  1. Rendon's at bat in the 10th was so great. The guy just doesn't chase and punishes mistakes. There aren't many hitters like him, and certainly none on the Cubs.
  2. Fangraphs has him worth over $26 million this year. Honestly, the main outlier for him has been the dongs. The concerning part is that that issue first showed up in 2017, and isn't considered that this league-wide power surge didn't happen until last season? This where I get so damn confused. I watched Q all season, and never ever would I have thought, 'Yeah, this guy was worth a one-year, $26 million dollar deal this year.' I don't see how that is possible. I would double check my algorithm on that one.
  3. There isn't another pitcher out there for $10.5 million that can give innings and actually has some upside?
  4. Quintana shouldn't be on this team next year, but he will be, because letting him walk makes the trade look even worse.
  5. I agree with this. Maddon has some fault, but this mess isn't his doing. Anything less than Theo taking primary responsibility will be unacceptable. The only thing I want to hear him address in his end of season press conference is the mistakes he has made and what he plans to do to fix them. Maddon is almost certainly gone, but it is largely due to the mistakes that have been made above him. That partially includes ownership, but mostly lies square on the shoulders of Theo. I don't want to hear him place blame on anyone else. The players have proven they are who they are, and it is Theo who bought into them being better than that. I hope Tom Ricketts is furious, and he has every right to be. But does he really care, or is he counting his money and waiting for the new network to launch (which will very likely not even be carried by some of the major content distributors, Dish Network for example)?
  6. By "worthy replacement", do you mean current pop music hits blaring over the loudspeakers? Organ music is almost non-existent now at Wrigley anyway, which is unfortunate.
  7. It's almost like run differential is a nearly meaningless stat.
  8. So you're telling me there's a chance!
  9. He needs to stop doing that long stride lunge to first base. It makes me cringe every time, especially with his knee problems. Although maybe it will be another team's concern the next time he takes the field.
  10. I still haven't seen a tag. What did they see?
  11. Dammit, I thought that might fall.
  12. Schwarber HR here might be the only chance.
  13. Ryan has been good, but it sucks that Cubs relievers have to constantly nibble off the edges of the strike zone. Time and again, we see opposing batters foul off pitches until they either walk or the pitcher makes a mistake.
  14. To be fair, it is only the 7th inning and other guys have been used a lot.
  15. Was the first strike against Kemp on a swing? It didn't look like it to me, but that ball was way up.
  16. Get that guy another cortisone shot.
  17. I'm trying to be optimistic, but at this point I think it is extremely unlikely that the Brewers don't make the playoffs. With the Cubs and Cardinals playing each other 7 times, and the Brewers playing garbage teams, they are going to pass one if not both teams.
  18. Based on what we have seen so far, I'm perfectly ok with him as a cheap #8 hitter playing 2B. Spend money somewhere else.
