  1. No love for Frank Castillo. Thought he was going to be a world beater. Loved when Harry would try to pronounce Grudzielanek. Sounded like he had a mouth full of marbles.
  2. I've grown tired of watching bats miss balls game after game after game. Doesn't matter who is throwing, they just can't make good contact. I watched until Kim hit the homer last night and knew that game was over at that point. I'll hope for playoff magic, but I'm not counting on them learning to make contact with the ball by then.
  3. Are we going to be seeing a DE addition this week? The Bears just reworked Jaylon Johnson's contract to open up 8m in cap space for this year.
  4. You are tougher than me. I turned it off after the first inning. Bases loaded with 1 out and no runs scored followed by a Devers HR is all it took for me to know what was going to happen in this game. There are plenty of reasons to hate Carson Kelly batting directly behind some of the better hitters in the line up. My biggest pet peeve about that is his ability to make two outs at a time so well. I'd rather he bat first than be in the position of doubling up one of Tucker or Seiya time and again. He's just not going to beat out a double play grounder. It's setting the lineup up for failure.
  5. Need pressure on that rookie QB to force TO's.
  6. DE/EDGE was one of the main missing pieces going into the offseason and they didn't draft one or trade for one, and the guys they did sign via FA weren't world beaters, that's for sure. Not sure if they like what they got or they find someone on the waiver wire. Very weird how it never seemed like a focus by management.
  7. With Dennis Allen’s defensive scheme, pressure on the QB should take some pressure off the DBs. More INTs hopefully.
  8. Only surprise I'm hoping for the roster cuts is for Jahdae Walker to make the team. If only because of the most awesome td celebration I've seen in a long time. This is assuming they go with 6 WR's and a battle between Scott, Alexander and Walker for that spot. Also, I could see all 8 rookie draft picks making the team, even if one will be on NFI list for the first 4 weeks, so that's fun. Not sure if it's a good thing if every draft pick makes the roster, but hey, nice draft.
  9. This would only be the case if you didn't already have several streaming apps. It also doesn't take into account discount pricing for new/first time members. I got Sunday Ticket for free the first year it was on You Tube TV just for signing up for You Tube TV, which I was planning to do after I got my Starlink set up anyway. I also get a $100 discount on Sunday Ticket for renewing early, which is just automatic.
  10. Blown away that this is the lineup they came up with for getaway day and a chance to take 4 out of 5 from the team they are looking up at. Where is the reward for a job well done where you maybe even consider moving a guy up in the lineup (batting McGuire 9th doesn't qualify) for performing so well? But hell nah, sit the bench kid, we got veterans that need to make some big outs.
  11. And now I'm slowly starting to understand why they don't just use duct tape on a pitching shoulder/elbow.
  12. Shaw and Busch don't even know who that guy is. Book it.
  13. You can now add Caissie to that list. He hustled his ass off to score from 1st. Oh, and to the poster that said they thought Shaw was out at home, HELL NAH! I'm not even sure the catcher even applied a tag. Shaw came in wide and I think he crossed the plate before the catcher was even half way turned around to apply the tag. I've stayed out of the Tucker walking to first base/booing narrative, but I was mad as hell that he's clearly been pouting about his slump. He probably still would have been out on that grounder that got bobbled by the 1b the other day, but he was already headed towards the dugout on that play, so yeah, he deserves some pine time to get his head right. I'd use him as a pinch hitter in either of these next two games if there is some runners in scoring position, but that's about it.
  14. Yeah, preseason. But, it's nice to see plays work the way they are supposed to. It's exciting to think that the OLine reinforcements could protect Williams enough to connect with DJ, Odunze, Burden III, Zaccheus, Kmet, Loveland and Swift. It will be interesting to see how the RB room shakes out.
  15. Colorado's roads might be the worst roads in the country. They certainly aren't spending the weed tax on infrastructure that is noticeable. At least Illinois has the state flower "road construction cone/barrel" set up on nearly every road.
  16. I know I'm not going to be able to avoid purchasing the CHSN streaming app for the Blackhawks, so I'll probably tune into quite a few Bulls games, but it won't be fun.
  17. I just got back from a two week trip where I was off the grid, but if I got some cell service I'd at least check in on what's going on. I'm glad I was gone, because I'd probably be losing my mind right now, too. Yesterday's game alone made me want to quit watching baseball for awhile. Nice to see the Brewers haven't lost since they last played the Cubs. Minus 2016, we can never have nice things. Feels like the whole team died the day Ryno passed.
  18. It’s the little things that help a franchise turn a corner.
  19. I don’t think it’s a good idea to over extend his innings this year. Playoff starts can include short rest. I felt one starter was the #1 priority. Alcantara, Kelly, Cease, Cabrera seemed like guys who may not have cost the farm. Gotta hope Taillon is ready for a strong return.
  20. Driving across the country, I open this thread an hour before the trade deadline after hearing the Cubs traded for Castro. As I’m trying to catch up, new pages keep adding to this thread, so I’m thinking they traded for a big starter. Boy was I disappointed. Boyd Shota Taillon as your top 3 playoff arms seems weak to me. Assuming Horton will need to stop piling up innings. So Soroka, Rea and Assad round out the last two spots/long relief. I’m quite sad they couldn’t get one more solid arm.
  21. We lived in a rural area, so we didn't have cable. I only saw game of the week or maybe we would be at someone else's house that did have WGN. I distinctly remember when the Cubs traded for Ryno. It was Ryno and Larry Bowa for Ivan DeJesus. I wasn't really a fan of DeJesus, but I was very blah about Larry Bowa and I knew nothing about Ryno. Anyway, I see Ryno playing 3b for the Cubs in 1982 on a friends tv in town, and he's in game 7 of the season and he is 0 for his first 22 at bats. I then saw him get his first hit. Didn't see much without cable back then, but I did see that. Same friend that had that tv for the first Ryno hit got us tickets for a whole Cardinals/Cubs series in St. Louis in late September in '84. Rained all day Saturday, so we had a double header on Sunday. Have to look up that series box scores, because that was fun. To really age myself, I also remember seeing the Cubs on a black and white tv at my grandmother's house in Chicago when Ernie Banks was still on the team. I remember watching Milt Pappas throw a no hitter on our tv for the game of the week. RIP Ryno. I eventually got cable and watched every game I could.
