  1. Young Danny Bernstein is back. https://312sports.com/
  2. If I were the Cubs, I would have him skip a start even if he feels fine. Use this as an opportunity to give him a bit of extra rest.
  3. The Bears just signed Bagent to an extension. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/08/20/chicago-bears-tyson-bagent-contract-extension/ I like it. He is probably an adequate NFL backup and now the Bears have stability in their QB situation for several years. Of course, this doesn't eliminate the possibility of a future trade either. If Bagent proves to be good enough that someone wants to trade for him, having him locked up cheaply for a few more years will only be a positive. And good for him, going from undrafted free agent to a $10+ Million contract.
  4. This appears to be a pretty big deal. Some good, but mostly bad. https://awfulannouncing.com/mlb/apple-drops-baseball-nbc-peacock-espn-buys-mlb-tv-netflix-nabs-home-run-derby.html The good: No more Apple TV+ exclusives. They have a great presentation, but it was another service I had to subscribe to just to watch maybe 1 game a month. The bad: No more Apple TV+ games. Again, they had great presentation. ESPN buying MLB.tv (on top of everything else in their recent shopping spree). MLB.tv has always been run very well and now who knows what ESPN will do with it. I'm guessing there goes the end of my free MLB.tv subscription every year as a Season Ticket Holder as well. Home Run Derby on Netflix. I guess I have watched my last Home Run Derby.
  5. He did. That was an awful tag. I thought he wasn't going to go with how long it took him to get off the bag.
  6. All I can think about is the pregame interview Sutcliffe did with Willi Castro the day after he was acquired and Sutcliffe was drooling all over him. "I was watching you take ground balls earlier and you gave a cannon!"
  7. I did not even read that article because the premise was so stupid. In a lineup full of guys who strike out plenty, I will never complain about a consistent hitter like Nico who almost always puts the ball in play. I "get" the analytics in a vacuum, but baseball is not played in a vacuum.
  8. I'm going against the grain here. The Cubs are going to lose the Boyd game, then somehow score runs against Woodruff and win the night game.
  9. I remember naively thinking "It will be great to be able to see replays on the video board!" Now how often do they even show a replay? That was never the point.
  10. Build a better roster with players who are less likely to fall on their face for weeks/months at a time. Yes, Kyle Tucker was supposed to be that guy and nobody could have foreseen him turning into a pumpkin, but the rest of the roster is Jed's "core" that has failed year after year.
  11. Now you will. I'm sorry. 😁
  12. Completely random post that doesn't deserve it's own thread: Is anyone else bothered by the Cubs' PA announcer? I attend quite a few games, and this season especially his voice (the intonation specifically) has started to become extremely grating to me. I can't say that I have every really paid much attention to PA announcers, until now that is. I have really just started to get bothered by hearing the same reads with the same exact intonation over and over again. You can tell me I'm crazy. I almost certainly am.
  13. That a was a terrific throw.
  14. I love how Warren is spinning the Arlington Heights site now. Wanting to remain in Chicago has now been replaced by "It's still in Cook County!"
  15. I don't claim to have any idea what a "virtual measurement" is, but how is the result not instantaneous?
  16. Can we get someone at NASA working on this Wrigley Field wind situation as a top priority?
  17. Is Tucker hearing the boo birds yet? If not, it has to be getting damn close.
