  1. Sadly, there is too much money on the table for them not to go to 14 teams.
  2. I know they don't want to do it, but it's time for the players to walk away until the league is ready to negotiate in good faith.
  3. I don't understand limiting it to 4 teams. I say put every non-playoff team in the lottery with equal odds. Combine that with the expanded playoffs and there is virtually no motivation to lose games.
  4. Nothing of note happened today?
  5. Yeah, Howard's is fine, though I could see an argument for being out the rest of the year, not just regular season. Gard could have got one and it not been egregious, but I think 0 is right for him. But dudes throwing punches and only getting a game is nuts. Yep, I don't see how the punishment for throwing punches wasn't more than a game. There doesn't seem to be any consistency with how suspensions are handed out, and somehow Illinois always seems to be treated differently.
  6. I don't see it on Pocketcasts yet. Do you have an RSS link? I never heard of this app, but according to their website, you need a trailer plus one episode to be featured. It is showing up now. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk

  8. Of course. They have to. He slapped an assistant coach in the head. I don't care what excuse he has, nothing can justify his actions. And I'm sure there will be some player suspensions too. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
  9. And they will be the garbage 7 inning games, using the excuse of a reduced spring training schedule to keep the 7 inning games and extra-innings baserunner in place. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
  10. I like the idea too, but the problem is it penalizes teams whose starting pitcher gets injured or absolutely shelled early in the game. They already had an uphill battle to come back, and now they have to do it without their DH.
  11. Given that a 14 team playoff was and is on the table I can categorically state that 12 is not the worst. It's not good by any means but it's not the worst. Yeah, I can live with 12, considering the alternative. 40% of teams making the playoffs isn't great, but there's no stopping playoff expansion at this point. It is money on the table for both sides. 12. Has anyone heard what the status is of everyone's favorite stupid extra innings rule? I read an article this morning that suggested the new rule will most likely continue indefinitely, but I certainly hope that isn't the case. Out of all the changes that have been made and/or proposed, that is the one I hate the most.
  13. From Passan's tweet: Not to turn this thread political, but that problem extends beyond MLB. People in power seemingly prefer kicking the can down the road rather than finding compromises that a majority of people can live with.
  14. I like it. If Stroman gets hurt or underperforms, it's still only a short commitment that won't hurt the team long term. If he is good and the Cubs are bad, he's a valuable trade chip. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
  15. Fangraphs projected 4/$84 at the beginning of the offseason Let's split the difference. I'll go with 5/110. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
  16. On the bright side, maybe there was an explanation for why he was so terrible last year.
  17. Nagy on his decision making of the field goal attempt versus a Hail Mary.. "Both are low" Yes, but one was a 0% probability.
  18. Hell, put Cairo Santos at receiver and send him to the end zone. He has a better chance of catching the hail Mary than he had of making that kick.
  19. You know your kicker's absolute max range, right? Because that was well beyond it. Even the 2% chance on a hail Mary is greater than zero.
  20. But why did the starter get injured during the series? It could be that it was going to happen no matter what, but it could have also been a result of pitching on short rest and/or in relief. I'm not going to absolve the Dodgers of all blame and just chalk everything up to bad luck.
  21. Nice to see Ayo get some meaningful minutes right off the bat.
  22. The Dodgers won 106 games in the regular season and now suddenly Dave Roberts has flipped the switch to crazy rotation/bullpen management for the playoffs. He got away with it against the Giants, but he's definitely playing with fire (and hopefully will continue to get burned).
  23. wrong. institute the pitch clock. The 3 batter minimum will fix everything. Disregard the fact that teams are setting records for the number of pitchers used.
  24. The two best teams in baseball, battled for the division title down to the last game of the season, came down to the last inning of the deciding game in the playoff series, and it was ultimately decided by the freaking umpire. That just can't happen.
