice picks for Vikings. Maybe best CB and best DT in the 20s.
  16. SECOND ROUND For the guy hyping him. "I was wrong" is shorter to type.
  17. Yeah, I would have too. Especially with that 6th or whatever thrown in. I think the Bears probably wanted something mid-3rd. A lot of the guys they have shown interest in would been gone at 92, I think (Swope, LB, DT, Wheaton). But that extra pick could have allowed the Bears to trade up in the 3rd with their 4th and one of the 6ths or maybe just the 5th.
  18. Gotta applaud them? Are you kidding? A run on oline and the bears piss their pants taking a 3rd rounder with so many better players on the board. You're one of the main ones crying for OL help on here. He gets one and you aren't happy still? Definitely a reach. But my point is, at least it wasn't a reach for a college CB moving to S who missed his entire senior year. At least it wasn't a tweener FB/TE. It's not a good pick, but it addresses the franchises biggest need since trading for Jay Cutler. He got one that should not have been drafted in the first round. It's a need, but that's why you don't ignore it in 2012. It doesn't justify an awful first round pick. You sign a starting LT and OG specifically so you don't have to do something stupid like draft this guy in the first. I agree. And I said it was a reach and a bad pick. Also, funny that last year I wanted Nick Perry, only to watch him go a few picks later to GB. This year, Floyd....and he goes to the Vikings.
  19. 04/25/13 - 2013 NFL DRAFT: SIX GUYS WHO MAY SNEAK INTO THE FIRST ROUND: 4. Kyle Long, OG/OT Oregon: Many have claimed his best position in pro football is guard and it may very well be true. But I had an offensive line coach tell me he really likes Long as a right tackle and was impressed with how much the former Ducks player understood about the position after just five major college starts. If that o-line coach has any say in the draft he wants Long in the second round. - Pat Kirwan, CBSSports.com

  21. Long would not have made it to 50. He was the 2nd best OL on the board to Warford. Really want to see what ATL gave up for 22 and hear a reason for why the Bears didn't accept the same for 20.
  22. I like Long. Would like him a lot more if he were 22, and not 24. Would've have liked him a lot more later in the draft, though I'm guessing nobody offered enough. I actually like him at LT, but he could be a nice LG too. I would have bet a lot of money that the Bears would NOT take OL in the first. So, gotta applaud them for getting help where they've needed it most for years. I would have actually bet they wouldn't take OL at all. A lot of bodies on the line now. May the best 5 win.
  23. That's the exact trade I wanted the Bears to pull with the Niners. Damnit. And they could have waited til 20 to get Reid. Cincy was the threat to take him.
  24. Nobody is letting the chips fall in this draft. Everyone is going to get their guy. Miami traded up for Jordan, could have waited a little bit ended up with Mingo/Ansah and given up less (though they didn't give up a ton either way). Buffalo could have continued to move to get their QB. Obviously they liked Manuel most, but they also liked Barkley and Nassib, could have waited for one to go off the board.
  25. Wasn't getting out of this round, either way.
