  1. Yeah that's still a really good team. McGary will be possible POTY.
  2. Fyi, I posted on my blog some draft insight I've established.
  3. Also of note, the Bears did not go to UNCs pro day. Last year the bears didn't draft anyone who they did not either invite for a workout or go to their pro day. That shows no interest in Cooper....and there's not much to separate him and Warmack so that tells me they aren't taking OG 1st at all.
  4. I'd be surprised if the Bears draft OL early. I think they are ok with their projected starters. If u draft OG you are benching one of Carimi, Webb or Slauson. If u draft OT again its Webb or Carimi. I think they like Brown and Scott as backups. So atmost u are looking at a backup for at least this year or a C. And those can be had later....and there have been no signs of them getting rid of Garza.
  5. Marcus Smart announced he's returning to school. Dumb, I don't care how much you love college he's guaranteed to go top 5 and probably top 3, you don't pass up that money. Especially since next years draft is looking like it could be really strong and he can really only fall I don't know a whole lot about Smart and if that is the case then he probably should turn pro. But I don't know if I'd label it as "dumb" either. I can totally respect kids who want to go to 2+ years of school. The last prospect who deterred the NBA for 4 years turned into one of the best players of all time. Psycho T?
  6. Had 3 throwing errors in a game earlier this year. Had one more the next time he played there too and don't think he has been back since.
  7. Illness game is overrated. I thought the Portland game in the Finals where Jordan hit like 6 threes in the 1st half and couldn't believe it himself was the most memorable of the championship series-es. He also had 11 assists that game and 35 points in the 1st half is still a Finals record. 63 vs. the Celtics was pretty memorable because I was watching as a kid about 5 miles from the Chicago Stadium and that was my last summer before moving to Indiana.
  8. Is Soler even back in Daytona?
  9. Hester's house in Chicago area is for sale.
  10. I kinda like Blue's game. I see him as a late 1st round talent. If not now then after next year.
  11. Houston selects Jordan Reed, TE Florida.
  12. Wasn't it last year too that the west had 1 dominant team, a couple really bad teams, and the rest .500 ish?
  13. Which probably means Crean isn't done recruiting 13' right? Nope. He's still recruiting Jaren Sina (who decomitted from Northwestern). He would likely help . . . and then in a couple years probably be in a similar position to Abell (fringe-ish rotation player, possible transfer). That or Crean is one step closer to his dream roster of one point guard, one center, and eleven wings (OK, OK, fifteen wings). I must be missing something. I thought Abell was the top candidate to start at the 2 guard next year and at very least would have played much more than he did this year. Why is he really leaving? I think he might have started early in the season, but I doubt for very long. He's a solid player, but it would have been a surprise, to me, if he held off the younger, more talented players all year. He was, however, going to be heavily in the rotation as the second ball-handler and third-guard. He played 12.5 minutes per game last year and that number would have at least gone up to sixteen, probably more like twenty. His departure is a blow, but if he really wanted to start, that was not going to happen at IU. As for the starting lineup, it may be a bit awkward because the best five players are not going to easily fit into the starting five positions--both because of ball-handling and interior play. As it stands right now, the best four players on the team are Ferrell-Sheehey-Vonleh-Hollowell (edit: not in order). Crean will have to decide if he plays Sheehey at shooting guard (I think more likely than not, as of now), and/or if he starts Perea/Fischer at center because you need a center, or just starts a small, athletic team (inserting whichever other freshman, Robinson or Williams, is more ready to play). I could also see a situation where Crean is a slave to positions and doesn't have Hollowell start, only to sub him in almost immediately and play most the game anyway (this is something you see with many coaches, inexplicably). My thinking as well. I'm going to guess Robinson starts at the 2. Vonleh and Hollowell start. Yogi is obvious. The only question is if Sheehey wants to start and they go small or if Sheehey stays 6th man and they start Perea.....I like the latter with Hollowell at the 3. Williams is going to have a shot to start too.
  14. U may be in first place (in the weak division) but I lead in points and my team is a juggernaut.
  15. Which probably means Crean isn't done recruiting 13' right? Nope. He's still recruiting Jaren Sina (who decomitted from Northwestern). He would likely help . . . and then in a couple years probably be in a similar position to Abell (fringe-ish rotation player, possible transfer). I thought Abell was the top candidate to start at the 2 guard next year and at very least would have played much more than he did this year. Why is he really leaving? He wouldn't be starting I don't think. My guess is Stanford Robinson would be either way. I'm guessing pt would have been similar next year. Which he got in every game and got acceptable minutes for his talent level.
  16. Baez may start to heat up now. Starting to put the ball in play the last 3-4 games. A couple outs to the opposite field. Couple line drive outs. I'm hoping a big week is coming.
  17. The Houston Texans select Jordan Mills, OT, Louisiana Tech,
  18. Candelario has walked 7 times in his last 3 games. 7 times in 14 plate appearances. If he really can stick at 3rd and start adding the power he projects to have, he may be the Cubs most "can't miss" prospect. He's not even 19 1/2 yet and hitters that young who exhibit that type of patience, power, and ability to play a premier position in a full season league, usually are in pretty good shape for ML success in the future.
  19. Most definitely. He was really good this year, but slowed by injuries. He never really showed the athleticism level he possesses; offensively he was mainly a big shooter. He's much more diverse than that. I was disappointed Harris didn't show more explosiveness this year. Didn't realize he had injury issues. They'll be #1 if everyone stays.
  20. Chargers select CB Logan Ryan, Rutgers
  21. Nice stretch of really good picks. Last 9 have been spot on.
  22. Baez leadoff triple in the 7th, Soler knocked him in with a single. Soler has 3 BBs to 2 Ks so far.
  23. Don't know any details but its interesting that Soler failed to score on a single from 2nd nor on a double from 1st in today's game. He's supposedly is pretty fast.
  24. So who is not making the plays? Raisin has been suggesting that Candelario is looking much better at 3B and is showing some good range. Toonster has been touting Marco as a serious big-league SS defensive talent. Amaya isn't Ryne Sandberg, but I've heard the Cubs like his defense. Are these guys much worse than we've been led to believe? Or are Vogelbach and the outfielders at fault? Or is it just coincidence, good fielders miss plays sometimes, especially when they're 19 or 20? IN any event, good to hear positive feedback on Johnson. They're young. They are going to lose focus/miss plays they should make and will make eventually. Not a big deal. You can see it with Castro still in the majors.
