  1. No way do we trade Marshall unless it's part of a package to land an all-star like Cabrera. Watching Marshall reinforces my belief that a team is better off having a pitcher coming out of nowhere to make an impact than to draft a stud pitcher, who already has too much wear and tear on his arm. Look at how many young stud pitchers come up lame these days.
  2. 6 INN 2 R 5 H 3 BB 7 Ks Cubs win 3-2
  3. Did anyone catch the part where Hendry gave Harry a "Come on, you should know better" line when Harry was dumb enough to ask Hendry if he thought his boss was going to get fired? And they wonder when players/execs don't want to talk on the air...
  4. It's good we can at least keep our humor through all of this...
  5. Boy it sure feels better to get back in the W column tonight...let's make it two in a row tomorrow!
  6. One thing I've noticed about Baker. He'll never preemptively have the bullpen warming up in these situations. He always waits until the first sign of trouble and usually doesn't pull the pitcher until it's too late. Baker is reactive rather than proactive. That strategy didn't work too well in 03 when a certain moron reached out to catch a foul ball.
  7. Are you kidding me??? Z has thrown 105 pitches, and we didn't even have anyone warming up? I've tried to give Dusty the benefit of the doubt for quite some time, but this guy is proving to be a moron...
  8. What still gives me hope as a Cubs fan is that except for D-Lee's absence, this is still the team that went 12-8 to begin the season. While that record won't win you any titles, it shows that this team is capbable of being much better than they have been playing. The addition of Woody this week and Prior/Miller in early June should boost us in the standings as well. I'm sure Astros fans weren't thinking playoffs early last year when they were in a deep hole either, but look how it turned out.
  9. That is a great way to define the luck that is the Chicago White Sox. Buerlie has two first and second with no outs and gets out of both jams. Not to mention his error helped six of the seven runs go unearned, so even his stat line looks good.
  10. Come on, the last time I checked the players making the money on the field ultimately determine wins and losses. How bout we blame our "sure thing" closer who gave up two hits before the Piazza round tripper. Sure, I didn't agree with Dusty having Hairston SAC the runner to third in the 8th or Barrett not pitch hitting for Blanco, but we still had a two-run lead at that point.
  11. Please tell me someone will be doing some play-by-play of Kerry tonight. I need some good news after today's debacle.
  12. Thanks for being completely worthless, Rusch. You've now proven that you can no longer be a starter or a reliever in this league. What the hell has happened to this team in the last 1 1/2 weeks?
  13. I absolutely, positively, truly hate this team right now. They all stink.
  14. Guzman's walks are killing me. You can't get ahead of guys 0-2 and then waste so many pitches. Our fabulous pitching coach sure doesn't seem to focus on pitching efficiency. Might be a good idea considering how often our staff is injured.
  15. Guz has pretty good stuff, but he needs to get it under control before he will have success at this level. You can't give the leadoff hitter a free base this often.
  16. Way to go Guz! Now only if our 1B, 2B and RF could hit like that!
  17. That's kind of like saying the Bears won't lead the league in offense this fall.
  18. I guess if Marshall is going to have a bad stretch, he might as well get it all out of his system in one game...there goes the nice ERA though.
  19. Totally agree. Rookies are going to have bad games. Heck, look at the next phenom Felix H. in Seattle. He's been bad all season. Marshall has looked great except for today. Guzman and Hill need more seasoning though.
  20. Boy, this team absolutely, positively sucks right now. Our pathetic play has even reached Maddux and now Marshall.
  21. CUBS WIN....CUBS WIN....CUBS WIN! Boy, it seems like forever. Do a little dance, make a little love....
  22. Now that's a stat that I like to see.....GO CUBS!
  23. Righttttt. Like we'd want a guy with a career .276 winning percentage. Hope you were being a little sarcastic because Vince Lombardi couldn't even win with the young club the Marlins have right now. Mark my words, Girardi will be a very solid manager when it's all said and done.
