  1. I just love the reaction of Sox fans...A year ago, they were all throwing Crede out with the garbage predicting how Fields was going to mash 30 HRs...now they are giddy about this kid replacing Fields and are comparing him to the next Cabrera....LOL.
  2. If we passed on signing Kerry to a one-year deal, I'm going to be really pissed at Hendry. I totally understand not locking him up for 4 seasons, but if he was willing to sign a one-year deal, that's a no-brainer. What I still don't get is the need to come out and publicly say the Cubs are moving on? Why not sit back, see what Woody can get and then decide?
  3. My W flag will be at halfmast tonight....So long Woody, we'll miss one of the truly great guys in baseball. I'll continue to wear my 34 pinstripes with pride next year and beyond.
  4. Boy, I've missed all the knee jerk reactions since the season has ended. I was really high on Ceda as well, but I think he slipped this year posting a 4-3 record, 9 saves and 3.83 ERA at A and AA, which isn't great. Plus people are concerned about his weight. So thinking we could get more for him is debatable. I really don't think Jim believes that Gregg can or will replace Woody. And Woody has proven his loyalty to the Cubs in the past, so I fully expect him to resign unless he is blown away by a new deal. My guess is that Gregg was acquired to take the place of Howry, or hopefully to be included in a Peavy deal since the Pads apparently will be in the market for a closer.
  5. Liar. They'll never win it. I've wasted 30 years. this loss is much more bitter than all the rest. IMO 2003 was the worst because they were one game away from going to the WS. At least the last two years they showed their true colors early and lost the first 3 to spare us the drama. Exactly 84 and 03 were disappointing. These last two years have been inexcusable. At least those teams were trying to win. I honestly feel robbed by this team. They played emotionless, uninspired, lethargic baseball. You're right, this was inexcusable.
  6. Thanks for ripping my heart out Cubs....I'm going to have a VERY hard time ever truly believing in you again...
  7. Turn on Pat and Ron...I'd much rather deal with the delay than listen to possibly the worst and most inaccurate announcing team in history.
  8. Isn't that what we ask of managers and coaches? If they aren't trying to improve their players, why employ them in the first place?
  9. Our comeback in this series is going to going to put the RedSox 04 comeback to shame, people...get on board because it's going to be a great run! GO CUBS! 11 more to go...
  10. I can't recall another veteran announcer making as many mistakes as Stockton does...Two I caught were: After the top of the 7th, as they were going to break, Dick said "And we're heading on to the 8th inning." After a 2-2 count, Dick referred to the count being 1-2...what did he TiVo rewind himself?
  11. I will be prouding wearing my Kerry Wood home jersey for each and every playoff game, along with my Cubs BP hat. You'll see it was 5 years ago that I decided not to wear my Sammy jersey out to a bar for a certain game that will remain nameless because I was on a business trip and didn't want to look too non-professional. We all know what happened with 5 outs remaining. This year, I'm taking no chances. (Oh, and my Cubs division hat is locked away in the closet, I love the new lid, but my focus is now on the big prize!) GO CUBS! 11 to go...
  12. I'm already trying to figure out how to get another TV to put in my room. I was going to watch MU-NU with some friends, but that's not gonna happen now. Cubs on HD on one TV. Mizzou on the old standard definition right next to it. I love my Tigers as much as anyone--and yes, they are headed to the National Championship game this year--but the Cubs must be the priority right now. Plus, we're going to whip the Nubs by 3 touchdowns, you can catch it on TiVo later. GO CUBS (and Mizzou)! 11 till the prize...
  13. Here's my issue...my daughter's 8-year-old soccer practices starts at...yup, you guessed it, 5:30. But, she's sick, so I don't have to coach, do I? GO CUBS! 11 more to go...
  14. This may sound crazy, but anyone think that Freddy could pitch less than his best in a meaningless game for his known buddy Ozzie? I'd hope not, but 2 walks to lead off the game makes you wonder just a bit.
  15. Sorry can't do it....It's not that I dislike the team or players, but I can't stand the Sox fans who almost get more joy seeing the Cubs lose than the Sox win. Let them enjoy their one title in 91 years.
  16. It's because we are leading so many games...
  17. Go to pearljam.com to download the mp3 for 0.99. It's a great song.
  18. Does anyone else turn their attention to buying the t-shirt and hat right after the Cubs win? I've always had a thing for all the champions gear. Last year I was obsessed about getting the hat when it was in short supply, and it looks like I'm on the hunt again. I got the t-shirt last night at Sports Authority, but the guy said they sold out of the hats in 30 minutes. Anyone here have luck? GO CUBS!
  19. That....was AMAZING! GO CUBS!
  20. That was well worth every one of D-Lee's DPs this year.......WHAT A GREAT WIN!!!! GO CUBS!!!!!!!
  21. Now, let's go get a run! GO CUBS!
  22. What a great two days of pitching by the Cubs...Anyone know when the last time that a team followed up a no hitter with a one hitter?
  23. Amid all of the "away game being a home game" garbage, no one seems to be talking about the fact that Z's arm is more than okay, or that he shut down a team that came in as winners of 14 of there last 15 games. I liked Lou's comment that he was going to send Larry out to the mound to remove Z if need be.
  24. I've waited for two things for a long time as a Cubs fan...I got one tonight...and we'll all be getting the other in late October...What an amazing moement....thanks Big Z!....I have a feeling that this will be the turnaround game that revitalizes the team and sets us up for a great playoff run! GO CUBS!
