  1. That and the game will probably resume in 2 hours with no wind.
  2. Again? Joniak does a good job, but what is going on with Par Hughes?
  3. I still think the Giants will overtake the Dodgers in the West. All it takes is for one of those two teams to falter down the stretch to make things a whole lot easier for the Cubs.
  4. I legitimately can't decide whether umpires have always been this inconsistent and we are just more aware of it now due the amount of information (Pitch Trax, etc.) that is available to us. Or are umpires truly calling games more inconsistently now than they have in the past? They were even worse in the past. Totally made up zones in the old days was considered apart of an umpire's personality.. Yes, I remember that, but the problem with the zone now is more the inconsistency than the zone itself. If a guy is consistently calling the same pitch outside the zone, that isn't ideal, but at least players know what to expect. This year the strike zone seemingly changes from one batter to the next.

  6. There's the hit, now make him work and get him out of the game.
  7. I'm surprised they didn't give Ross the start against a tough (understatement) lefty.
  8. At this rate, maybe they can get Sale out of the game after 7. Scoring a run or two before then would be nice too.
  9. Not really. I thought he looked ok in the 3rd, with the exception of the home run which barely cleared the fence to the opposite field.
  10. How could you possibly list possible outcomes for a Castro at bat without listing a weak groundball to the left side of the infield?
  11. It's fine but the constant complaining every time a team were competing against scores a run and it's only mid-August is a bit strange I find it less annoying than the constant BABIP complaining.
  12. And if the Pirates keep playing well, good. I would much rather see them in a one-game playoff than the Giants, home field advantage or not.
  13. That is a bit frustrating, but another way to think about it is every day that goes by without losing ground to the Giants is one fewer day for them to catch us.
  14. This is going to be a long day for the Cubs offense.
  15. Can we please get rid of Coomer on play-by-play? The 5 seconds of silence before announcing Schwarber's home run was simply fantastic.
  16. So they should just write the problem off as "the yips" and not do anything about it? I'm no sports psychologist, but there must be SOME way to attempt to address the problem other than ignoring that it exists. The only way I know to fix it is to recite Victoria's secret catalog text.
  17. I am truly curious, does Lester not practice making throws in practice? And if so, are there balls flying every which way on every throw? Or does he not have the issue in practice? How can this be fixed?
