.... and a midget douche, at that ! Also leader for most uncomfortable bottom of the 7th interview. Never seen them kick someone out after 1 batter. That was painful. I'm glad they gave him the hook when they did. -
Deadspin's 100 worst MLB players in history

I got a kick out of this one: I can only imagine the groan coming from Brenly as a player misses not one but two bases on his way to third. -
Is it just me or has Hollandsworth really improved over the past couple seasons? He is relatively tolerable in the booth.
-
What did he say???? Mostly just moans and groans.

Bob has had enough.

Levine: Hendry secure but firesale could begin
Irrelevant Dude replied to Men in Blue's topic in Chicago Cubs Talk
Who is "everyone"? Marlon Byrd and Kerry Wood? If Hendry is waiting for them to turn the team around, he is even dumber than I thought. -
Whether he swings away or squares around, it's going to be a bunt like it or not.

First Lou Brock, then Greg Maddux... Now this.

I haven't seen any of the calls you're talking about 'cause I'm reduced to radio today..... but Timmons and Cooper (1st & 3rd base umpires) are both 12 year veterans. I would expect better of them. It was more of a general comment really about calls over the past few weeks. I never saw a replay of the LeMahieu swing, but it appeared to be a borderline call.
-
There have been a lot of questionable strike calls on checked swings lately. If in doubt, the umpires seem to be calling them strikes more often than not.

I haven't really thought this through, but they almost need to make the NBA draft 3 rounds. Round 1: Teams can pick from the pool of both college and foreign players Round 2: Teams can only pick college players Round 3: Teams can only pick foreign players

From what I've heard, it wasn't so much his call to leave Illinois, though. Yep, I think he was leaving either way, but they just let him save some face by making it look like his call.

Have there been any updates on Cashner's status?

I haven't ever been the biggest Zambrano fan, but I don't see any purpose whatsoever to dealing him as a salary dump. First of all, his contract isn't that bad. Yes, he has a lot of money on the books for the next few years, but he is also still a very productive starting pitcher. Secondly, who are the Cubs going to replace him with? Why dump salary to leave a gaping hole that you need to spend more money to fill? There is clearly nobody in the minor league system who is ready to step into the rotation at any point in the near future. Unless someone is willing to pay his salary and send something in return, I don't see any reason to consider a trade. -
Spectacular defense on display once again.

And just when he had cracked the .100 mark too!

"Neither team deserved the title any more than the other" Uhh... I think the team that won it did. He really said that? I may not have quoted it word for word, but yep, that is what he said. He really came across sounding like someone who felt his team was entitled to win the championship, but he stated that maybe this was their "rite of passage".

Miami completely gave up, I love it. You could argue that fouling to extend the game probably wouldn't have made any difference in the outcome, but the Heat sure didn't even give themselves a chance. What character that team has. I still think they will eventually win multiple championships, but for one season it was great to watch them fail.
