  1. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't Steve Phillips the Cubs GM now??
  2. Duuude man, the alcohol I drank said the same thing! Were we all in the same bar??
  3. not if he can get pierre from the fish for cp as has been rumored. If I'm signing Furcal, as has been rumored, I'd rather have Bradley than Pierre. Also, trading for Bradley doesn't preclude you from trading for Pierre and moving Bradley to right. thats fine but as has been stated above, there is virtually no chance of the cubs getting a guy with bradley's issues. i would rather see pierre in cf than bradley. on paper bradley has better #'s but in reality he's a bomb waiting to go off. maybe he and urbina can be pen pals from their respective jail cells. Bradley is a better fielder than Pierre. He has more power than Pierre. He likely will get on base better than Pierre. He's put up a 900+ OPS once in his lifetime, a number Pierre could only dream about. Does he have some issues, surely. Because of those issues, his cost in salary and players, is also less than Pierre. I agree that I doubt the Cubs look at him. Of course, that shows how inept they've been at creatively making this team better. After 2004, they wanted to get rid of the bad apples. Well, they did and our team was worse for it. I agree the Cubs won't make a run for Bradley, but they should. Once again, not pursuing him is another bad decision on the part of the Cubs. I gotta agree - I would like to have Bradley. If we get Bradley and Furcal I move Bradley to right if possible and keep Patterson in center and the 8 hole. If Patterson doesn't pan out again make a move for a Lofton like person at midseason or bring up Pie.
  4. I think I read somewhere they were based on plate appearances?
  5. It's beyond not too interesting, it's painful to watch. ESPN sucks. I watched Phillips play Red Sox GM on Sunday and thought it was a little hokey. Then they showed a shot of "reporters" raising their hands and shouting out questions. Suddenly it wasn't hokey anymore. It went straight to stupid. I endured it also - the worse part is that flash bulbs keep going off throughout the whole thing................as if?
  6. Wow - same here. We got a game either Saturday or Sunday on a local channel if it wasn't football season - started with Jack Brickhouse and then in the early 80's we got cable. Me and my buddies would stop whatever we were doing on summer afternoons and ride our bikes to whoevers house was closest and watch the game if the Cub's were in Chicago.
  7. He's not a CF though. Fantastic head of hair though, FWIW. I thought he cut the mullet. Who knows? Had he kept the mullet the white sox might have picked him up and he'd be wearing a ring.
  8. Virtually anyone who ever wore a Houston Astos uniform except Jimmy (Cannon) Wynn.
  9. I would disagree with that - I think a lot of people debate that on this board.
  10. Burroughs was horrible last year (250/318/299) - our favorite whipping boy Neifi had him by 85 ops points.
  11. I'm going to go with your sig on this one.
  12. Trade for Luis Castillo and pass on Furcal. Good move. Then, the next move should be a trade for Julio Lugo (made $3.25M in 2005). The Devil Rays have 4 choices: (1) Pick up his $4.95M option. (2) Decline the option, but seeing that he's still arbitration eligible (but under their control for another season), offer him something between $3.25 and $4.95. (3) Non-tender him. (4) Trade him. I wouldn't mind seeing his decent glove and .362 OBP wearing Cubbie blue for a season or two or... I'm with you
  13. I'm no professional baseball player but I know I've never been in a club and made up a bit of a tall tale..............all truth all the time for me - Miller Lite be damned!!
  14. Wow the Mets declined Graves 5 mil option - that would have been good money spent
  15. Oh man..............I could never watch the Creature Feature because it would make my little sister stay up and scream all night.............cool.
  16. Next year is here :?: :?:
  17. What do you mean this game is boring? Jermaine Dye is only a triple and a home run away from the cycle! Fascinating!!
  18. I have the KTRH radio feed on so I can hear Milo Hamilton suck air when the sox win. I fear that when I am in hell Milo and Hawk Harrelson will do all the games there. I can't imagine I would despise those teams any more than the 2 in this series though :?:
  19. I don't believe Corey knows what each specific spot is supposed to do - I have heard him say that his approach does not change with spots in the batting order.
  20. Um, it's not level when the other team has home field advantage. And why would the wild card team have an advantage having played another team in its division so often, yet that other team wouldn't have the same advantage? I think this entire discussion is ridiculous. There's no advantage to being the wild card. There's no justification for adding some more difficulties to their postseason run. They made the postseason. If you're so pissed about wild card teams making the playoffs, why not just go back to the old way of just letting 2 teams make the postseason, thus ruining the season for 80% of fans by July. The wild card is good for baseball. Having 12+ teams in it, or virtually in it at least to the final month is good for baseball. People need to quit looking for things to be upset about and just enjoy baseball. STL didn't have a birthright to the world series just for winning a lot of regular season games. Tons of teams have won a lot of regular season games and never made it to the playoffs, let alone the world series. Amen
  21. Had someone asked me at the start of the season to name the worst possible scenario for the playoffs and WS this is what I would have come up with ( except for the Angels). I found myself rooting for the Cards to win last night - I don't like a single thing about the Astros. Their players, their uniform, their stadium, their tradition(or lack of one) - I don't like any of it so I won't be rooting for them. I once met Jimmy ( Toy Cannon ) Wynn he is the only Astro I've ever liked.
