  1. Why would Davidson call a timeout there?
  2. Weren't there character questions involving arrests in college? Sure was. Forgot about that.
  3. Fwiw, Rodriguez comes off as really ghetto on Twitter. Arrest doesn't surprise me.
  4. I don't buy this theory of "changing identity" at all. Brian Urlacher has nothing to do with the quality of the offense. His presence wouldn't have prevented them from getting better and his absence won't facilitate that improvement. No but theoretically this would be seen as a defense first team with the same highly paid stars on the defensive side of the ball. I think this move shows people that the Bears aren't in the past anymore and will move forward with an offensive identity. Hiring Trestman was a start but keeping status quo on D would have been counter productive to changing the organizations culture for whatever that's worth.
  5. The way I see it: It's very sad to see Urlacher go, especially when it wasn't on his own terms. I think he had a lot to prove and he would have been as healthy as he has been in 2 years had he suited up for the Bears this year. Ray Lewis had a very similar situation with the Ravens and it looked like he had lost a step and was headed out of the league. He came back and gave the Ravens 3-4 more seasons. Not at the same level as before, but still above average on the field and played a huge leadership/inspirational role. I feel bad for guys like Briggs and Tillman who have never played on an NFL team without Urlacher. But they'll get over it. Just like they got over Alex Brown. Just like they'll get over Lovie. That being said, this move probably won't sit well with most of the fanbase. It won't sit well with most of the defensive players. But it's 100% the right football move. The Bears need to change their identity as a franchise. The Monsters of the Midway stuff is over. The Bears need to change the culture from a defense first team to a team with an offense that needs to be feared. As long as Urlacher was here, it was going to be hard to change the team's identity. Losing Urlacher allows the Bears to take a big step in putting a younger defense on the field. The Bears started last season with 5 starters over 30. 2 of them will now be gone if Idonije doesn't come back. Even if he does, he won't start. And potentially 2 more will be gone next season with Peppers' contract and Tillman being a FA. This also puts extra pressure on Emery to not miss early in the draft for a while. The offense is pretty young. And if you can build a solid young defense around guys like Melton, McClellin and whoever you draft at LB this year, the team won't have to sign big contract FAs to put themselves in this type of salary cap bind.
  6. Brian Urlacher, Ed Reed, Wes Welker, and Steven Jackson will all be playing for new teams next year.
  7. He wanted 5.5 which is what Ray Lewis got this year.
  8. Bears offered 1 year deal to Captain Munnerlyn from Carolina. Panthers just signed DJ Moore so apparently the Bears are going after their version of DJ Moore.
  9. "@seankjensen: Signing of Turk McBride doesn't diminish chance of Israel Idonije returning to the #Bears"
  10. "@seankjensen: Signing of Turk McBride doesn't diminish chance of Israel Idonije returning to the #Bears"
  11. Doesn't matter if Shea ever starts if he is a high volume sack artist. Coming off the bench only for passing downs means he still plays at least half the defensive snaps. If he can get u 10 sacks a year, its a solid pick.
  12. Gotta love a first round NIT court storming! I should have gone to this damn game. I work about 2 minutes from the Robert Morris campus.
  13. I'm starting to think a lot of this is well crafted on Crean's part. Bringing back the program but also bringing back the edge that the Hoosiers had on the sidelines with Bob Knight in their heyday. I'm pretty sure he uses that approach in recruiting too. Seems like fans and opposing coaches hate him a lot more that he has a good team and seems like that's what he I'd going for.
  14. IU, Duke, Florida and Gonzaga in Final 4. IU over Duke for the title. Only real upset I had was Ohio St losing in the first round. Other than that most high seeds did very well in my bracket.
  15. Ill take any of the Steelers, Chargers or Cards
  16. Belichick probably isn't in it because he isn't part of the NFL Coaches Association. I don't know if Payton isn't a member either or not, but I know Belichick isn't for sure. That's why it always says "NE Coach" in the Madden video games instead of Belichick's name. Payton is not either.
  17. Is he a Kentucky recruit or something? No duh. I said 2 year deal. Its Ohio St.
  18. I love that Galifinakas went to NC State. Also love that Hefner love that Hef got a double major degree in 2.5 years at Illinois as much as u guys tease about oladipo.
  19. Shanahan looks like he's trying to hold in a fart and/or [expletive] and Andy Reid would be a guy that wears Hawaiian shirts. Shwartz looks like he did fart and Fisher just got a whiff of it. Coughlin is wondering how long this [expletive] is going to take. And John Harbaugh has the "I got a ring mother [expletive] look on his face". Tomlin is saying, "get me away from all these damn white people"
  20. Chris Mortensen (@mortreport) tweeted at 5:14 PM on Mon, Mar 18, 2013: Teams interested in Matt Hasselbeck: AZ, Buff, Chi, Cin, Cleve, Indy, NO, NYG, SF & Tampa, Also as I posted in the college basketball thread (for some odd reason) that Rey Maluaga got 2 Years, 6.5mil to stay with the Bengals. Urlacher should expect similar to maybe a little more.
  21. Maluaga just got 2 years 6.5mil. That's probably about what Urlacher can expect. Maybe a touch more.
  22. They will probably be able to save over 1mil going from Spaeth to a guy like Maneri. Of course I don't see the point as Bennett can block and he was on the field 91% Of the plays for NYG.
  23. The best bets are Mich St, Michigan, Ohio St and IU. I have talked trash about the Buckeyes all year, so I couldn't pick them. I want to pick IU, but I just don't know with them. Michigan St. has the #1 team in its bracket and Michigan has to potentially get thru Kansas and either Florida or Georgetown.
  24. My in-season Final 4 was Louisville, Florida, Michigan and probably IU. After filling out my brackets, I have Louisville, Florida, Miami and New Mexico.
