  1. The Christmas Day game just became much less interesting, but the remaining games on the schedule are all winnable. That means the Bears just need Hanie to lead them to 3 wins out of 5 games against the Raiders, Chiefs, Broncos, Seahawks, and Vikings. That is certainly do-able.
  2. "Another Tim Tebow night!"
  3. He has 172 freaking total yards and that is a "magical game." He had a good drive... ONE good drive.
  4. I hate life.
  5. The crowd is chanting Tebow and the announcers are talking like he is taking over the game. I am going to puke.
  6. Hey Broncos fans, this is what you asked for. Enjoy!
  7. If the Jets QB was Tom Brady, you can't tell me that wouldn't have been a late hit.
  8. This Quarterback play on both sides makes me want to poke out my eyes with a fork.
  9. I am in this camp, although it is probably closer to 2 AB's that pitchers actually take per game. The strategy is part of the reason I prefer National League rules, but I also like that a team's entire 25-man roster matters in the National League more than it does in the American League because every player on the bench could see action on any given night.
  10. Hell no. Plus I don't think anyone ever said there would be more interleague play. I believe it will just be spread throughout the season.
  11. Luckily being the manager doesn't involve standing down the 3rd base line and waving runners home right? Bullet dodged. Unless your name is Ron Washington.
  12. I was dreading the mispronounciation of Mackanin, so I can live with Sveum.
  13. Ken Rosenthal is reporting the same thing.
  14. Swam with a long A. As a kid, I remember calling him Dale Suh-vee-um. Damn those baseball cards for not telling me how to pronounce it.
  15. I can't tell you how often I hear friends or acquaintances make the comment, "baseball season is too long." To me, that is really just saying "I'm not a baseball fan." It is kind of like saying, "I love Breaking Bad, but I wish the season was only 8 episodes long." Why would anyone who enjoys baseball root for the season to be shorter? For me, the 4+ months without baseball already feels like an eternity. Why would anyone want a shorter season, which only results in a longer offseason. This is really just a rant/pet peeve based on a conversation I had with a friend while I count down the days to Spring Training.
  16. I should put a website up real quick and post an article that the Cubs have informed me that Alomar will be the next manager. I have a 25% chance of being right and nothing to lose.
  17. I'm not sure how this would work, but I wonder if the Cubs perceived interest in Sveum could be used as leverage in the compensation talks with the Red Sox. "We know you want Sveum, so we will back off him if you will accept this reduced compensation package."
  18. I heard Bruce Levine on the radio yesterday and he said the same thing. He expects a decision to be made by Friday.
  19. Supposedly, either the Rays denied permission or it wasn't asked. Presumably the only reason the Rays would deny permission would be if Martinez is next in line for their managerial job... so maybe they are planning to let Maddon go after the season and let Martinez take over. This season? As in, right now? Or keep him for another year then let him go? Because if it's the latter, then that's a pretty strange plan to know you're going into a season with someone who you don't want. If it's the former -- the season's long over, time to get cracking on doing whatever they're going to do. I meant after the season when Maddon's contract runs out. Otherwise it would really be a jerk move for them to deny Martinez the chance to interview for a manager job and I don't believe they would do it (especially after Maddon himself stated that he believes Martinez is ready to be a manager). I doubt that is what happened, which makes me wonder what is really going on. Maybe this is all part of Epstein's master plan to let the process play out, then swoop in and grab Martinez after all his other interviews have been conducted.

  21. Now off to the cryogenic freezer!
  22. It had to have been later than that. I signed up on 11/13/2006 and I am at 17095.
