  1. Cool, I've been to chicago just 3 times, and I've actually been to Gino's!!
  2. Haha. I love the guy, but that's pretty funny.
  3. So were the Colts. Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods have been on it more than a few times, too. Odd that you bring up Tiger. Sports Illustrated in 2002 did a cover story on its own curse and here is what they found: So while there is rock-solid proof that the cover curse exists, the fact that it's happened 37.2 percent of the time is something of an oddity. No that is not "rock solid" proof of anything. The rate is less than chance levels. I'm pretty sure that's what he meant, just a typo. Anyways, what would be the chance rating for this case?
  4. On now. Some highlights: * Cubs had a lot of things go wrong with them (injuries), and only 16 games behind last year. * Had conversation with Wood - medical people feel he's more suited for the 'pen. Bullpen is right decision, Wood agreed. * Won't "count on" Prior, though he's very talented. If he works out, it's like "signing a #1 FA" * Soriano is offensive force. Now more patient/selective. "Can steal 2nd and 3rd on two pitches." * Winning with the Cubs would be "great way to end my career." Wrigley field is fun place. He "got some beers and ate some hotdogs" his last time there. Not alot of interesting things there, but there it it. BTW, it was their Sunday conversation, so most probably already saw it I guess.
  5. watching right now (12:30 Central), they said they have an interview coming up with Piniella (and maybe Ozzie Guillen too). I'm pretty sure this Sportscenter right now is a repeat, but in case anyone missed it, it's coming up again. SOrry, if this was already posted, didn't see it.
  6. I think you can. I just signed into it on two different browsers. It's allowing me to watch two different games at the same time. However, I don't know how it will respond with 2 different IP addresses trying to use the product at one time. You and your brother might want to give it a try by signing up for a month. There is no contract so if it doesn't work you can always cancel without a penalty. that's a good idea, thanks.
  7. Anybody know if I can share an account with my brother (i.e. split the cost, paying for one subscription), and have both of us able to log on and watch at the same time?
  8. man! Lou looks like he's having a great time already. this is getting exciting.
  9. so why are soriano's bats all taped up??? ;)
  10. by "his" do you mean Steve Stone? If I'm reading you right, it sounds like you're suggesting Stone may eventually join Kasper in the booth? I like BB, but that would be interesting, though many on here would be disappointed.
  11. good question - I sure hope someone is. There is much to complain about in the ESPN does baseball, but as a general rule, the more games on TV, the better. That's the first I heard they were cutting back; sad . . .
  12. I know what you mean, but I disagree. When I think of motion controlled batting and pitching, I don't think of the most realistic representation of baseball at all, really. I think gimmicky (which I mean in the nicest way - it sounds fun). I've not played the wii, but I imagine it would use it's unique technology in a "fun" way, with "fun" being very subjective between me (a hardcore baseball simmer) and Nintendo (devloper of a console for kids, compared to the other companies). Nintendo is going to lose it's "kiddie" label very soon-there are some very mature games coming to the Wii. The Wii is really going to be a mix from games for everybody to the youngest to the most mature of games out there (even some criticized on other systems for being too mature)-they are really trying to give something for everybody. I think if somebody took the time to do the controls nicely for a baseball game on the Wii, it would be spectacular. There's so much you can do for the controller-it's just a matter of developing the code. I'll cross my fingers - that would truly be awesome.

  14. doubled in size and weight . . . ;)
  15. Will this announcement: Tarnesh Wrigley reputation?: probably, but not qualitatively Make watching a game less enjoyable?: hard to say; it is still baseball, right? Cause petty, personal attacks on NSBB, the only decent place for Cub fans?: apparently so :( I can already say that this move has been bad . . .
  16. I'd rather they built a new ballpark than screw with the tradition of the old one. Granted, I'm not a Chicago-born or Chicago-living fan -- I've only been to Wrigley twice, including one pregame rainout -- so my perspective is a bit different.
  17. Ironically, I think this story is the closest thing to confirmation of a trade request we've seen. It's Piniella's quote that announce that the request is withdrawn, thus at one point it was requested.
  18. Is that pretty much what we've been expecting, or not?
  19. http://www.firesoul.com Is it weird that I totally got the irony of the joke, yet still clicked the link . . . just in case? ;) The site is down because I was already fired. That's why I'm here :P You should have seen the day after I was hired. Wow, those were the days. lol, i bet you never got as much traffic as Ron Zook did.

  21. First of all, IMO you should get the "Marquis is a cardinal" talk out of your system before spring training starts, because Jason Marquis - for better or worse - is now a Chicago Cub. The way I see it, as others have said, Jason was given a list to choose from. He chose the one he wanted. That seems like enough.
  22. that about sums it up.
