  1. I thought playoff assignments were based on performance?
  2. That is an insanely horrible call to end the game. Completely unfair.
  3. The Giants are getting screwed with this zone.
  4. And unfortunately, I think they have the advantage against the Belt-less Giants too.
  5. And Astros, don't forget the Astros Basically everyone but the Giants, Braves, and Rays.
  6. McFarland gave up 2 rockets and then walked one of the worst hitters in the Dodgers lineup to extend the inning. Schildt definitely outsmarted himself there.
  7. I'm rooting hard for the Cardinals. This may be the best opportunity for anyone to beat the Dodgers. Get rid of the Dodgers and then let KB's Giants destroy the Cards.
  8. I dont know how these things tend to play out over a career, but Happ's extreme hot and cold issues bother me. I dont think LF would be in the top 5 places that Cubs need to improve next season. But I would be down for moving Happ if it helps net something useful and finding another LFer I agree. I admit I was wrong about Happ and he is definitely worth tendering a contract. But I'm still not sold on him as a long term answer in the outfield and would be willing to entertain offers to return another useable piece.
  9. Arrieta was DFA'd today by the Padres and finishes the season (assuming he is out of chances) with a 7.39 ERA. He can be proud knowing that his career ended with one of the worst seasons in MLB history.
  10. I don't know about Wisdom anymore. Clearly he has power, but I don't think he can be relied on as a Major League starter with his 40% + strikeout rate. And his bat just doesn't play off the bench. His strikeout rate is too high for him to be of much value as a pinch-hitter in any key situation. I certainly don't think the team can carry both Bote and Wisdom on the bench, as they have fairly redundant skillsets, and Bote provides a little more versatility. Wisdom has been a good story, but he might end up back in AAA next year as injury insurance (and Bote will most likely get injured again). I don't see Alfonso Rivas on your list. What are people's thoughts about him? With him being able to play the corner outfield spots, is it crazy to think he might be able to make the roster next year as a reserve outfielder and a backup (occasional platoon partner) to Schwindel at 1B?
  11. I started in 2013 as well. But what you said above is the problem. You roughly break even in the good years, and take a bath in the not-so-good years. My goal was never to make money, but I can't sustain multiple consecutive years of huge losses and continue to buy tickets. Taking the losses in 2013 and 2014 was palatable because of the promise of what was coming, but this time the future is more unclear.
  12. That guy cashed in at the absolutely right time. He set himself up for life and then immediately turned into a pumpkin.
  13. Bears postgame praising the defense.
  14. Highlight of my night is arguing this point against former Bears Dez Clark. But yeah, maybe not all the 3 & outs (actually 0). Only 1 punt. In opponents territory all night. But again 14 points scored is never going to be enough. And again, held off the board until the final 2 minutes of the half. Made a point to add a bunch of speed to the offense, but 0 completions longer than 11 yards. I'm not sure they even had an attempt over 13, and that 13 yarder was on 4th & 15. Sent from my SM-A115AZ using Tapatalk Dalton doesn't have the arm to go farther then 13 yards. Also, given his age he prolly can't see past 13 yards The guy is 33. Not exactly Rip Van Winkle (or Jason Peters for that matter).
  15. Interesting strategy of attempting to come back with 3 yard passes.
  16. That was so predictable. Take the penalty instead of 4th down, them give up the 1st down on the next play.
  17. I didn't see any of it as cringe worthy. Yes, Ricketts is a piece of horsefeathers, but I can separate the moment from him to simply appreciate KB's return.
  18. I'm starting to come around on Schwindel as a possible piece for 2022. Has he ever played other positions? It's hard to justify carrying a non full time player who can only play 1B. Any chance he can be passable at the corner outfield spots?
  19. This guy wins everything.
  20. When is the last time JD did a game?
  21. Or, it could be the fact that nobody cares what Kevin PIllar has to say. These are terrible takes. Three players made the thumbs down sign and one of the most prominent baseball reporters out there calls out the two minorities but doesn't mention the white guy. That's bad for a number of reasons but the main one is a racial bias. Racial bias in sports is definitely a thing and we have seen examples of it in the past. But also, Kevin Pillar has a much lower profile than Baez and Lindor and is largely irrelevant. Both of those things can be true.
  22. Or, it could be the fact that nobody cares what Kevin PIllar has to say.
  23. Yeah, I think the impact is being seriously overblown. Javy's actions certainly don't help his chances of returning to the Mets, but that was unlikely anyway following their post trade deadline collapse. For every other team, this isn't going to factor into their decision-making one way or another. The only thing that is going to damage Javy's value is his disappointing performance on the field over the past few seasons. I do side mostly with Sandy Alderson on the issue itself. I understand that you can't have players openly mocking a team's own fans, whether those fans are booing or not. Maybe the Mets could have handled the situation more quietly, but the cat was already out of the bag after Javy's comments. Ultimately, I think this will all blow over in the near future and people will have forgotten about it by the offseason.
  24. He is definitely still a solid mid-rotation starter, but perhaps this was a necessary wake up call that he isn't the ace that the Cubs can build a staff around. The concern that I have is whether he is a guy that can sustain performance as he ages. You can argue that he doesn't rely on velocity, but everyone needs velocity to a point. Can Hendricks lose a few MPH off his fastball and still be a viable pitcher?
  25. He's going to have to pitch later.
