  1. Weak call but we'll take it!!!!
  2. Wings touched the pick after it crossed the blue line first?
  3. This newfound power play success is nice to say the least.
  4. Random thought. I feel like the ball was kind of dropped on the offensive side of things this offseason. Love what they did with the pitching, even before the season. Thought the bullpen would be much better than it has been. But the offense was destined to struggle with the personnel on this team. I thought this offseason was a great chance to change the culture on the offensive side of the ball. The Cubs knew they had Castro, Rizzo, and Castillo set in stone. 2 of which probably wouldn't get on base enough unless they hit well over .300. Rizzo also in his first full season and some inconsistencies could have been expected. AT some point, it became clear that Soriano would be on the roster and again he's a player that couldn't reasonably expected to get on base at a high level. So, I thought the focus should have been to fill the rest of the roster with some guys that can get on base so the Cubs wouldn't be last in baseball in OBP. Valbuena and Dejesus have been fine getting on base. But the Cubs really missed a chance to go after some OBP in the corner OF or in the IF. Guys like Eric Chavez or Youkilis would have been risky, but no more so than Ian Stewart was at 3B (moving on from Barney and moving Valbuena to 2B in this scenario). Guys like Berkman (if he can even play OF) or Swisher would have been expensive for the OF, but would have helped this team's OBP immensely. Kelly Johnson and Stephen Drew were also viable IF options. Even the rumored Bourn signing would have been a step in the right direction for this team's biggest weakness. I just feel like for a FO that preaches a patient approach, they surely didn't do the personnel any favors by putting together a team full of hackers. And with as many close games as this team has lost, I'd think the record would look much better with a couple more guys that can get on base. The opportunities were there to make the necessary upgrades.
  5. Fwiw, I had Alcantara as the #11 prospect in my personal rankings this winter. Hes firmly in my top 10 now, maybe as high as 7th.
  6. The Atlanta game was suspended. So it probably took away the points from Friday and added them all to Saturday.
  7. A lot of places have him going right before 20, but what about Allen Crabbe from CAL? He's a good looking player. Add him and my list is probably exactly the same as yours.
  8. I meant in the sense that there are a top of guys in the 6'4"- 6'7" range that can run, jump and shoot. Not a ton of really good 2Gs in the league, but it's still a dime-a-dozen position. But for fun: Kobe, Wade, and Harden are really good. Ginobili, Joe Johnson, Mayo, Jamal Crawford, and Iguodala are a pretty good second tier. Guys like Klay Thompson, Bradley Beal, Lance Stephenson, Eric Gordon are a step away from the conversation. JR Smith and Demar Derozan also put up 18ppg this year at 2G. And guys like Jimmy Butler and Paul George are players who started games at SG this year.
  9. Overlooked question, but I think he'd be one of my ideal picks for the Bulls. He's a really tough guy to figure out sometimes, but I think he'd be a good fit. Lot of upside. NBA bloodlines. Can shoot the ball, although can be streaky. Can create his own shot, though doesn't always look to do so. Good athleticism. Good, not great finisher. Good length. Has the ability to really develop as a defender, Thibs as a coach would only escalate that ability. A team with Hardaway Jr, Butler and Deng would be the best group of defensive wings in the league. It would also open up the possibility of trading Deng. I think 2-guard is the way to go in this draft for the Bulls. BPA is nice and all, and the Bulls are good enough to do that and still be a pretty good team. But at some point, the Bulls have to find someone next to DRose in the backcourt. While the revolving door of Hamilton, Korver, Brewer, Belinelli, Bogans, etc. has played about as well as can be expected, it would be really nice if the Bulls could find someone (at perhaps the easiest position to find someone) to completely take over the position and be a piece of the foundation of this team.
  10. Hmm. Of those guys, Olajuwon, Duncan, Dirk, and Gasol are under 7'1" at least. Not sure on Parrish.
  11. Kane County in a shootout. And thankfully, they don't have much in the way of prospects nobody cares about, who are putting up all the numbers. Almora 2-4 with another double. Jeimer with 4 RBIs. Unfortunately, Maples got lit up though and was wild.
  12. I am by no means a die-hard hockey fan. But I can't handle this. This has been a magical season that I don't want to see come to an end by a team that barely made it in the playoffs, barely won a game 7 in the first round, and is the Blackhawks biggest historic rival. Feel like the "only my teams" thing is very appropriate right now. Haven't felt like this since the 2008 MLB playoffs when the Cubs got swept by the Dodgers in the 1st round.
  13. Baez with error #20 tonight. On pace for 65.
  14. did you lose last week before a bunch of points got added back? Yeah.
  15. Can Strasburgs points for last week not count towards his season total also? Kidding. Sounds fair. I fucked up. I shouldn't get a win for last week. But we all know I have the best team in the league snd that's all that matters. Points scenario won't come into play.
  16. I'd take Baez turning into an Adam Jones.
  17. The parallel wasn't about ability just maturity level. That's why I said I hated to do that because someone would make that connection. And Baez's numbers aren't going to be far off from Cabrera's even if he stays at a similar pace. And the difference in walks would be made up by having more power. And yes I realize I just made the comparison that I didn't want to make. Lol.
  18. For all the stuff about Baez's approach....I've always felt like he could walk more if he wanted and could put the ball in play more if he stopped trying to kill every pitch he swung at. That's not to say he's ever going to have a great walk rate or not strike out a decent amount, but I've always thought his numbers were exaggerated maybe in all directions because of his lack of maturity at the plate. He probably hits balls out that he has no business hitting. Misses some balls he should probably put in play. But from what I have read and seen, with his level of talent and general attitude, there could be something to that. The question for me has always been can he grow up as a hitter when he needs to. I hate to make this comparison, but Miguel Cabrera had similar issues when he came to the majors.
  19. Hahaha Memphis graduate. Like that's a real thing.
  20. I scored 64 points on Monday that need added to my score.
