    What are the Cubs realistically going to be able to get for Lahair? I'm starting to think that it better be a pretty good prospect or else there is really no reason to let him go. He is a cheap, team controlled player who provides left handed power and can play multiple positions (albeit not spectacularly). Even if he is not an everyday player, why deal a piece like that unless you are going to get something of real value in return?

    Someone should put him in a room with Bruce Levine, who almost caused me to yell at my radio in the office this morning. He said that A.J. Pierzynski should have made the allstar team over Mauer. When someone mentioned that Mauer has a higher OBP and OPS, Levine responded something to the effect of, "I don't care about those numbers. All that matters is run production." I can't believe he gets paid to spew that information.

    I really wish he would be good again. This lineup would look halfway decent 1 through 5. The same can't be said with Reed Johnson in the 5 hole.

    That is a really good question. 50 games of a $6.5 million salary comes out to just over $2 million. Do we know exactly how much cash the Cubs sent to Boston?

    Judging by Laurence Holmes' comments on The Score, I take it that not everyone liked and respected Marlon Byrd. He stopped short of calling Byrd a "d bag", but did sarcastically state that "it couldn't happen to a nicer guy".

    The banner on Cubs postgame says, "Report: Rizzo to be called up on Tuesday". I'm not sure whether that is accurate or where they got their info, but that is what they are going with.

    Even if this is purely precautionary,.the problem is that his recent great starts are devalued because he will have to come back and prove that he is healthy. Then if he has a couple poor starts, his value is shot. This is horrible timing. Sent from my LG-LS840 using Tapatalk 2

    I'm pretty sure Castro was called up after the cut off for him, Rizzo is later in the season because of his service time from last year. (I could be completely wrong) edit - and while I was typing that I was proven wrong. I could be wrong too, but wasnt Castro just called up before the super 2 cutoff, meaning the Cubs still have him under control for the same number of years, but he will get an extra arbitration year?     You think it's silly to wait an additional 10-11 days to get an extra full year of control? Yes. If Rizzo projects as expected, he'll be locked up long term regardless.
