  1. 106.7 ? Is that a one-day record ?
  2. Pete Van Wieren is probably the most underrated announcer in the game of baseball.
  3. he's only on pace for 115 rbi... slacker !
  4. especially after mulder's performance. marshall back out for the 8th?? that was tempered a bit by Willis blowing up in the sixth. Four starts for Buddiga today. there would be 3 qs, 2 cg, with zito pending had mike uggla not allowed a looper to 2nd clear the bases...
  5. Luke is ready for Game 5: http://espn-att.starwave.com/media/ncb/2004/0404/photo/a_schenscher_il.jpg Somewhere, Nick Smith is watching...
  6. Pure speculation, but I think sleep deprivation may have been behind the accident given the time and location. It's hard to stay awake driving through the deserts in CA in the day time...
  7. 7 hr, 21 rbi in 7 games for Mench. We should all get our shoe size checked...
  8. Papelbon isn't going to give up an earned run this year...
  9. He is suggesting the second point, but this is a hitter who has walked more than 50 times just once with a career .327 OBP. What you see is what you get. He was a terrible addition to this offense.
  10. 4 point difference between Buddiga and the Dawgs. Both teams with big scoring weeks, but no pitcher starts it seems so this will come down to the offenses (or negative points from the Buddiga bullpen)...
  11. To tie the game so Novoa could give up a bomb to Pujols ?
  12. Quite the battle taking place between Buddiga and the Raw Dawgs. This is typical. Both teams always play at a higher level when they face each other. Especially Kyle Davies and Daniel Cabrera.
  13. Boston does it every year for Patriots day. They have a day game that starts at 11 am and the Boston Marathon is also today. It's a tradition. Yeah, but that is an 8 AM game time for Seattle fans. I think they should make sure they are playing an AL East or Central team for this series. Usually the Patriots Day game is against the Yankees or Blue Jays and starts at 11 am so that fans can get out of the ballpark to see the elite runners pass by around 2 pm. There is talk of moving the game up to 10 or 1030 so that this tradition can stay in place given the length of today's ballgames. The Sox announcers were joking about the fact that there was no TV coverage for the game back in Seattle and that anyone who was listening on radio was probably sitting in rush hour traffic for work.
  14. Montreal for trading Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee, and Brandon Philips for Bartolo Colon. He pitched 17 games in Montreal. Cliff Lee is already 35-17 for Cleveland and Sizemore had a great season as a 22-year old. Brandon Philips was the only bust in that deal and he was actually the top prospect at the time.
  15. There's nothing stupid about being off on the 3rd Monday in April! The Sox have Buddiga off to a decent start...
  16. I used to say the same in college. Get work done by 10 or 11, watch Cubs game (drink), go to bed, wake up for 11 am class. Can't say I like going to bed by the 3rd inning and waking up the next day to see a boxscore...
  17. zero. he's no arroyo at the plate. Arroyo wasn't anything special at the plate either in his first couple seasons in Pittsburgh. In 2001 he had 16 strikeouts in 21 AB's and for his career he is batting .102 with 34 strikeouts in 59 AB's. yea, it was a joke. Why in God's name is Bynum hitting 2nd? That's ridiculous. You gotta bring Murt and Young Ronny along and ease them in. Plus, Bynum is fast dude.
  18. So far, for my team, I have to go with Brad Hawpe and Bronson Arroyo. I got Hawpe in the 5th Rd, 80th pick and Arroyo in the 11th Rd, 176th pick. I picked Arroyo in the '05 draft in the 6th Rd so I was surprised that I was able to pick him up this year at that spot. I picked up Hawpe solely to platoon in my OF with Nixon when each player had a favorable week (i.e. Hawpe in Coors). '06 stats: Arroyo - 2 starts, 2-0, 1.98 ERA, 11 K, 0 BB Hawpe - 36 PA/.394/.429/1.368, 4 hr, 12 rbi, 8 EBH To my surprise, most of Hawpe's damage has been done away from Coors. How about other clubs ?
  19. I'd really have to go with Alfredo Griffin for his longevity of terrible batting. He played for 16 seasons and had 3 in which he hit over .250 with over a .300 OBP. My favorite was his 1984 season where he walked FOUR times in 443 PA. http://www.jockbio.com/Bios/Tejada/Tejada_Images/Tejada.Facts.02.gif
  20. He's really helping out the Buddiga bullpen. The Sox might be able to trade him for a real shortstop at some point...
  21. Can I petition to allow Arroyo's hitting stats to count ? Or, at least can he face Gopher Ball Rusch on a regular basis ?
  22. The big key for me with regards to Baker is not necessarily in-game strategy, but who he plays and how he plays them. In-game strategy should be a given for anyone who's been in the game of baseball for 30+ years. The real asset that a good manager brings is putting his players in situations that make the club successful. I do not have a problem with Perez getting a start or two per week between SS and 2nd base. He's the primary backup and it's important that he gets 4 or 5 AB's per week. I just want to see how Baker handles Cedeno when he goes through an 0-18 stretch. It's easy to play the rookies, or anyone, when they are hitting 10-18. Will he sit Ronny down to watch the experienced veteran, or will he let Ronny play through it ? Same goes for Murton. Dusty's talked the talk for so long about wanting a team of young players; lets see if he can do it for 26 weeks. The Cubs best chance for success is with Murton and Cedeno fitting in around the stars in this lineup. Perez and Mabry are solid additions coming off the bench and that is where they bring the most value to the team.
  23. The kick is up, and it is good!
  24. Eh. Foulke - staring into space while Papelbon mows down Rangers Gordon - Pujols'd Borowski - pitching in middle relief Typically my strength is a weakness so far. I should get Mercker! oml.
