    To be fair, it sounds like pretty much everyone in Iowa's lineup was ripping the opposing pitcher, so take Javy's home runs with a grain of salt.

    Amazing game by Hendricks. Some credit also has to go to Maddon for sticking with him through some rough outings and repeatedly expressing confidence in him. Many previous Cubs managers would have been quick to yank Hendricks from the rotation, while letting the "veteran" Wood keep his spot. It is certainly refreshing that Maddon isn't one of those guys.

    Has the pitcher missing his spot always been an excuse for umpires to miss strike calls? It seems to be a more frequent occurrence in recent years.
