  1. How do we get in a division with the Nationals, Padres, Royals and Pirates?
  2. I can't think of a Chicago athlete this side of AJ Pudzinski that I detest more than Bradley. HIS problem started with HIS first at-bat at Wrigley, where he took a called third strike to end a rally, proceeded to get thrown out and then didn't even have the intelligence to take his suspension when he was hurt. And it went down hill from there...No Milt, Chicago Cubs fans weren't the ones who swung and missed last year or forgot how many outs there were. All the Cubs did was put their mis-guided faith (and money) in you. You're the one who didn't deliver the goods....You tool!
  3. Now THAT's the way to start off the season....a D-licious long ball from D-Lee!
  4. We couldn't afford to pay more than that for Kennedy? Would have liked to see him sharing time with Baker/Fonty...good glove, nice speed.
  5. Nice to see the Cubs putting forth such effort in the last meaningful game of the season. Turn out the lights. It's officially on to football season.
  6. Sure would be nice if the Cubs could score a couple of runs for Lilly. He's had all of 3 runs the last four outings...
  7. It's actually the 34 HR and 90 RBI that exite me, both of which would lead the Cubs btw. A
  8. For those in the other thread who think Bradley has performed well, you might want to look at Adam Dunn who just hit his 34th HR to go with a .285 BA and 90 RBI...that's production. You don't pay a guy $10M to simply have a good OBP and nothing else. My only hope is that with this latest garbage that the Cubs will admit their mistake and move on from this trainwreck.
  9. Anyone want to take up a collection to pay the Cubs to dump this bum? Seriously, it's bad enough that the moron hasn't come close to actually earning his salary, but now he has the nerve to call Cubs fans idiots? And to think we'd be enjoying an all-star season from Raul Ibanez if Hendry had just listened to Lou!
  10. Also, anyone else think it was a little odd that he took a catcher's indifference to 2B last night when we were down 9 runs? Is that hustle, or an unwritten no-no?
  11. What I can't understand is how he truly feels slighted and surprised that the public has this reaction to him. He doesn't grasp that a person's past actions do in fact influence how they feel about you. And, as a professional athlete, you're paid to produce. When you are trending towards having less than 50 RBI, you're going to catch heat. Regarding being welcomed at Wrigley, he didn't exactly get off to a good start by: a) taking a called third strike with the bases loaded in a close game b) getting thrown out, which further guarantees he won't get close calls by the umps c) refusings to just take his suspension when he was injured, out of principle, further hurting the team d) all of the above The guy is a tool, and unfortunately Hendry selected the worst possible choice for OFs this past offseason.
  12. Hey, it's football season! (I didn't think the Nats could score 15 runs in a 6 game series...let along one game, nice effort Cubs!) See ya next year!
  13. Just when you think it can't get any worse, I introduce our "ace" pitcher... (why did I think that this team could actually go on a run, at home, with Z back?)
  14. What has Kenney done that has been so horrible?
  15. Manage expectations. That's an important point. For some reason, everyone seems to believe that the Sox are in a re-building year so it's kinda expected that they are around a .500 team. Considering that they are coming off a division winning season and have two of their best bats about to become FAs--not to mention the $100M they just invested, that there is no reason they should be winning now, especially considering the division they are in.
  16. ...be more like the Sox. I know, I know, the Sox do have a World Series title, but please winning one title in 92 years doesn't make me want to emulate their franchise. Her main reasoning: 1. Sox management only want championships and I guess having your manager and GM talk about it, makes it happen. 2. The Sox have a better farm system in place because they drafted Beckham and had the talent to trade for Peavy. Are you kidding me? The savior to the Sox has played less than half a season and he's the poster child for how great the Sox farm system is? I guess she forgot that the reigning ROY is a Cub. Or that Zambrano, Marmol, Theriot, Wells, and Marshall all came up through the Cubs system. Or better yet, Hendry turns Cubs prospects into A-Ram and Lee. Meanwhile, name me one good prospect in the last 10 years who has contributed to the Sox besides their rookie 3B. They hyped Fields, Borchard, McCarthy, Rauch and many others over the years who have all busted. What a joke.... The franchise I truly want to emulate is the RedSox...big market team who not only spends $ but does it wisely and drafts incredibly well to boot. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/slezak/1732686,CST-SPT-carol25.article
  17. I tend to agree with Carol. When you are a $90M athlete, you do your exercise whether you want to or not. You go and get treatments whether you want to or not. And, oh yeah, you don't get carpol tunnel (sp?) from spending too much time texting your relatives. When you get paid that much money, you need to treat your profession seriously. I love watching Z when he's on his game, but I'm still waiting for him to take an entire season seriously and get more mentally tough out on the mound. If he does, then maybe he can live up to his self-predicted Cy Young award.
  18. Here's a good writeup and some fodder for all of those Sox fans who think their park is the perfect place to watch a baseball game. What's really odd is that many of the stories involve excessive drinking. I thought people only drank while at Wrigley (aka the beer garden?). I'm confused... http://deadspin.com/5327239/why-your-stadium-sucks-us-cellular-field
  19. I think so....and it's about time!
  20. Great news....Now, I'm hoping this means we can be a player at the trade deadline.
  21. Now THAT's the way to shut the door...and it couldn't happen to a better guy! Let's go finish this one off...couple of State Farm Insurance runs and then a 1-2-3 ninth...
  22. Is anyone working with Carlos to....I don't know, maybe fix his mechanical problems?
  23. That last part is the best thing that Hawk has to offer...
