  1. That will get fixed next week. He'll look like 2024 Saquon on Sunday.
  2. I certainly feel better. But, I'm also tempering expectations. Caleb will have to throw the ball a lot all season long, because this defense looks really bad.
  3. This. And you really need two guys that rotate and complement each other. The Bears currently have neither. Swift is a good 3rd down back. Monty wanted out and you can't blame him, but I also didn't want them breaking the bank to keep him. He wasn't good enough for a big contract. There have been plenty of options to improve the RB room and it's been ignored or poor choices made.
  4. Trevon Diggs has been added to the to the injury report as questionable, which is typically a bad sign for playing. Cowboys are already down a man in their defensive backfield with Bland being out for Sunday.
  5. Caleb has to start being unafraid to hit those receivers breaking out of tight coverage rather than waiting until they have a 10 yard cushion on the nearest defender. Waiting for those extremely open guys is why he's guilty of holding the ball too long on most plays. That's when he will turn the corner in this league. He has the guys who can get open in a hurry and those same guys can do a lot after the catch. Hell, Caleb is practicing against this same defense that looks so bad on game day. That should be a confidence builder in and of itself.
  6. They are already missing multiple defenders. Stevenson has been the worst CB in the NFL so far this year, allowing a perfect 158.3 QB rating. Who is protecting against Lamb and Perkins? Did Not Practice Thursday: TJ Edwards Jaylon Johnson Kyler Gordon Jaylon Jones Kiran Amegadjie D'Marco Jackson Limited Practice Grady Jarrett
  7. Need to add Monangai to that list. While I have no doubt Lamb/Perkins/Fergusen will destroy our secondary, the Bears know Eberflus' defense and they should be able to score on his defense as well. I'm probably not going to be able to watch this one til much later, Can't believe someone schedules a Celebration of Life on a Sunday during football season. I've already given the POA a piece of my mind for scheduling the annual meeting on a Sunday, but they did say I was welcome to bring a tv to the festivities. I was going to, but after last week's thrashing, I feel like I'll look like a complete idiot bringing a tv to an outdoor party on the lake for such a pathetic team. I'll just peak in on my phone and actually watch later. It's already a juggling act trying to smoke a pork butt for the annual meeting while leaving for a few hours for the Celebration of Life.
  8. His line gave him no time to throw. Collins seems to only run towards the end zone, so plays to him take way too long to develop. Running game was non existent.
  9. I've yet to comment on this game. To say I was disappointed is putting it mildly. A friend from Michigan came down to watch the games with me this weekend, and while I normally feel for Lions' fans as being more miserable than Bears' fans, his joy and emotion in watching his team destroy the Bears just made me want to show him the door. But, it was a 7 hour drive and it was only 3 hours in what was a pretty good visit otherwise. I generally prefer a little hope mixed in with my misery early in a football season. Don't give me the bad news until the season is half over, so to speak. My homerism kinda needs a little support when most of everything I read is negative towards every aspect of the organization. NFL is my game. It's the sport I love more than any other, even if this is a Cubs baseball site. I want my team to do good. I don't switch teams. I've been a Bears fan since the earliest of '70's. Yesterday told me this season is already over for the Bears. They might win some games, but this team is not going to have a winning record or go to the playoffs, and I guess I might as well let that sink in now and not drag out the pain. Too many negatives to list to dwell any further. Beat the Cowboys you ass clowns.
  10. It's stuff they needed to know before that situation. But, the Manning's were talking about scenario's while the Bears were making their last TD drive. I know most coaches cover their mouths to avoid opponents grabbing something of value in real time. Is there really no one that could have put a bug in one of the coaches ears way earlier about the best scenarios to prolong the game? Losing that 2 minute warning clock stoppage was not a good situation. Teams can easily get in field goal range in 55 seconds with no timeouts. Look what Minnesota did in one play before the half. How much time did they have?
  11. Maybe the 4th round punter has a big enough leg to kick it out of bounds? The Manning boys said to kick it out of bounds. It's a 5 yard difference than kicking it out of the end zone. Regardless, kicking an earlier field goal instead of trying to get into the end zone would have given them a lot more time than whatever decision on the final kick off would have. Ben will need to be better with his clock management going forward.
  12. Was he lined up on Hargrave? That's a tough assignment in week 1. But that's probably not far off from being the league low, not just team low.
  13. That's exactly it. They spent most of their free agent money protecting him. Got the best minds to coach him and gave him receivers that Mahomes would drool over. You can't go out there looking like a deer in the headlights. You have to take control of the team and make plays happen. You will lose your teammates very soon if you continue to air mail wide open receivers. Ben doesn't seem like a guy who will tolerate less than NFL caliber talent. I want Caleb to be that guy more than anyone, but last night was so frustrating minus the first drive.
  14. I'd be shocked if Ben waited that long to pull the trigger. You can't not see wide open receivers and/or overthrow them consistently and keep your job, I don't care where you were drafted.
  15. I felt like Minnesota was sending extra rushers the entire second half because Caleb had no answers for that, and that should mean open receivers all over the field, but Caleb was firing the ball in the exact spot all the extra defenders were hanging out. Right on the line of scrimmage. Horrible place to look for an open guy.
  16. Yeah, but it wasn't out of bounds. It was out of state or Lake Michigan.
  17. While that one was terrible, I thought the deep route to DJ was even worse. I watched each replay completely mind boggled how you can miss DJ by that much. You couldn't even see the ball in the window of where DJ was and he was WIDE OPEN.
  18. Gotta love the smack talk. Sure would be nice to be so rich you can afford 200K bets, but even then I probably wouldn't. Hell, so far I'm 4-11 on my picks this week. Shouldn't I be closer to 50% since each pick is a toss up with the spread? It's a conspiracy against me, I'm sure of it.
  19. Try to find a way to watch the 4th quarter. It was a crazy finish and well worth the watch even if you already know the outcome.
  20. That Bills/Ravens game was the best thing on tv in quite some time. Cam Ward is not garbage, even if the post was meant in jest. So many dropped balls. They should have won that game, IMO, and I picked Denver in my suicide pool this week. I hope Detroit falling on their faces without help was more about Ben Johnson's greatness than we realize. Fields looked really good. Glad to see it even though it's always fun watching the Jets flounder year after year. How does the Jets vaunted defense let an old cripple tear up their side of the field for an entire game? So glad football is back.
  21. Bottom line, the truth will be in the results. The OLine is about as good as you can get it. 2 TE sets should create extra blocking while also creating dump pass options. I already noticed more plays designed to get the ball out of Caleb's hands quicker. There are better skill player options with the additions of Burden III, Loveland and Zaccheus to add to what they already had. And now a coach who clearly turned Goff into a good QB while also creating a top offense in the league. And this coach doesn't appear to be okay with nonsense. And he seemed to have enough info to want the job knowing Caleb would be his QB. I don't expect the offense to be 100% ready to go on day 1. They need reps together in a new system. Doesn't mean they can't persevere. Just don't get yourself embarrassed or play like idiots, because that's what Eberflus seemed to be okay with. If I had to guess, it's probably a bit of both. There's probably some truths in there, and it's probably also a hit piece. We are talking about a young kid getting a taste of entering the grownup stages of life where you may not be quite ready to do that yet, especially with million dollar checks pouring in. These guys have to mature in ways I certainly can't imagine. Same can be said about our military. Grow up now, kid! Peyton Manning sucked in his first season in the NFL. It's not the measuring stick, but it gives hope that once a QB is done with their growing pains, they will have the chance to become HOF level QB's. I don't even need HOF level. I just want a QB that maybe plays for the Bears for 10-12 happy years or so and takes us to the playoffs most of those years. What would Caleb like his legacy to be?
  22. Are any of you reading beyond the paywall?
  23. Somehow I always miss out on seeing these posts in time. PM me next year if you are in need of a manager. I generally suck at fantasy, so I'm an easy target. But I do enjoy playing. Part of the reason I have a wall of tv's in my basement. I'm in a couple of very competitive leagues with friends from around the country.
  24. Not sure how Eberflus even got a job after last year's horsefeathers show. But, Mel Tucker got a job right away again back in the day, too. It's the good ole boy network. To be fair, Dallas got pressure, but Hurts danced his way around all of them. Probably wouldn't have gotten away with that much if they still had Parsons. Goedert isn't going to survive the season taking the hits he took last night after every catch. Curious to see how long Carter gets suspended for. Thought for sure the Eagles would end up losing after losing two players on the first play of the game.
