  1. But isn't this better than not tending him a contract? I mean I think (K)orey pretty hit rock bottom here and needs a change of scenery. Hendry totally mishandled the Sosa and Farnsworth deals, but I think this is different. If he never pans out, then this isn't a terrible trade, IMO. JHJ clearly outplayed Sosa last year and will probably do the same this year - seems like a good deal to me?
  2. Do you think this is a better move than non-tendering him? Trading him is indeed a better move than non-tendering but he would have been good as a backup OFer especially now that we all know Grissom will be our guy. I must have missed the memo - I didn't know Grissom was going to be our guy?
  3. I'll second that - do you think Dusty would just not play him because he would be confused as to where to play him?
  4. Hopefully this won't affect his performance on my fantasy team :)
  5. If the Iowa fans didn't storm the court, they'd be disrespecting the Illini program. ;) Right, you know Illinois has lost like 1 home game the last decade, yet we weren't even mentioned the entire day when they talked about hardest places to play at. But, that's ok just keep acting like our program doesn;t exist and get all fired up when we lose espn. plus doug "credit card" gottlieb tried to compare ther 4 guard system at villanove to our 4 guard system. saying theres were better. First off we only had 3 guards last year, secondly name me one of there guys who will be the third pick in the draft. What are you guys complaining about?? At least you don't have Stevie Alford for a coach - that is something to complain about.
  6. With all the Patterson talk, sounds like Prior and C-Pat for Tejada and Bedard might get it done. I hope not. I might be able to live with that deal. I have to know that Bedard is going to be sure fire 2 though. No Prior, No Prior, No Prior. Why? It's not like Maddux ever did anything after the Cubs traded him! Seriously though, I'm just not a big Prior fan as many are. I don't like what I see from him when teams are hitting him. Granted, he has a lot success and potential to be a wonderful pitcher but IMO he's a quitter when he's being beat. Again...this is my opinion. Maddux wasn't traded he was a free agent.
  7. Ron Santo believes in momentum..................that and funamentals :)
  8. I think I agree also - I have to say I was pondering that question for a good part of the game though.
  9. Salisbury's analysis of the 2nd half - he thinks Bush, Leinert and LenDale White are going to be the keys  I'm just a little old Iowa graduate and I might have figured that out if I thought about it for a couple of hours!
  10. Well, he did go to USC... Good point
  11. I'm listening to the espn radio halftime - does anyone besides me think Sean Salisbury is a pompous a**?
  12. I'm still so mad I could spit - I mean I could go on and on about how bad it was. Kirk Ferentz maintained his composure in the postgame interview on the radio - all he would say was "They were definitely consistent throughout the game."
  13. Iowa kicked a beautiful onsides kick but were flagged for offsides. Replays show no one was actually over the line when he kicked the ball. The color guy was having a coronary about it he was so pissed. "This play was too close and too important to throw that flag." I totally agree. It's not just that call there had to be a least 6 important questionable calls in the game. No way Iowa wins that game the way it was offictiated.
  14. I would resolve to make only transactions that would keep everyone at NSBB happy..............wait a minute is that possible?? :? Happy New Year!!
  15. If we get Luis don't we need to get another arm in the deal? I mean to throw it in from the outfield for him??
  16. Although it saddens me I can't see any way Hendry keeps Walker for whatever reason. On a not quite as sad note I don't see anyway we keep Patterson.
  17. Ugh. I hate hendry so much. Why why why does he want to trade walker? I'm sick of Hendry and his douchbaggery. Also, vance, i'd pull that trade in a second. I doubt hendry would though. Douchbaggery....................very interesting. Is that something similiar to carpetbaggery
  18. Saw the thread title and thought rhetorical question........................right?
  19. A forum for discussing trades, free agent signings, etc. - either real or imagined
  20. I guess this means Murton will have to learn to speak French?
  21. Agreed Agreed Agreed Agreed Wah Wah Wah Wah Seriously, what makes his era any more valid than the current "live ball" era? The run scoring environment was much higher in the '27 - '35 era than it has been through the "juiced" era. Wasn't that one of the "golden ages" of the sport? Has the game changed since Goose played? Absolutely. Is it worse? Matter of preference. =D> Old timers of every generation complain about the lack of funamentals and how much better their brand of baseball was. Bold prediction - players of today will be complaining about same thing in 20 or 30 years. Are you intentionally quoting Santo??
  22. I'm 41 years old and fat and I'm better than anything we currently have slated for right field :)
  23. There he goes again.................driving up the market for overweight GM's with a donut fetish  Go Hawks!!
  24. If God is getting involved in this maybe we could talk to him about thawing out Ted Williams. He' look pretty good in right field for us
