  1. You just put yourself in a position where I'll love you for the rest of your life, or I'll hunt you down and kill you. Good luck to both of us, I guess!
  2. What's the difference between the Braves signing Andruw Jones to a huge contract and the Cubs signing him to a huge contract?...unless you're saying to get rid of guys when they reach a certain pay rate. Because the Braves can sign him to a huge, long-term contract at age 24 that takes him through his productive seasons. The Cubs would be signing him for the seasons where he starts getting worse and worse, as we didn't have the opportunity at age 24.
  3. 1. Trade Pierre to a team in need of a "real" CF and leadoff man. Should be able to get 2 mid-tier prospects for him, or one very young prospect with a great ceiling and a high flameout rate. 2. Move Jacque to center. It should boost his value (and production relative to the league). At the end of the season, he'd be easily tradeable as a CF. And Pie could take over the next season. Be sure to hold on to Jacque until the end of the season though, as he wont get much in a trade in mid-season. 3. DFA Rusch and Bynum, option Novoa to AAA 4. Call up Sing or acquire a AAAA player to stick in right field. Bring up Ryu to use as the long man, Wuertz to the pen in middle relief. 5. Hold on to Neifi until some team loses their SS, and trade him off for a low-ceiling prospect. Theriot comes up as the replacement. 6. See about trading Maddux, perhaps back to the Braves to shore up their rotation. Draw the names of their prospects out of a hat, as if you think one you choose will do well outside their system, you're mistaken. I know there's more, I can't just think of it all off the top of my head...
  4. Koronka, too! They can keep Koronka if they'll take Bynum back... heck, I might even send another prospect out with him.
  5. Macias had a .590 OPS last year IIRC. Bynum is at .474 right now.
  6. Bynum looked a bit out of sorts after that attempt...
  7. Per Rotoworld: I can't decide whether to laugh or cry about that last line...
  8. Ahhh, big glass full of Bailey's on the rocks. I'm better now.
  9. This is exactly why I make a point to never run out of beer. But just for emergencies, I have a bunch of liquor bottles in my closet. I just bought a bottle of Bailey's tonight that I might start sipping on later. I'm setting up my absinthe. Why was Barrett on the phone? Oh, I haven't had the green fairy in ages... brings back some fond memories. Edit: Where do you find that stuff around here?

  11. I thought he had that one. He did have that one... the ump just didn't notice.
  12. He is terrible. Easily the biggest mistake of Hendry's tenure. That remains to be seen. Hawkins was a bust, Macias, Neifi, and Rusch have all been brought in under this regime... Estes too.
  13. Hey, he'd be pretty fast for a backup catcher.
  14. Well crapcakes... On the bright side of things, if this game gets to the 32nd inning, we'll have another run.
  15. That was worse than the first pitch, but somehow it was a strike...
  16. Jimmy Piersall did that once..... back around '63 give or take. What is this... '63 you speak of? Don't make me come over there and smack you !!! With your cane?
  17. That's the reason it's outlawed. I know people have done it before, but I just can't be bothered to get up and grab my reference books, sorry. More of a curiosity on my part. I don't want people to go out of their way. Nah, it's alright... I'll probably end up looking it up later, as now my curiousity has been picqued also. Be on the lookout for it popping up somewhere random.

  20. Son of a... Why does Len keep mentioning it? Everybody email him at once!
  21. Hey, man.... I remember when air was clean and sex was dirty !! You must not have been to Golden Colorado lately. Help me.... I don't get the connection. Sorry drifted off there. Clean air. Golden doesn't have clean air . . . or clean water. I thought the Coors commercials always pushed this fact. What did the mormons have to do with it? Mormon's like clean air?
