    I would certainly rather see them try to bring back Tucker over signing Bregman. Bregman does absolutely nothing for me. Of course, staying the course until the trade deadline won't be popular since it means they did little in the offseason and there will be no faith they actually do something at the deadline.

    Yeah, I think people are wrong about Thome. He's actually always been very adamant that he never juiced. Sure, so were the juicers, but there just isn't any smoke in regards to Thome's potential usage.

    I don't think this is the worst plan, provided they take that remaining money and maybe even blow through the LT at the trade deadline adding players of significance at positions of need. They will know more about playoffs on August 1st than they do before the season starts. If they beef up the rotation and wait out who is performing with the bats, I think they can make it work. I'm not saying it's the best plan, but I can understand that idea.

    I think this is what you will find on every message board. If you decide to stay, I'd recommend keeping on topic with the discussion and say way less about your personal life. Ignore people who challenge your AI-ness. We all say something embarrassing or dumb at some point. If you aren't willing to let playful banter at your expense bounce off of you, I'd suggest looking for a different hobby than posting on message boards. There are some amazingly smart people posting here. There are some amazingly not so smart people posting here. Everyone contributes. This isn't a clique. Some people are hated as equally as they are adored. Thick skin is necessary on sports team discussion boards. It's okay to just read posts and not interject opinions on every topic. Blend in. Don't dominate the discussion. More than 70 posts already is alarming during an offseason where nothing of significance is happening. Most of those posts are defending yourself or talking about things that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand. If you decide to stay, put the shiny new toy on the shelf for awhile and give equal time to your other toys. This isn't a race. You are never going to win the most posts race here. MOJO will never allow it.

    One of the most valuable players on the team last year. Can play 2b or SS as good as just about anyone else in the league. Doesn't hit for power, but certainly hits for average and has great speed on the bases. Smart player. One of my absolute favorites. So, why does he need to go, bro?

    I think the Brian part is photoshopped. I feel like the original only misspelled morons. I say this as a person who has his name misspelled about as often as it is spelled correctly, and I definitely notice. I've received credit cards spelled Brain. My name is misspelled so often that when I actually have to fill out a name tag, I usually just put Brain, and rarely does anyone ever even notice. And it's also typical that if I ever corrected someone on the spelling, they just start calling me Brain. I'm actually quite okay with that, since there are certainly worse things people can call me. And now you know what the last "B" stands for in my screen name. My screen name has been a nickname for much longer than my time here.

    Now matter how clear it seems, apparently there is an entire system of working around it. I'll probably never be smart enough to figure out how much a team has available to spend in an offseason. I will say that based on what I've seen on Spotrac, I feel like the Bears will need to rework contracts in order to make any significant additions and/or keep some of their expiring contracts. But, maybe I'm wrong about that.

    There are 8 teams with either 2 or 3 losses on the season. How bad does Cleveland even want to win this game after losing to the worst team in the league? Of the 3 win teams, Cleveland has the top pick and would draft 4th if the season ended today. A win potentially knocks them to 8th if the Giants beat Washington. Losing out could move them into the top 3. They play playoff hopefuls the next 3 weeks (Chi, Buf, Pit) and finish with Cincy. Of significance is that the Browns have Sanders, Gabriel and Watson in their QB room for next year, so they are in a position to potentially grab the best non QB in the draft if they lose out. The Bears losing this game would not be good. The Browns winning would be exactly what their fanbase probably doesn't want at this point.

    I believe I read that Pollard was a "sit 'em" on Sunday and gashed the Cleveland defense for 25/161/2, so maybe the Bears line can create some ground attack after all. Early weather report is frigid once again on Sunday. I think you have to take every team seriously, but Cleveland had to play catchup against the worst team in the league on Sunday.

    While missing swinging bats with high velocity is a hot commodity, what about guys who do a great job of painting corners? Does the auto strike zone change the values of the available pitchers out there at all?

    Haven't seen a weather report other than we know it will be cold. If it's not too windy, I predict some Ben Johnson creativity today. Everyone is expecting run, run, run. Packers lost their top run stopper, which means that the Bears should find success with the running game. But, I also expect the Packers to be planning on the run being the main focus. I'm not so sure Ben is going to play entirely into that narrative. And I'm predicting a Bears win once again today. Ben probably wants this game more than anyone in the building, knowing that people still question the validity of his team. Easily the most important divisional matchup of their season today. Strike quick and often! Get some pressure on Love and make him throw some wounded ducks, and force turnovers. Also, next week the Bears are going against the best run stopping team in the league, and now is the time to get Caleb dialed in on passing game. You don't abandon the run against GB, but there should be a lot of 2nd and 3rd and shorts that could turn into big plays with YAC. Sure glad Nick Bosa won't be playing in the San Fran game, because that stretch of dominant DE's would have been insane for Caleb to deal with.

    Skip Bayless video popped up in my feed. I'll spare you all the pain of watching a 16 minute video of him crying about the Cowboys losing, but it's kinda funny seeing such despair documented for all to see.

    For the price I'm paying for CHSN, I should get all of the games. Guess I'll go ahead and kick the Bulls streams to the curb since they suck again. That'll make my CHSN app $10 less a month. ETA: My plan renews tomorrow. Impossible to figure out how to change the subscription so I had to contact customer support. Arghh.

    Devonte Wyatt got injured in the Lions game and is out for the season. That's a big blow to their defensive line, which should be good for the run game. I'm going into this game with the same confidence I feel like the players are going to have. Ben will get them pumped and then they just need a good sustained drive early to dominate the Packers on their own turf. Hope they get some LB's back for Sunday.

    Dreadful contract. 1 sack and one other tackle on the season coupled with 2 QB hits for 8m this year, and 20m each of the next two years. Jarrett and Jaylon are each getting 12m raises for next year, also. That's 36m in increased payroll for 3 guys. You got another 6m going to the two QB's in raises. DJ is getting a 3.5m raise. Jonah is getting a 3.5m raise. Thuney is getting a 13m raise. and Kyler is getting about 8.5m in raises. Then lots of 1m raises for your youngsters and roster fodder. Bates, Braxton, Swift, Byard, Billings are places you can cut some salary, but Edmonds is the only one with any significance. Poles is going to need to do some serious contract restructuring. Or let's hope the NFL increases the cap by 50m. LOL People are always saying there are ways to work around the cap. Well, Poles is going to have to do exactly that this coming year.

    Are you saying bring Edmunds back? With the increase in salaries to so many players, I see Edmunds as the most likely casualty. I'm all for bringing back as many guys as possible, but a lot of contracts need to be reworked to make everyone fit for next year. Edmunds frees up close to 15m. Edwards, Sewell with Hippolyte and D'Marco Jackson or Ogbongbemiga might be all you need at LB if you spruce up the DL. Jaylon Jones and Terrel Smith potentially back next year saves some dollars. Billings probably won't be back. Brisker should get extended.

    No doubt. That's why I mentioned a few pages back that some of Poles disasters were so disastrous that they ended up becoming great. Don't know if Poles hired Eberflus, but he does take credit for it, and if it's Dan Quinn, maybe Quinn doesn't hose the 2024 season as badly as Eberflus did. End result is Ben Johnson.

    I nearly posted the same thing yesterday. Winning gets people's attention. Players want to play on teams that have a bright future with great coaching. Seeing all the videos out there of Ben's after game pep talks have to be enticing to a guy looking for a team. My concern is how they figure out a way to add talent this offseason. It's way too early to talk next year, but the raises to Jonah Jackson, Dayo Odeyingbo, Grady Jarrett and Jaylon Johnson in 2026 is beyond significant. While I feel like Swift may have earned his final year of his contract, I don't see how that's even remotely possible with the cap crunch this team will be up against next year. Same with maybe bringing Byard back on another one year deal. Sure hope some of these guys are willing to rework their contracts. There aren't many cuts after Edmunds and Swift that give them significant cap space.

    I don't find that to be true. To me, they are already playing with house money. Most didn't even predict 9 wins, let alone anything they get beyond that. I was on the edge of my seat for the Eagles game, but I have also tempered my emotions on 3 and outs, points given up, etc.... It's different than expecting wins. The wins are just a wonderful surprise in this process of watching Ben move this franchise in the right direction.
