  1. While I get the sentiment, there are definitely lots of people who really do hate him. And they are terrible human beings. I have talked to some people on FB who still pine for "dat McGowen" who left for Tampa Hehe. Let's see, the 3 great failures of Chicago Bears fans: 1) Valuation of personality traits over football traits. 2) Thinking Bears history should be carried forward forever. Because "Bears football" is a trademark, or something I guess. 3) Talking with other Bears fans who think this way, which allows #1 and #2 to proliferate. Don't do it, man. Run the ball and play great defense. This is the Black-N-Blue division, damnit!
  2. Yeah, this is what I was saying a few posts up. I mean I guess it's possible they were purposely cheap in an effort to make an "all homegrown" team. But I don't really think that is what they preferred. It certainly seems like their hands were tied in that regard. There's no way this was voluntary.
  3. How is that OPS against possible with 5 HRs?
  4. ahahahhaha the pitcher laughs as javy rounds the bases "Haha I just gave up a home run to an all time great. I can't wait to tell my grandkids someday" I was thinking more like, "Haha. I just tired out that lazy bastard who may never get to his defensive position next inning because he'll be too busy bragging about his HR to a bunch of guys whose names he doesn't even know."
  5. apparently not, as they are attributing a lot of young pitchers' arm troubles to throwing cutters in high school It's kind of like throwing a faster version of a slider. Can put similar stress on an arm as a slider.
  6. I feel like there are like 9 teams that don't have to play Michigan, Michigan St, or Ohio State. Iowa should be 9-1 or 10-0 going into Wisconsin and Nebraska in Iowa City.
  7. Bomb may be an understatement. Soler almost his as hard.
  8. 1.000/1.000/1.000/ 2.000 OPS. call up or nah?
  9. Baez-Bryant-Soler due up together for the first time ever!
  10. Keeper league, PPR rules. QB, RB, 2 WR, TE, FLEX Who should I keep? Options are: TE- Rob Grontkowski- keep him, lose a 6th round pick. Jimmy Graham, Julius Thomas and Jordan Cameron are already set as keepers. WR- Percy Harvin- lose a 13th round pick. Low end #1/high end #2 in Minnesota, but how good will he be in Seattle? WR- Cordarelle Patterson- lose a 14th round pick. 15 points in each of last 4 games, with a couple over 20. No kick return points though. Does he evolve into a solid 2-3 this year?
  11. I would prefer a wing, someone who can be a creator with Rose. But I'm not waiting around for some hypothetical wing if Love was available. It's not like if this wing showed up available you wouldn't still have awesome assets to try and obtain them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk If I'm Minnesota, I'm holding out for Thompson or Wiggins. That Bulls offer should not be good enough considering what other teams could offer (CLE, GS) and I think they will offer at some point. But as to your point, yeah, ideally you'd get a wing player that can fill it up and create. But there's none of those guys on the market. If you can get a 25/12 guy in his prime, you do it....guards be damned.
  12. Petition to stop projected starters and just put projected lineups. [expletive] pitchers!
  13. They started Bowman, a former starter with a 6 pick season for Tillman. Bostic and Greene, one of which was a very high draft pick. Wootton started inside instead of out, but obviously not "off the street". Cohen got some starts off the street, but that's it. But Peppers was there, Anderson, 3/4 of the DBs, McClellin was a 1st round pick. 5 of the projected 11 started at least 15 games. Top draft picks started at 2 other spots.
  14. Vogelbach be like: OH SO THEY'RE GIVING OUT PROMOTIONS NOW!?
  15. His OPS is only .984 in July. But yeah 2-17, with 7 Ks in his last 4+ games.
  16. I was talking to a woman on a dating site who was on the low end of my 1/2age+7 rule and she wasn't even born when Seinfeld season 2 was running. That's when I noped out of dating sites. that's a weird decision to make Was thinking the same thing. "What? You don't know who Magnum PI is?" That's it! I'm done with women forever!
  17. I feel like he's permanently broken. Between the beaning and how bad he's been this year, I just don't think there's much left other than a good Twitter follow. His peripherals have been pretty damn good this year. 3.69 FIP 2.87 xFIP and a 1.5 fWAR despite having that ugly 4.63 ERA. That .347 BABIP isn't helping McCarthy's my guy. I think he's the perfect guy for what the Cubs have been signing. Shouldn't require a long term deal or a lot of money because he doesn't have the strong surface numbers. But he has good peripherals (Wood). Should be over his injury problems (Arrieta) and is a big strong armed guy that with a couple tweaks could turn the corner as a starter (Hammel).
  18. Cespedes and Puig? Those guys have come up and had success pretty early on (Cespedes has since been pretty meh at best), and Soler supposedly was more talented than both of them coming from Cuba. I'm guessing that has a lot to do with it. Abreu too. Always forget about him.
  19. That's 6 unless Castro got cloned or you meant Russell. It's pretty crazy. I've been wanting a veteran power hitter (Nelson Cruz mainly) for the last 2 years and was really hoping for one this offseason. But we've officially reached the point where a FA would literally block someone very much worthwhile from coming up next year. I meant Castillo. Realized that after I posted.

  22. Damn these 5 am wakeups! I went to bed early (10pm EST) and missed all the fun. Don't really like the Almora promotion, but I trust Theo & Co. to know best. They've been pretty aggressive this year. Didn't expect Bryant to be at AAA so soon (of course, I didn't exactly expect him to make a joke of AA). Didn't expect Soler to AA so soon (still only has 77 PAs above A-ball). Didn't expect Schwarber to Daytona, because he's not quite the prospect Bryant is/was and I didn't think he'd be on a similar track in his drafted year.
  23. Been an RBI machine as a Cub.
