  1. Interesting. I guess he's feeling pretty good after back-to-back 126 pitch outings. He's a horse, but the extra day at this point might not be the worst thing for him.
  2. The games kick off at 2 pm on Friday with #1 Clemson and Colvin against #8 GT. I think the winner of this game will win the entire tournament. Tech hit the ball very well against Clemson in every game this season. In the ACC Final, Tech ran out of pitching having to battle from the losers bracket. Rice escaped the SR and that might have been their wakeup call. Bracket Georgia and Georgia Tech on opposite sides of the bracket and would make for the tremendous final.
  3. Brad Mills, Bench Coach, Boston Red Sox
  4. the book is still not out on these guys. just wait, that's why Rusch is on the roster. the book.
  5. and mench didn't even play! but, here's what happens when raw talent teams up with a great hitting coach: Bufthews
  6. the yankees are just more clutch than the cubs...
  7. He's been out of sorts all season long. That's his 4th blown save and 3rd loss. He has already walked 23 batters in 22 innings and didn't walk as many in 75 innings in 2004. Such a significant lack of command with the breaking ball almost makes you think he's trying to pitch through something...
  8. You definitely want to load your lineup with LH speed bats at Minute Maid...
  9. Should be a great matchup. Hopefully Tech can get a couple of their wounded back by the weekend.
  10. Jacque is reminding me of Alou. He's hitting, but he has the fundamentals of a t-baller.
  11. He swings at everything --- kind of like Benito Santiago.
  12. Tech beat both Stetson and Vandy yesterday and will face the winner of this afternoon's Vandy/Michigan game for the Super Regional bid. Luke Murton added another HR last night against Vandy to lead GT: Big Red (6'5" 226)
  13. dude, that was so last year! it's womack's turn!
  14. it should be noted that Juan Pierre leads mlb in infield hits with 18. his closest competitor has 14. lets get astroturf!
  15. as a wise man once said, it doesn't matter how much grass is on the playing field --- just hit it...
  16. The game is on INHD-1 if you get HD cable --- or so the programming guide says. Could be a delay or two at some point unless Wrigley dodges the thundershowers: Stormy Weathers
  17. The NY media may have you prematurely excited. But, I think it will still happen. Hopefully not in time for the big Week 10 matchup...
  18. Tech makes it in with the all important 8th National Seed (home field advantage to the CWS). No 8th seed in NCAA Tournament history has missed the CWS. Unless Luke Murton continues his thrashing of the baseball, I'm afraid a Danny Hall team will again miss out on Omaha...
  19. Here is a breakdown of runs scored by the Cubs this season: Innings 1-6: 127 Innings 7-9: 63 The Cubs have scored about evenly in the last three innings of games this season compared with early in games. In fact, the Cubs have scored 7 runs this season in the third inning of games. When the Cubs were successful, they got 4 or 5 runs quickly and held the lead. This season, the offense doesn't seem to get going until the team is behind. The starting staff ERA has been a huge embarrassment, but the offense has basically never picked them up this season.
  20. the double-switching was classic. dusty's probably got more double-switches than the cubs have homers... !
  21. The Cubs will lose this one 9-8 as Francouer hits a ball into the ivy and runs forever when Juan Pierre forgets to throw his hands up. Pierre finds the ball but misses the cut-off man because the ball never makes it to Womack...
  22. i know. it must hurt. i think we all wanted to see Rusch give up 5 more homers tomorrow.
  23. In a just world Neifi would be DFA'd. That would leave us with a bench of Hairston, Mabry, Bynum, Blanco. A 4-man bench. Even Hendry isn't that stupid. Don't forget Womack!
  24. It's all about swinging those bats with Dusty. The Cubs gave away runs because they walked 9 batters and 3 of them scored. Meanwhile, the Cubs put on another singles exhibition. The Cubs drew a walk --- but it was intentional.
  25. I don't think Baker is capable of this. He lets the highs get too high and the lows too low. Flipping the "game ball" to Russ Ortiz in Game 7 of the World Series tipped me off to this.
