  1. Wasn't Blake Parker promoted also?
  2. So next year we should have another window to go way over allotment. Exactly what I was thinking. The only concern would be that the draft would come in during the penalty period for the Cubs. They could then be denied a first round pick in the draft because of the penalty. True. But seems like something that should be laid out before this happens.

  4. I heard he ate the shark and will miss a week due to explosive diarrhea.
  5. Law said its no one of consequence, to change the balance of the deal. Cafardo mentioned Raul Alcantara as a possibility. (TJS rehab currently, but their 3rd ranked prospect) This can be taken 2 ways, I guess. Oak lands system is awful, maybe Law doesn't think anyone in their system is a player of consequence. Or, Cafardo could just be searching for names and threw him out as a possibility. Even if it IS Alcantara, it doesn't change the balance of the deal for me either. But I'll still guess its not him and some guy that's not going to be considered for a spot in our top 30. Thanks. I remembered that Neil Ramirez was mentioned as the likely PTBNL almost simultaneous with the Garza deal. On a slow day I wanted some news. Believe it was also first reported then that the PTBNL would be insignificant.
  6. So, he doesn't play in the last 5 minutes on D? Problem solved.
  7. There's plenty of data supporting Tucker is a clown (figuratively speaking). This isn't his first unsuccessful DC job.
  8. Chalmers Wade Deng Bosh McRoberts Granger Nappier Etc. Racist
  9. He is a clown. But he's less of one when he has a full slate of healthy players. I think there's a good chance the DT play could be similar to last year. The LB play probably isn't going to be any better either, as DJ will get hurt again, Bostic should improve some, but not enough. And Shea has never played the position. Safety maybe a little better tackling with Mundy vs. Wright, but I doubt FS is going to be any better with Conte or a mid-round rookie starting. But I think improving on Wootton with Houston and getting more consistency from Allen than they did from Peppers, and being better at CB (whether healthy Tillman or better w/Fuller at nickel) will be enough to make the team a non-disaster defensively. And oddly, as much as the offense scored last year, they never really got up early on teams to make them stop running, other than Dallas. So, at some point the offense improving is going to make the defense better by default, because teams are going to be 1-dimensional. I'm just looking for a defense that can be in the high 20s. 22nd ranked is the goal I have set for the D this year. Not lofty at all.
  10. I think it could be good enough, but it's not that dissimiliar from the teams we've seen not win in recent years. Rose playing anywhere near 82 games would help immensely, but I would have liked to seen just a different look. I would have liked to see a better backup PG. And definitely needed 1 more shot creator. The Bulls could win with a Spurs like approach, as they now have enough passing, shooting, and versatility, but they don't have that Ginobili or Leonard who can create a shot along with the PG. I don't know how feasible it would have been, but I would have given Hinrich's money to Augustin, since that's all it took. And I would have cleared room with Dunleavy, Randolph, and Butler if I had to and gone after a shooter, who could create. I'd had even taken Paul Pierce on the deal he got, and those moves would have created enough space for that. Rose/DJ Pierce/Snell McDermott/Mirotic Gasol/Gibson Noah/Vet Min
  11. Mike Wallace has a $17.25m cap hit this season. After that...I don't know. Kinda all that matters. Brian Hartline makes around 5Mil also. But yeah that chart has no correlation between WR talent/production and money spent on the position.
  12. He's had less than 400 PAs above the Arizona League. Even Kris Bryant had over 400 before reaching Iowa. Soler also had a few years of something resembling pro-ball under his belt when he came. and then took two years off before playing again. I love Soler as much as anyone, he's probably the most complete hitting prospect we have, but I'd let him stay in Tennessee for more than 14 games.... You say 14 games. I say hes been on the AA roster for 3 months.
  13. I thOught DJ would get a deal similar to Pierce 2/10-11million.
  14. Like this team. Still not good enough to win a championship.
  15. Soler makes everyone look like bat boys. [expletive] huge!
  16. Soler hitting .298 on XBH per AB.
  17. Bryant can't hit good pitching.
  18. Swung at ball 4 twice. Don't blame him.
  19. Pretty bad play by Bryant at 3B. Didn't charge and took too long to unload the ball.
  20. Surprised nobody had posted these.
  21. 15 WAR pace, then. Nice. This said 40.
  22. Ariza signed with Houston. 4/$32M.
  23. Black topped out at 95 mph tonight. With all due respect to Hendricks, Black may be the first of the pitching prospects to stick in the majors. I still think he's a starter. And I think he could be at the back end of the rotation by this time next year. He'll reach the majors before Edwards and Johnson. Really shooting up my rankings if he can keep his control under control.
