  1. Ironically, this is just you speculating. You're speculating that I'm speculating. Just as you're speculating that I'm speculating about your speculation in regards to Peter's speculating.

  3. Well, yeah. The Yankee market is immensely larger than that of those two. And we're talking about being influential.
  4. still too early to compare a player's pace with the record book, IMO Lee's no Chris Shelton, though, he's a doubles machine, so who knows :)
  5. Premium's looking pretty good right now.
  6. I am. But I'm not getting the on-screen graphics. I've seen that a time or two before - what's the reason behind that? update: now I've got it :)

  8. pretty much the entire all-star thing is a sham.
  9. He pitched 2 innings yesterday. He wouldn't have been available today anyway. stop throwing facts at the hyperbole brigade! Are you the elitism brigade? pssh . . . "elitist brigade." Someone just came down from the ivory tower. ;) edit: added winking smilie
  10. Len uncharacteristically got excited early
  11. Is that you, Chip Caray? ouch no hard feelings :D
  12. Who would you pinch-hit with since Murton was already used? Cedeno? He's got a better chance than Jones. Did you see Jones in that at-bat? I could go up there and put up a better fight. lay of Jones, he almost got hit by a pitch. Er, wait . . . no he didn't :)
  13. to play devil's advocate, why should someone even cheer for a team/player as opposed to boo? Players/teams do both good and bad things on the field. Both responses are reactions to these performances. PLayers/teams realize that, in either case, the cheering or booing is not a lifetime gift/sentence. If they perform in the opposite fashion, they receive the opposite response. Players/teams are highly paid professionals who are highly-paid because people are passionate about sports ($40-80 tickets = passion). Passion is obviously present in just about every seat in the house. Emotional responses are to be expected. Why should one type of response (over the other) be demonized, belittled, even desired to be outlawed? Maybe I'm wrong, I'm quite open to it, but I'd love to see a serious argument against this (because I do believe one exists :))
  14. the ump tried his hardest to keep it going ;)
  15. Agreed. That, and at least their idea of "ready" is somewhat quantifiable.
  16. Thanks for the "inside info," Bruce. That's an interesting response that I completely agree with. :D
  17. if you're not early, you're late
  18. I take it that this means I can expect it to work better today/later? I was definitely disappointed by last night's quality.
  19. :? I definitely thought it was Peralta as well. edit: FWIW, his wiki page has it as Peralta.
  20. Might as well ask it here, why do players so often not want to negotiate in the season. It wouldn't be much of a distractions; it's really just the agent doing the meetings. Is it as simple as wanting to have the leverage of a deadline?
  21. I, for one, boo and yell and call the players names while I watch the game. From my couch at the TV. It's entertainment in that sense. I f I were in the second row overlooking RF, I wouldn't -- no matter what the situation -- yell anything, or in any way taunt Jacque Jones. At home, it's different.
